  1. There was a Colin Firth category? Of all the nights to go out to dinner and forget to set the DVR! Did he read any of the answers?
  2. They're taking suggestions for favorite clips and also questions. Should we put something together as a group of TWoPpers/PTVers who have been discussing TDS together for years and will be cast adrift in August?
  3. Gordon on Halt and Catch Fire. Whoever called Diane on Mad Men the Human Eeyore--this is the male version.
  4. I thought it was obvious the kids were being chosen based on their parents' work.
  5. Yeah, I was confused by the autism reversal. And I do not care for Jacob and his loud, chirpy voice.
  6. I'm glad the focus has shifted to Donna and Cameron but I'm sad Gordon is still around. Just seeing his whiny face makes me want to punch it. Not in a fun, love to hate it kind of way.
  7. Little kids are inherently creepy, especially little blond girls, so cheers to the show for exploiting that natural resource. I'm a bit disappointed that there isn't much mystery about what the whispering thing is.
  8. Did you then buy a case of it, only to have your cats decide they wouldn't eat it anymore? Not that such a thing has ever happened to me.
  9. One of my several objections to showrunners et al explaining afterwards is that I feel like they're trying to control interpretation and I resent it, because it closes off all sorts of fun discussions and ideas. Once the authority says X is X, even though X is clearly M to a good many viewers and B to some others, it shuts down everyone who doesn't see X as X. Don't tell me what to think about what I just saw and that I'm wrong because it isn't what you think I should think. And, also, showrunner, you don't control everything that comes across on screen. That's what subtext is about.
  10. Reggie at least has been on before. I figured the blue eye shadow on all 3 panelists was to pick up the blue of the @ on the T shirts.
  11. Are all panelists going to wear @midnight T shirts from now on? I can't wait to see what Paul F. Tompkins does with it.
  12. I'll probably give Trevor a try, as I did Larry, and then in a week or so reset my DVR to just record @midnight. And Colbert, of course.
  13. I'll be watching it week by week because it isn't on Directv's on demand menu and I don't want to watch it on my pc. If it was available, I'd probably watch a couple of episodes at a time but more than that would be too much to take at once.
  14. Never looking at oatmeal the same way again...
  15. The selfie bit seemed like something Colbert would've done. I miss him so much.
  16. FIFA's president or whatever is named Sepp Blatter. I laugh every time because it sounds so made up, like a character in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
  17. Those with Roku: Have you noticed any problems with Roku 3 v. Roku 2?
  18. I used to have buffering issues with Netflix, which I access through a blu-ray player, but it was because my wireless router was an antique. Since I got a new one, everything is fine. Ooh. Except if I'm in my bedroom watching on the Kindle, it has gone to buffering once or twice. It's the room farthest away from the router. I've considered a Roku but both HDMI slots on the TV are already occupied.
  19. Simone didn't bother me at all. I hoped she'd go to the finals and it would be her v. Dwayne. The one who did make my ears bleed and whose elimination I cheered was Juliana. The screeching, the girrrrling, the endless references to her children--did you know she has 4 daughters? Jesus. I wish she'd gone first.
  20. Does X Files pre- or post-date the David E. Kelly shows because Chris Carter is the first showrunner I think I was really aware of.
  21. I can't count the number of times I've wanted to drop a cone of silence on students who can't shut up in the library.
