  1. I was surprised to hear Antonia tell Hunter that it took five tries before Guy convinced her to come back. I distinctly remember her saying last season that she was going to compete in TOC until she won. I hope she wins and I hope Jet wins, so there you go with a serious conflict. And I most certainly hope Britt wins. On an entirely different note: Are the chefs paid to compete? Sorry if that's been asked and answered.
  2. I wondered about that, too. She sat out a year and this was her comeback.
  3. It was a close call for Jet, but I'm so glad Carlos Anthony is gone. He's like fingernails on the blackboard for me. I wonder if Tiffani was serious about not coming back next year or did I misinterpret her comments after she lost to Amanda?
  4. I'm not familiar with Ann Kim but like her a lot as a judge and hope she'll be invited back. Was very happy at Lena won.
  5. I think there's an invisible line in the sand here: the competing chefs have a vested interest in winning and/or being invited back, whereas with a few exceptions, the judges are beyond that. I'm not expressing this as well as I wish, but having said that I would LOVE to see Nancy versus the Randomizer.
  6. I apologize if this has been asked and answered, but why has Guy given Dale the nickname of Mr. Bogeyman? Dale is new to me and from other posts I gather he's changed for the better from previous appearances on other shows. Pray God Guy doesn't start giving the judges his crazy nicknames.
  7. I had the same question about Karen. That #2 seed puzzles me.
  8. Antonia's reaction after her win was so determined and joyful. Maybe I'm over-analyzing it, but it seemed she was celebrating not only the win, but also unlocking the key to winning --creative use of the randomizer.
  9. The nicknames are bad enough, but it also drives me crazy when he refers to each person as "the one and only..." Guy, each of us is "the one and only" so please get a grip.
  10. Yes, my error. Thanks for the correction.
  11. Yet the winner came from the first group and cooked his way to the Grand Championship. And Josh made an interesting comment to the effect that because he cooked in so many rounds, Peter knew his way around the Chopped Kitchen and the judges' expectations. The fact that the challengers watched each round and heard the judges' comments might be considered an advantage. They observed the strengths and weaknesses of the other chefs and, even though the judges varied from week to week, got a sense of the judging process and specific critiques. I wasn't crazy about the format, but didn't find it unfair.
  12. I don't think Peter is a favorite with the other competing chefs. And, like them, I thought Ryan would be the winner.
  13. Just watched Midsomer Rhapsody and was really stunned by a continuity error. We see green grass, leaves on trees, sun shining until the one scene with about 3" of snow, bare trees, and gloomy skies. And then it's back to green grass, etc. Weather has nothing to do with the plot, but still .... I'm truly puzzled how the snow scene happened. Perhaps the need to re-shoot?
  14. FN would probably counter with the contestants knew what they were getting into. I am wondering if the winners of each round will be brought back in some attempt at fairness. I know Brian Malarky is over the top, but I like him, especially when he's not cooking! His remarks as a judge and his reactions to critiques of his work are spot on.
  15. Or maybe they'll just confront it head on without specific details. I'm not sure if it was The Next Food Network Star or Worst Cooks where a contestant had to be dropped. Apparently there was a brief explanation and life went on.
  16. In the closing minute or two of the "Brackets" reveal, I'm sure I saw Amanda yet she's not a competitor. Am I alone in this or did any of you see her? Upthread I believe someone mentioned she was paired with Darnell so their segment was obviously deleted. I enjoyed the conversation/analysis between Guy, Justin, and Simon. And what is Guy now calling Brooke? B-Duh? Seems my attention was somewhere else every time he said it.
  17. A logical explanation, but using that criteria I would have thought other "losers" would also have had to compete. Oh well, it could also be that Aaron is a favorite and I tend to cheer for him no matter his competition.
  18. I'm watching these later today, and am surprised Aaron May was in a qualifying round. Didn't he compete in an earlier TOC?
  19. How could I have missed that reference?? I've watched ToC since the beginning.
  20. Sorry, I don't get the connection.
  21. "Spin It to Win," a new series, starts tonight with episodes at both 8:00 and 9:00 p.m.
  22. If anybody can pull off the fallout of this situation, it's Guy. No idea what that will look like, but too much is invested and as they say, the show must go on.
