  1. Just look at how common a practice this was for the Vikings. The assumed rapes were brutal with blood running down the girls legs. It wasn't a pleasant scene by any means. Some here call it SOP but I think not. This type of violence normally is performed by a rogue squad of people. Condoned from above. To the Vikings this was absolutely standard practice. Even King eckbert claimed the kingdom without bloodshed. It's sometimes disturbing to watch these shows, but as long as they give some "what comes around goes around" it's good. It is a tv show and good entertainment. I'm enjoying the Wessex and pilgrimage storyline very well.
  2. Some good points about violence in that time period, it wasn't just the Vikings, it was everyone. Some of you are really into these series and are up to snuff on where things are going. Do you think Rome will come into play? Some here ask why I watch Vikings, since I don't like Vikings. Well, I like seeing them beaten, I also like the other stories they are digging into. Paris, Wessex, and possibly Rome? Hope you all have a nice weekend.
  3. Me neither. as I've stated, I think Vikings are cowards. No honor, none. I hope the Frank's win. Kind of like a mid evil super bowl. :-)
  4. Did the actor's face who plays Ragnar look exceptionally fat on that close up? Is he well in real life?
  5. After her last few months of being in heat for Rollo, she's probably pregnant. I don't think a fake one there, unless Rollo's been wearing underwear that is too tight. Judging by his lose wearing pimp garb, I would say he's fine too. :)
  6. You are right. Vikings are pigs, but this series is fun (from an action/drama standpoint) and keeps me watching. First I must say that this episode was perfect. Nothing lame in it to critique for a change. Still tired of Ragnor being a "stoner". lol. Glad the Chinese chick is fish food. I really thought Bjorn was toast! Nice job with that shock in the episode. Had me fooled for that short period. They really killed the feeling of time/reality with how fast those people chopped down a forest of trees and build all of that stuff to move the boats. Yeah right!!! that's is a year of endless labor there, yet it seems they did it in about a month (judging by Floki's wife and how she has healed. I've hated the Floki character from day one, but for once I liked him? Didn't seem like a mental weirdo this episode. Enjoyed it. King Ecbert. Oh how he's fun. I never liked that queen lady. She was a "Black Widow", killing everything in her path. A pure psychopath. Not that she didn't get worked over as a kid, but 2 wrongs don't make a right. The King's ambition and deal with the Devil will not end well. Rollo. This one has to play out. I'm not sure where they are taking this story. One thing I do feel coming is another bad ending for Paris. After all, the show is called Vikings for a reason. Hubbard... SIGH. Someone kill that guy off, please. All in all, they opened up the story for a lot of bad endings for a lot of characters. This is going to get good!
  7. Upon further evaluation of the script, wonder if the Romans will eventually be engaged by the Northmen. Boy would that be a mistake! Would make for a great series finale.
  8. This confuses me. Grotesque killing, no sense of loyalty. A pure savage society. The Vikings were anything but admirable. BUT, it makes for an exciting and interesting series, doesn't it? Fidelity. ROFL. When the cat is away, all the mice get laid. And by a old weird cat at that!
  9. Yes it has. But is wasn't covered up in the past. It was for all to see. Well about the Vikings being the welfare people of that time period. I guess it makes a good analogy. They really are not producers, but just take from civilizations that do produce and build. They live like rats, tattoo and treat their bodies like shit. In many ways maybe they are worse. It was so nice seeing Paris defend itself this time. Properly. I don't really care for Rollo and the whole love shack thing, but it was the right thing to do. Now, I am not ignorant. The "Christians" of that time period were utterly brutal, terrible. No better than how Vikings treated those that didn't believe in their God(s). I've never liked religious prosecution of any sort. It's a private thing that should be kept at home. In some ways, society hasn't improved much since those times, just more secretive.
  10. Perfect post. :). Just glad it's gotten away from going the soft porn route for ratings. Now just want the civilized folks to thin this Viking ranks. Rather fun watching this for a completely different reason than it is produced. Yeah, that will go well. Lol. Funny post
  11. While I like Ragnar, I don't care much at all for Vikings, they are like the welfare of the ages. Produce nothing, take everything. I like seeing them die. Go Rolo. Believe it or not, I rather enjoy the politics of the period, it's interesting.
  12. The rollo/gisla scene at Christmas was just dumb. No way in hell that would happen like that. Ruined that whole dynamic. Turned a relatively serious show into a lifetime original. Come on!
  13. Honestly, really? That was terrible. After kind of enjoying the last 4 seasons, what a "poof/Fizzle" of a Mason start. Man i'm sick of that character and his drama. On the other hand The Last Ship is rockin.
