  1. It was very difficult to find a sitter who was up to the task of giving Sasha multiple pills twice a day while I went away last year. I finally got one who was happy to learn how to use the pill popper. I used Meowtel if anyone is looking for a sitter.

  2. I'd only been to Protestant weddings and they were essentially "Do you?" "Do you?" "Congrats, now where's the bar?" So the first Catholic wedding I attended was a horrible surprise. The wedding bit is over, let's hit the reception...nooo, you have to sit through an entire mass. Agony.

  3. My rain barrel is almost empty. We've had a rainy spring and summer overall and I've collected the water in 4 buckets in addition to the barrel, and I haven't had to use the hose to water the garden at all. But today I had to tip the barrel to get water out and there's no chance of rain until the weekend, and then it's only 50/50. It's not that I want a hurricane or anything, but a nice little nor'easter would be great.

ETA: OH MY GOD! I just realized that, being a childless person who loves having pets, I should probably not get anymore after I reach a certain age, just so I don't leave them all alone if I die.

That's where I'm at. There's only one person I could trust a pet to after I die and they're in another state and have multiple pets of their own. But I really miss having a furry friend to greet me when I come home and sit with me in the evenings.

  5. I bright Sasha home for the last time this morning. The ashes are in a small box with a tree of life on it, and there's a certificate. I was holding it together until I saw a card with a paw print and realized that it's her paw print and then I fell apart.

  6. We're required to get a note from a doctor if we're out sick 5 days in a row. We get 15 days sick time at the start of the year, it accumulates and is paid out when we leave service. Vacation days accumulate on a monthly basis and are also paid out when we leave. Personal leave is a measly 3 days a year and doesn't accumulate. We also have 12 holidays a year. Unfortunately, none of them are in August or October.
