  1. JONAH IS A FATHER?? Why was nothing done with that at all?? It shook me. Yes and I also am having a hard time believing that Hunter has NO lasting issues. There doesn't seem to be lasting interpersonal consequences in general. For example, Miles' biggest problem with his dad now is that Papa H doesn't see writing as a legit career? Also, why would the Hollingsworths be cool with Frankie hanging out with Esme after her relationship with Miles? Lots of areas of conflict just papered over.
  2. Came here to say the same. I do think that they must have talked about a future trip, maybe even started planning it. Then I think the THs might have been cut to be misleading. We'll see. I do think that Malia gets with and stays with Wes. The trailer for the season has evidence of that.
  3. Adam's classist attitude was so baffling. As if onion is the height of sophistication. Some people just can't tolerate certain tastes or textures. Get over it, Adam. Malia did muddy the waters when it came to Bobby because she compared Bobby to Wes by calling them both "friends" and "pals". She did seem to want to lead him on though by saying if not for Lauren, Bobby is her type of guy. The Nice Guy bit did rub me the wrong way. But I think this is not the end of Wes and Malia, judging from the trailer for the season.
  4. I'd believe him to be 13 or 14. TV shows really mess with my perception of what a teen looks like. Knowing tween age kids, though, I'd say he could be 14. Oh yes the fillers/makeup/hairstyling do age her so much. If she feels good, more power to her. But compared to the other people in the group, she looks like she has 15 years on them. I think that this iteration of Southern Charm has a charisma problem. Even if the Charleston gang was not an organic gang to begin with, they all have the "charm" to socialize and put their best foot forward. Even when they are messy, they seem to be there for one another. No one in the Savannah crew has the charisma to carry the show. Even though some of them appear to be good friends in real life, they don't know how to interact with people in a way that is appealing. Daniel seems to be the only one who has social grace. Yes Lyle is absolutely a pig. So gleeful in trying the prove that Ashley had a low status job. Who cares? And Ashley's victim complex is unbelievable. She keeps going on about how she's always been an outsider. Fine, I understand being artsy and eccentric in a buttoned up world. But that doesn't mean that you understand how Azam or Daniel feel.
  5. Yes! It was like once Betty said "Juggy?" it broke a spell and he looked confused/a little ashamed. Really great.
  6. If they can't pull that off, they're not good actors.
  7. I don't see him whining at all. He seems to be handling all of this heartbreak pretty well. He literally has no home and no parental care. Having Archie put the jacket on was just so weird. I thought initially it would be a way to raise jealousies, but it seemed to not have any impact at all.
  8. True. A key element of Film Noir is that the police can't be trusted or aren't acting appropriately. So I think that there needs to be some established reason for that. Jughead said that Sheriff Keller serves the Blossoms. Why? How? Yes we know that the Blossoms are rich, but have they interfered with the investigation?
  9. I am impressed with him as an actor and I'm glad that Riverdale has introduced me to him. I had had only vague familiarity with him from Suite Life but was too old to be it's audience when it was on. I'm of the Lizzie McGuire/Even Stevens generation. Since Riverdale, Cole, and his twin Dylan, have quickly become some of my favorite people on social media. As for acting, I think that he's hitting his emotional beats well and plays chip-on-his-shoulder very well. So I'm not seeing him as one-note as you, @scorp01. But I am feeling you on the Grundy-ishness. I've only got 6 years on Cole, but since he's playing a teen it's a little weird. That and I remember him looking like a child (though a teen) when I was in my early 20s. Yes getting Archie involved with the core characters was so important for making him more interesting. I would be so heartbroken if this went the way of Beaver! To me, Betty/Juggy have such strong Veronica/Logan parallels (which also makes me think that they will have ups and downs but ultimately be a core couple). So I do think that Juggy could get fingered as the culprit (just like Logan) due to inconsistencies, background, etc. But if he's another Cassidy, I'd be gutted. As for theories, I'm feeling like it has to be a character that is not core, but sort of hiding in plain sight. Much like Aaron Echolls. So really I'd like alibis from many more people since we now know that the crime took place over a week. We know that Jughead had been planning to go on a road trip with Archie. And the type of crime committed (week-long torture) is not something that happens without preplanning. So to me that would eliminate Jughead since he fully expected to be going away with Archie. For the Fred/FP timeline I believe that their partnership must have dissolved years ago, possibly many years ago. Perhaps the business was growing and Fred bought out FP when FP needed the money more than the potential income later. Now FP sees the business as valuable and feels resentful of what could have been. It's reminiscent of Walter White's situation with Elliott/Gray Matter. But then even though FP was bought out, he continued to work as an employee for Fred. That would bring us up to the more recent past where Fred fired him. All the while, FP would have resented having to be an employee of the business that he felt entitled to ownership of. How Fred doesn't know that FP is a gang member is beyond me. Though perhaps he suspects it and just wanted to keep distance from FP in general.
  10. I also would have liked some scene for them to assess their relationship. But I think it was entirely realistic for people their age. Like Jughead saying that walking someone home is what "people like us" do. To me that felt very real for teenagers. I don't read them as them having unequal feelings for one another. Betty shows vulnerability to him, trust in him, and the desire to help him/comfort him. And she is affectionate to him. Her unthinking reaction to him putting her arm around her was not to stiffen, but to put her hand on his. Her reaction to Veronica asking about Jughead was kind of shy and cute. Not like "yeah, um, whatever". She may be distracted, but her pregnant sister was in danger the entire episode. But I do understand where y'all would get that reading from since Jughead is the personification of the heart eyes emoji in some of their scenes.
  11. I'm confused. When did Kevin not like Veronica? The recap mentions it multiple times. Cheryl's #PollyKilledMyBrother and #SharpenYourPitchforks were excellent. I really enjoyed Jughead/FP scenes. They resonated for me. And I think that they were important to foil Archie/Fred. I especially liked that it all underlined that none of them is all good or all bad. That there are a lot of ambiguities and that everyone has some secrets. Important to maintain the film noir vibe. And I did feel the Bughead scenes. I like that the scenes speak to the awkwardness of people who are inexperienced and emotionally stunted. I didn't feel like she was shoe-horned in because we know that Betty and Jughead have been drawn to one another as the rest of their support systems have fallen short. Not loving Archie's jealous looks though!
  12. I think that there was a lot of subtle build up at least to Jughead being interested in Betty. In episode 4 Jughead asks for movie suggestions and he goes with Betty's Rebel Without a Cause choice. Last week he acted jealous when Betty went on a "date" for the investigation. He was also very quick to shut Archie down when Archie asked if he could help with the Polly mission--wanted to keep things just Betty and him.
  13. His boarding passes stress was unbelievable. Jamie was on my nerves a lot last night. He said in a TH that he regretted judging Katy before he knew that she was struggling with personal life issues. Then he later went on to say that he hated her. I was confused. I'm really bothered by the lack of separation between the kitchen and the dining area. The guest lodge should really have a closed off kitchen so that Nikita isn't watching them react to her food and vice versa.
  14. I'm left wondering who pays for the food and drink that the crew has on the ship between charters. Ben, his brother, and Emily were eating a whole lot of caviar. Where does that come from?
  15. All I could think during the episode was, do these groups of people know one another? It was really odd to me that it felt like two groups of people were just placed on one charter, even if only to promote People's Couch. Ben and Emily's relationship is baffling. It actually made me mad that he said "you're so sweet" in reaction to her hiccuping. I felt like he sees her as a cute plaything/doll, not a person. No surprise given the nearly 15 year age gap. But from seeing Chef Ben's Instagram, they are still together.
