  1. I've read the whole thread because I thought for sure someone would have mentioned The West Wing. This show does not hold up for me at all. Strange because it is not that old of a show. I sometimes catch an early episode - which at one point I'd thought was very well done - and I feel embarrassed for the people in it. It seems so contrived and silly. Maybe because 9/11 changed things drastically for American politics? Maybe TV is much more dramatic now? I can't imagine The West Wing airing at the same time as Breaking Bad or House of Cards.
  2. My Fair Lady seems like a great idea, whoever mentioned it up thread. I really hope A Few Good Men works out. I vote for Alec Baldwin as Colonel Jessup. He seems game for interesting projects and has the strong NBC connection.
  3. What were the ratings overall? And are there any ratings data for the first hour compared to the rest of the show? I posted before my reservations about doing Peter Pan. I imagine a lot of people were like me and got excited and tuned in and then tuned out when we realized none of the songs were very good. I have seen Peter Pan before but it's just so forgettable. I think a musical can't be great without excellent, memorable songs. How many people on the street could probably name three songs from TSOM before last year's live performance? Probably a lot. The only Pan song I could think of was Never smile at a crocodile... Was that a Disney song?
  4. I'm concerned that no one really remembers anything about Peter Pan. Maybe it's just my own lapse of memory. I can't recall any of the songs and I don't really remember much of the story except a hazy outline. Certainly not like The Sound of Music, which had so many memorable songs. I'm worried that the songs aren't very good. Who else was considered besides Kristen Bell?
  5. Did it look like Julia was barefoot behind the podium? Glad Ben won. Would've been happier with my girl Julia winning but this is good too. I wish Arthur would quit talking about people on the internet and supposed controversy. A ton of viewers have no idea what he's talking about and it makes him look ... I don't know the word. Not classy. It reminds me of one of those Hills girls who was on Dancing with the Stars. In her first introduction package, she tells the interviewer her name and says "and I am not a bitch!" Most people I bet don't know what she was talking about and she looked self absorbed. Maybe that is the phrase I meant for Arthur.
  6. That's pretty far fetched. I can't imagine a contestant faking being sick. This isn't Big Brother. Julia is a huge champ. She took her loss in good spirits. I think you see a conspiracy where there is none.
  7. I loved the burst of excitement from the audience when Julia won. She has such a sunny disposition that I love watching her. Even if no one knew that a life preserver is called a Mae West! I was born in the 80s and even knew that. But there was plenty I didn't get so I can't get too upset. The TS lately have been surprising.
  8. Is "Wilco" another name for her molester boyfriend? Because I'm sure he does love kids. A little too much.
  9. How often are tournaments of champions held? Will they bring back Julia for a future tournament?
  10. Noooooooo. Did anyone see a commercial in which it looked like Julia was buzzing next to Arthur? I figured it was a spoiler but now I guess it was just a promo.
  11. That was epic. I loved the horrified collective gasp from the audience.
  12. Her name is Casey LePlant. Anyone think of Mary Louise Parker on Weeds? Her pseudonym was Lacey LePlant, wasn't it? What a crappy game that was.
  13. I also thought she was in her 40s. Wow. If she's still in college why not go for the college tournament? Wouldn't that have more potential for big money?
  14. Not sad to see Jenica go. She seemed immature. I wouldn't admit to picking a major based on a TV show, especially one that's not realistic. And her voice really annoyed me. Sad to see the co-champ go, though.
