Here in Virginia, it is state law that veterinary clinics must provide a disclosure form stating any hours that continuous care is not available. Clients must sign. Peanut Law

This was a very meh episode, aside from Amgela Bassett getting another outlet to vent about not winning Best Supporting Actress.

So how many here are still watching it because they want to and how many hate watch it or your brain shuts off just to not remember the bad writing?
I'm questioning why I'm still watching. The series finale of Roseanne was really memorable and I dislike this trend of retconning series so that the original actors have steady work again. During this episode in particular, I found myself thinking that the Conners are pretty horrible people. I can't believe they thought it was OK to charge all that stuff to Bev's credit card. It just isn't funny.

I, too, am wondering about the decision to air episodes out of order. I'm guessing that episodes 2 and 3 did more to set up the characters and back story. Strange.
ETA: also, not enough dogs in this episode.

Next week there will be two episodes back to back according to my cable guide.
There were two last night. Didn't y'all see the wrapping paper cakes?
Justine saying "tahts" and "bahs" is like nails on a chalkboard. I like her, though.

Just saw that Gerry is going to be on GMA tomorrow morning. I expect it to be a soft interview since both are ABC shows, but it would be great if they'd just rake him over the coals (they won't).

I knew old Gerry was a phony! Did anyone see the piece written about him on the Hollywood Reporter??? He sounds awful. Total scumbag!!!
Oh wow. It's tough to reconcile the asshole from that story with the nice guy on TV. But THR appears to have the receipts.

It does seem like they are running out of ideas.
They could repeat a challenge from a previous season and I wouldn't know or care, even though I've watched all the seasons.

I really like Jesse as host. He truly seems to want all the contestants to do well. And he is a great balm during judging. When a baker does well he is so happy for them, and when a baker has had harsh or unkind comments from the judges Jesse will say "thank you, (baker's name)" in such a warm kind tone of voice.
He's a great host! Anyone else notice he isn't sampling the desserts this season (at least, not on camera)? In past seasons he was digging in right next to the judges. Maybe trying to stay trim for his various hosting gigs (and his wife!).

So after some careful consideration I’ve chosen who I think Gerry will chose! Theresa the finance gal!
Can you imagine having someone that smart to handle the whole families finances!
Leslie might say she likes sex but Theresa is a proven financial whiz.
Gerry and the producers can try to fool us into thinking 70 year olds are crazy for the hot sheets but the reality is they are really crazy about money.
Work is behind most of us at that age but growing and protecting our nest eggs is essential!
I never did know what about Theresa was attracting Gerry. Now I do. She’s good with money.
It’s Theresa for the win for sure! Watch for it!
Gerry said earlier in the episode that he retired at 55. I'm thinking he knows how to manage his money.

Gerry: "You haven't asked me any of the hard questions."
Leslie: "When was the last time you had sex?"

All this talk about Faith's horse, but Teresa's daughter said she comes over every day. She sees her family every single day. She may come across as needy, but I'm not sure she'd move away from her family. I don't recall if Gerry's family lives nearby to his place, but I don't think any woman should be expected to relocate to the lake home he and his wife chose together.

If allowed, I would dump Gerry and run off with Jesse. Does he get to do more on the regular shows?
I love Jesse. I watch the Holiday Baking Championship which he also hosts and he's great! I wish he had never left his GMA correspondent gig though. He was the S5 Bachelor nearly 20 years ago!

I developed the perfect answer many years ago to the insensitive questions when people would ask me: "How come you aren't married?"
My answer "Am I suppose to be?"
Or,
"Why don't you have kids?"
My answer: "Am I suppose to?"
How can one argue those answers.
Marriage/children is not for everyone. Well, not for me at least. I have traveled the world, had/have many hobbies.
I got married at 45 and got variations of this question many times before that. My stock response was "I haven't met the right guy and I'm not gonna settle for the wrong one."

I'm really embarrassed for all four of them (Gerry included) with these "I love yous" and "I'm in love with you" to someone they hardly know. At their ages that is just foolish. Do they just get caught up in circumstances, is it the producers egging them on, or what? This isn't real life and they seem like they have just completely taken leave of their senses. I expect this of the young and dumb on the regular Bachelor, but these are grown-ass adults. I was literally cringing.
I wasn't expecting a WTA this season. I hope most of the women have realized since taping that they deserve better (Kathy excluded, of course).

I was so intrigued by the rowing in the book that I looked up local rowing clubs! I really wish they'd added a few more scenes with Elizabeth and Calvin rowing because that was a really beautiful and unique part of the growth in their closeness and how she grew to love it.
@shapeshifter you asked in the other thread if 6:30's narration is part of the book -- it is, and it plays a great part in the book's progression. I am not minding it in the show, but I also knew it was coming so it didn't feel like a surprise or off-putting. I like BJ Novak's voice here -- very kind and conveys what 6:30 is feeling.
Aha! Apparently, I should have waited to comment after watching Ep 3, which I haven't yet seen.

Thanks for this info. I found it jarring that Calvin was such a jerk as to forget to show up at that meeting, and I didn't remember that incident from the book, so glad to learn it did not happen in the book. A poor choice, I think.
In the show, Elizabeth is the better scientist, it seems. Was Calvin such a loser scientist in the book?
In the book, which I adored, Calvin was an extremely highly regarded and influential scientist as as well as extremely homely. I guess they decided he needed to be attractive for the show to appeal.
I'm disappointed by the passing reference to rowing when in fact, it was very significant in the book. He brought Elizabeth onto the team, taught her everything, it was something they did together and her participation continued after his death. I suspect they'll make it something she takes up as a tribute, instead. They're following the basic plot but with plenty of changes.
My favorite part of the book was the inner dialogue of Six-Thirty. I knew this couldn't translate to TV, so I don't expect much from the series going forward.

Kathy looks and acts deranged. she manipulated him into a pity rose. YUK.
There's no enjoyment in watching a 70-year-old Mean Girl. I keep telling myself she's getting the villain edit, but even if she's egged on by producers, nobody forced her to say all that crap.

John Corbett is from West Virginia (as was his Northern Exposure character Chris Stevens) so I just assumed they picked Virginia as a nod to that. Weird that they're misrepresenting it, tho. JC would know what it's really like. Not that that means his input, if offered, would be considered.
.
Virginia isn't West Virginia, though. The two states have very little in common IMO.

Exactly! I've visited the Portsmouth/Norfolk area a couple of times in recent years but don't recall any bucolic farmhouse areas. Indeed, it's a rather industrial small port city. Maybe he lives in the "greater Norfolk area", or on the edge of the Great Dismal Swamp (there MPK, I've given you a great location name for Carrie to riff on, like with "Suffern").
I had to laugh, it's like MPK told someone "find a city in Virginia that has short, direct flights to NYC". They might have picked Roanoke (LOL!), at least that general area has mountains/rolling hills and old houses, and an airport. And here many of us were speculating that Aidan and wife had moved to the Virginia horse country, an enclave of the wealthy within an hour of DC. I could understand Richmond, or the area around Charlottesville. But Norfolk? LOL!
It reminds me of the episode of SATC when the prospective adoptee couple come to visit Charlotte and Harry from Charlotte, NC and the show portrays them as rednecks from the sticks. Anthony even has a line calling them "toothless." No basis in reality for the actual city of Charlotte.

S07.E05: You Don't Know Me
in 9-1-1
In our house the wedding took us by surprise. We also have no recall about Marisol. Mr. Jillybean usually remembers this stuff but we don't remember when she came into the picture.
