  1. Original air date: February 4, 2024 I almost feel sorry for him.
  2. From what I've read, local law enforcement can simply ask the FBI for help if they need the FBI's resources. The FBI could refuse. If the research facility was on Federal land, or tribal land, then that would fall under federal jurisdiction. But I think if that were the case here, then the police would be obligated to alert the FBI. So far, I don't think we've seen any federal laws being broken, so the FBI would only be able to lend assistance, not take over entirely.
  3. William said something needs to change, but I'm wondering what he expects will change by him moving to NY. Does he think Eliza will miss him so much that she decides to quit her job and become a housewife? Because that's not going to happen. I understand that him working at Scotland Yard and her being a private detective is not working out and hurting their relationship, but by moving to a different country, he basically ended their relationship. It would be nice if he could work at Nash's too, but I don't see him enjoying that. He and Eliza would have to be equals there, and we've seen that William has issues with working with Eliza. Maybe he thinks a change of scenery will help him get some clarity and figure out what he truly wants. Right now, the only way I see them ending up together is if William changes his mindset. As much as I love William and Eliza together, I agree with everyone else who has said that Eliza and Nash seem to make a good pair. Maybe part of that is due to the William and Eliza relationship becoming a bit stale and old. They don't interact as much as they used to, and their storylines together aren't as fun and playful as in earlier seasons. Also, although that kiss was tender, was anyone else a little disappointed with it?
  4. Quoting myself here because I just remembered that they confirmed the tongue was Annie’s, so the cases probably are connected. Although if the boyfriend was keeping it in a freezer, then brought it out when he went mad, it still doesn’t mean that her murder and the scientists deaths are connected. I could see the murderer cutting out her tongue as a warning, or a punishment for speaking out against the mines (or something she learned about the research facility?), and then leaving it behind at the crime scene. But then the boyfriend finds her body first and keeps the tongue for some weird ritual.
  5. I haven’t had any issues with figuring out the relationships on this show. What I am having trouble with is the main mystery. Normally at this point I would have some theories, but I’m pretty much at a loss. There just seems to be so many random threads that I can’t figure out how they’re connected. Seems like it would be a bit of a let down if the frozen men were simply killed by an organism that infected their brain and made them go mad. Also, just because Annie was dating one of the scientists doesn’t mean the cases are connected. Although they probably are.
  6. I knew it was Pat as soon as he started singing and I saw his silhouette but I couldn’t think of his name even with the Patrick clue! I had to pause the show for a minute and then it finally came to me. I’m not sure I would have gotten it in time if I was on the show. I knew the others were a football player and a real housewife, but I don’t watch either so I was clueless there. I normally fast forward through most of the filler stuff, so Anthony’s mom doesn’t bother me too much. She’s unneeded, but she doesn’t seem to have that big of a role on this show compared to some of his other shows.
  7. One could argue that the glorying of it is appropriate to the time period. One thing that bothers me about a lot of recently-made period tv shows/movies is that they try to give the characters modern ideals, instead of staying true to the time period. Although I suppose they could have had at least one character voice their concern, because I'm sure there were a few people back then who were against hunting. Spencer doesn't really seem to enjoy killing the animals, but seems to do it as a twisted way to stave off his PTSD. The show could have delved into that more, but instead they romanticized it and used it as a way for him and Alex to hook up.
  8. Ivy said something to Eliza about how she didn't think Rupert was the marrying type. Eliza asked her what she meant, but Ivy didn't respond. I always got the impression that Eliza didn't know he was gay until Rupert told her. I think that's when their friendship took off, because Eliza no longer had to worry about unwanted advances. I would have preferred to see more of young Rupert in this episode than Mrs. Parker.
  9. One of the writers of this episode is Rachel New, who is the creator and original writer of season 1. The other writer is her husband. She said they were in agreement right away that it should be Eliza to initiate the kiss. Perhaps Rachel regretted the way she originally wrote the kiss in season 1. They give a lot of reasons for why they changed it, but it kinda comes across as them trying to worm their way out of retconning the original script. Either way, I think it was silly to change it. Here is the exact transcript of that part of the podcast from the PBS site. There's much more in the podcast episode so I would recommend reading or listening to it. I read the transcript on the site as opposed to listening to it. Next episode will have Stuart Martin!
  10. I guess I'm the only one who didn't like the casting for Eliza. I didn't see much similarity in the look or mannerisms. I would have preferred an actress who looked younger, and was thinner/more petite. Her lack of social graces definitely matched up though! Although I attribute that to the script. I was mostly annoyed that they decided to retcon their first kiss. I think it was in the first season when they mention that William kissed Eliza, and that she slapped him afterwards. But here we see that she initiated the kiss, which honestly seems a bit of out of character for her. I just googled it to make sure I was remembering it correctly, and came across a podcast with the writers who said they thought a slap would ruin a lovely moment. They thought it would be more fun and would show more female empowerment if Eliza initiated the kiss. The character's memories are fuzzy, hence the difference from the season 1 retelling. They also say that Eliza rewrote the memory in her head. Ugh, I just find that all so dumb! I guess I will have to rewrite my memory of this episode in my head to fit my headcanon. 😆
  11. Would she have been considered critically missing though? They hadn't even checked the security tape yet. My local news station did a story recently about some people who wanted to change the Amber alert criteria because it's so difficult to meet. In the past 10 years, only 57 Amber alerts in my state have been issued despite thousands of children going missing every year. Most are runaways and are found. A child must be confirmed to be abducted and in danger before an alert can be issued, so I don't think that part of the script was accurate. You'd think the show would have at least one or two law enforcement professionals to fact-check the script.
