I think these stand alone episodes take place in a different timeline than the conspiracy arc stories. There have been a conspiracy story the first and last of each season, and monster-of-the-week type in between. Most viewers like these type of MOTW as they remind us of the original series long ago.

Seems like Cain is the Sinnerman himself. He said that "Sinnerman killed his brother." And Cain murdered Abel in the Bible so Cain/Welling can be the Sinnerman.

A Doctor joining the Army will almost always be at rank Captain minimum. But if he has an established career / practice as a Doctor it could be rank Major. It seemed like Frank discussed having a practice at home so he could have started as Major, and Charles apparently had a distinguished career before he was drafted as Major.

I finally got to watch all the new ones on demand. That was very enjoyable closure to the series. I never did understand where all the weird races / alien-looking / created lifeforms came from in the future. Were they all aliens like the prison ship, that Aku transported to Earth? Or just from Aku's evil influence distorting the entire planet biology? So I guess none of them will happen in the new Aku-free future.

Mr. Freeze tries to team up with Killer Frost against Firestorm. And she has some gratuitous ass shots. And I'm...ok with that.
