  1. Throughout this episode I kept wondering one thing.  Would the creature show any sort of emotion or attempt to communicate.  In the end all it live for is to feed.  I really need to read the books!

best characters this episode go to Amos, Bobby and the electrician who let Bobby go.   Lol.  I've finally started to like the body guard who got shot.  He's loyal.

  2. The past two episodes have been the best.  This feels like a deep story driven si-if show without reaching into the lame jar.  It is something a thinking person can enjoy!

i want to watch it again for one funny comment Amos made again.  Love the writing, amazing show.  I will have a rough time finding something interesting to watch when this season ends.

Damn good show.  Love the direction and deflections.

  3. This was one of the best episodes yet.  Intriguing, suspenseful and interesting.  Still think Amos is my favorite character.  Also, not much belter crap.

If this follows the book.  Does Amos transform much from his current character?

"Boring" is subjective, of course. But I'll tell you this: It would be a completely different show without the Belters. They are one of the foundations of the story. Honestly, if you find them that annoying, I'm not sure this show is for you. That's not my call, obviously, but I can pretty much guarantee you a 100% chance there will be more Belter stuff for as long as this show exists. Just saying...

Yeah, maybe not.   I love sci-if and the show was showing some really cool things in the story.  The belter thing is so cliche it just feels out of place.  There is enough story in the mars/earth/alien category to make it interesting.  Maybe it's the accent, the tattoos or the haircuts, but it just distracts from the show.

  5. just put Drummer and Amos together, solve two problem personalities.  I wish they would leave Amos alone, he's the only person in the whole show that makes sense.

  6. I personally enjoyed the pace of this episode.  Had a more real feel to it.  A few things.

    • Was it me or did Amos have too much makeup on.  He looked funny.. Eyes?  Love the character.  Only one I really like.  Life to him is light and dark, it's one way or the other.
    • Holden isn't very intelligent, nor does he have any balls.
    • The hairstyles from the 80's still crack me up.
    • It was obvious to me that the marines were shooting things and backing up.  It should have been very obvious to the martians.  The new aliens, just plain creepy.

  7. Eh.  That whole love scene was overplayed and the orchestration not very good.  Regardless, the production is top notch!   Love this show.

Damn the show for making Floki likeable again!  I swore I'd never like the weasel again after he killed Athelstan. Looking forward to the expedition to the med with Bjorn, Floki and Helga (and presumably Torvi).

I think I'm done with Paris now.  Be happy if they let Rollo (who also seems to have not aged) go off to his historical future and leave us with the Vikings and the English (who I can't give up because Linus Roache is awesome, plus I want to see Alfred grow up).

Oh not to worry.  Floki will not seem so nice soon enough.  Not much to like about that twerp.

I believe they are done with Rollo for the most part.  He won and deserves it.  Besides things point to the story returning to England.   Ragnar has a score to settle.

  9. Since this show has been following a lose version of history, what role will that hag Aslaug (spelling) play in the foreseeable future?  I think she grinds on my nerves worse than any other character in the series.   Well, Hubbard is close.

  10. Ivar, NOT Ivan.  He isn't Russian.  Sorry, don't mean to "shout" but someone else mentioned this above and we are still getting Ivan every time.  And a lone, individual psychopath isn't just native to Scandinavia in the 800's.

I think it's the auto spellcheck kicking in. It kicks my ass on this iPad. Ivar seems to always get turned to Ivan

    Other than that, great post

  11. I believe though in the big history sweepstakes

Rollo wins handily over Ragnar - IMO Ragnar, who died in a snake pit and may actually historically be more legend than real can't compare to Rollo who started a powerful line that continues to this day and has influenced European history for centuries. Normandy became significant really quick after being given to Rollo.

Rollo won this in a big way. Live to die in a shithole or live where you can create your legacy. What culture stands now? Certainly not one by the Vikings. Paris came out quite well.

If the show is following history, we are about to see some very nasty stuff from Ivan the boneless. Probably some pretty grotesque things, which is one reason I despise the savagery society of the Vikings.

Watching the battle scene, Rollo definately saved Ragnar and also called off the attack to let them go. He knew he accomplished the defense of Rome and it was "mission accomplished".

No we turn back to Wessex. Oh how nasty that is going to be.

  12. I just have to say that the scene in Paris with Rollo being crowned Ceasar lifted my spirits. Best part of this episode.

Now about Ivan and Floki. Remember that Floki has been Ivan's teacher. There will be much more to this story. Though I would be perfectly fine if Ivan was just written off and we move on with history. I don't find that character compelling in the least.

    Excellent balanced episode.