  12. A lot of little things about this episode bothered me. Basically contrivances to move the plot forward. I thought it was odd that they put up crime scene tape and put out an amber alert for a teen that was missing for such a short time. I don’t think that would have happened in real life. The man bringing in the doll saying he “found the girl” made no sense, except to psych us out. Then there was the other psych out with the girl in the bag in the tub. Why was her head above water? And did Olivia really take a bracelet off of one of the dolls? Wouldn’t that be considered evidence? I wonder if she’ll be wearing it next episode. Or all season for that matter. Also, like others have said, I thought it was dumb that Olivia had to visit Rollins, who is all of a sudden an expert on criminology, in order to get the advice to check the people who had purchased the dolls because maybe their urges were escalating. Duh. Oh, I also LoL’d at the mom saying they moved to NYC because they thought it would be safer. Overall an interesting premise, just poorly executed with some bad writing.
  13. When they showed the census with his third wife, Levar read that his wife was 44, but I thought it clearly said 24. It bothered me so much that I looked up the census and it was transcribed as 24. Which means he was in his 40s when he got a 14/15 year old pregnant. I know it was different times back then, but it kinda irked me. It’s possible the show found other records that prove that she was 44 and that the 1910 census had her age wrong. I don’t think Wes is inarticulate, per se, just very quiet and reserved. Although some of the long pauses were a bit uncomfortable. He was clearly processing the new information.
  14. I thought Bob’s art was amazing. It’s too bad that he only wanted to sell the abstract pieces. I think selling more of them could increase the popularity of his art and allow more people to see them. It would also be nice if he could have exhibits throughout the country, but I don’t know how you would even go about doing that. I googled his art, hoping to find some pictures, but only came across one on an auction site. Although some of the cleaned rooms still looked a bit cluttered, they were a big improvement. But there’s no way I would sit on any of that furniture. It’s shows like this that make me wary of buying anything secondhand. Regarding the commercial buildings around the house, looking at the older photos on the website, I think it was built similar to a row house. There used to be buildings touching the house, so the only windows on the sides of the building are closer to the back. Seems like it’s the only building from that time period still standing, which makes it look really out of place. Due to the location, I worry about the future of the house once Bob passes. Old homes are expensive to care for.
  15. I had to google it but apparently Wilson Phillips perform at the end of the film.
  16. I had no idea on the football player. I could tell from the clues that he played for the Panthers, but that didn't help at all. As soon as Jojo started singing and moving around I knew it was her. The only clue I recognized for her was the giant bow though. She was just on Special Forces on FOX, so FOX is really recycling their celebs. I feel dumb for not getting Carnie sooner. I thought the grandfather reference was a red herring, and never thought they'd actually sing that grandfather's song! It wasn't until someone mentioned that Wilson might refer to the last name, that I was able to put everything together. Then it seemed so obvious! I only saw Bridesmaids once and don't remember much, so at first I thought it might be Melissa McCarthy, going off of the silhouette, but none of the clues made any sense for her. I agree without the person above who said these clues are a lot easier than The Masked Singer! Some of the contestants give horrible guesses! Why would you guess a man when it's clearly a woman singing? I recognized some of the constants from the first episode. I'm guessing they film a few episodes back to back.
  17. Same. I was bummed he was in the bottom four but hopeful he could pull off a save… until he started singing. I had to fast forward through his performance. She’s funny but I don’t find her voice very pleasant to listen to. And would it kill her to smile just once? I think her woman in black schtick is growing old. I think she realized that she’s not connecting with the viewers and finally took off her glasses for her save song. I think she deserved to go through simply because she sang the most in tune out of the four. Overall the save performances were underwhelming to down right bad.
  18. It seemed like they were annoyed that they thought he was faking being cold and that he was complaining too much. I thought it was strange and unfair that they booted him. I wonder if the contestants have watched the previous season. Then they'll know that the trick to the final task is to finally give in and tell the truth. Unless the staff tell them that ahead of time. Doesn't seem like a very obvious thing otherwise.
  19. I love Noah’s voice even though I’m not a country fan. I was shocked that Niall didn’t save him, but you could tell he was conflicted about what to do.
  20. The coins were interesting, but I doubt they have anything to do with the supposed treasure. When Marty asked Who would have all these different coins? Did anyone else say to themselves, umm a coin collector?
  21. On the behind the scenes clip after the episode, the actor also mentioned that he ended up in Oregon. I’m thinking Josef traveled with Thomas. It’s going to be really difficult for him to build a homestead and to farm with only one leg. Not impossible, just harder than it already would be.
  22. I feel like the loud bang could have been anything falling in that building, but the chime was interesting. Even before they said anything, I thought it sounded like an elevator chime. I wish they would have tried to debunk it, but I guess they didn’t want to waste time on it.
  23. Are you sure those aren’t lyrics to a Billie Eilish song? 😆 I think both Chris and Gabriel overreacted, but I can see why Chris got so upset. It did sound like a personal attack on his character and upbringing.
  24. JR because he guessed Chris’ relative wrong. If you have a DVR, you can probably watch the episode on Demand through your cable company.
  25. I did! I just happened to come across it and saw that Josh was in the episode, so I watched it. I don’t believe in ghosts, and I have a hard time believing Jess every time she experiences something, so I just try to debunk everything. The photo they took with the shadow was interesting, along with the mass grave. I’m glad they were able to make a match with one of the markers. Josh getting a scratchy voice all of a sudden was also interesting, but it seemed to go away a little while later. And it probably could have just been due to dust or something nasty in the air.
