Yes, he is the one who is always critical of Richmond and Ted. His comment here is the “they’re just on a lucky streak” one. Don’t care about Nate and thought it was very on-point that he created the Love Hounds but only wanted to talk about himself and not the other guy’s issue. He hasn’t changed at all. His girlfriend is named Jade. I hope Issac’s only issue with Colin is that he is sad Colin didn’t feel he could confide in him earlier. I am so meh on Keeley right now that I don’t care if she ends up with anyone. Loved Juno’s expressions as she read the statement. Hated the joke Jack made about Barbara, who was indeed sympathetic. Love Trent, as always. And love that Rebecca talked Ted off the ledge. Beard’s talk with Henry was my favorite moment. My older sister used to play the “game” with me when we needed to clean our room. That made me laugh, especially when we see Bears, Roy, and Trent watching. Will is quite adorable.

I thought Nate was ridiculous for being upset that Roy didn’t want to kill him. I’m sure Roy was angry until Keeley told him how embarrassed and apologetic Nate was. Very different scenario than Keeley’s ex boyfriend telling her he loved her. I think loveinbob is right that Nate doesn’t know himself and is emotionally immature. Problem for me is he is also a bully and overreacts exponentially to situations in ways that are cruel and toxic. I don’t want him back in this circle anymore.

I respectfully disagree with some of your post, especially the above quote. When the manager of the restaurant is gushing over him and makes the comment “from one manager to another,” Nate is quick to point out that they aren’t really the same. He brags to Jade about his new job and introduces his date to her as a famous supermodel. We haven’t seen him interact with his players beyond the “dum-dum” line. To whom has he been nice beyond the girl he wants to date? And right now we are seeing him happy because life is going great; what do we get when the team starts to lose or he has one critic not agreeing he’s a wonder kid? He even programmed his own phone to compliment him. It is true that abusers often were abused themselves; they should still be held to account. I’ve said before that after their sensitive exploration of mental health issues, this show cannot let Nate’s story end as “if you put up with someone’s toxic and abusive behavior long enough, he/she just might change.” They can redeem Nate all they want, but he should have to live with regrets. I don’t want a big hug-out with Ted. I want Nate to find out about the photo and how he betrayed a man who wanted nothing but the best for him. I don’t want Ted to dismiss the apology as unnecessary. I’m tired of the mistaken impression that forgiveness means there can’t be boundaries or repercussions.

That was my take, especially as the story became more fanciful.

Whenever I see Joel I am reminded of a scene in Newsroom when one character calls another a douche and he replies, “yes I am, but I’m a douche on the side of the angels.” I like that there will always be love between these two, and I don’t mind that he wants to step in and protect Midge from the Russian mob.

I seriously doubt this would happen, but I now would find it satisfying if Nate's comeuppance came because Ted wants to be back in the US and they need a new head coach, Nate wants to come home and lead his former team, Rebecca leaves it up to the team (including Will) to make the decision, and Nate can hear/learn that he doesn't get the position because of his past behavior.

That’s my issue, and maybe it’s more realistic that he doesn’t apologize to Ted. I have certainly had relationships end badly and not gotten closure. For all I know they think they are the ones who were treated badly. The problem is that the show made it clear that Nate is toxic and now seems to think we care about his love life.

And maybe every time the relationship ends she has to clean up the mess and change companies to be COO for the next love interest. Given the size of her snow globe collection, that could explain why she’s been standoffish and now annoyed with Keeley.

So delightful, though too much Nate. He’s dead to me (so far). Did Keeley take Jack to Taste of Athens? I’m not wild about a very last minute reunion where the couple kisses while credits roll. I’m starting to think that may happen with Roy/Keeley, though I can no longer tell if they are even endgame anymore. Jack’s love bombing hasn’t matched her personality IMO, and don’t even get me started on the Jane Austen mess. Almost took me out of the whole episode. I did love Rebecca’s reaction to Jack paying their dinner bill. I loved Ola! Please let this be a long visit. Roy’s self-loathing over his puns was awesome! Jamie continues to delight as well. I just want to hug the whole team. Seeing them at the restaurant was perfect. Do I want/need to look up what “pegging” is?

As much as I love Hannah’s voice, Rebecca is coming close to breaking out in song a little too much for me.

I’m not clutching my pearls about gullible children who might be watching the show; I’m saying they made Rebecca beyond stupid to be making choices even pre-teens have learned not to do. It made her look stupid in the worst rom-com setup ever, and that’s the hill on which I’m willing to die. Clearly YMMV.

David Schwimmer was a delight! You could tell how much being on the show meant to him.

I’m surprised at the number of people who loved this, considering how many hated Beard’s night out. I found the two episodes very similar and liked - but didn’t love - both.

I have no issues with rom com’s. I just hate that her meet cute is her doing everything we drill into our children not to do. Have them share a table at a crowded restaurant, get stuck in an elevator, anything other than “if you’re in a foreign country and lose your phone while being catcalled by a stranger, by all means go home with him and eat and drink everything he offers you and spend the night sleeping in his ex’s clothes because he’s hot and probably okay.” My imagination doesn’t go that far.

We saw it and really enjoyed it! I don’t know enough about Nike to notice, but husband said Ben was absolutely channeling Phil Knight. Anyone else chuckle when they mentioned at the end all the billions Phil has donated to charity? That was not germane to the story so I figure was something the real Phil required. Fun story with so many flashbacks to my childhood. Ben really is a great director to add tension to a story we already know. One quibble: in a couple of spots they mention Hakeem Olajuwon, pronouncing the “H.” Actually, his name was misspelled and mispronounced as “Akeem” all through his college and early NBA years. One thing I was reminded about was watching a long news segment in the late 80's/early 90's about the shoe wars and Nike's signing of Michael Jordan. They took us through the history of Converse, Adidas, and Nike and ended with all the money the three had spent on advertising and superstars and then said Nike had beaten them all to rise to number 2 in the world. They went on to say, "You're surprised? You're wracking your brains to figure out who is number 1? A sneaker company with no advertising and no superstars. You know why?" They then flashed to an aerobics class and said, "Reebok knows that women work out, too."

I really enjoyed the episode and think it’s set up some great movement forward in everyone’s lives, but I clearly didn’t love it as much as y’all did, mostly because I found the Rebecca/hot Dutchman so unbelievable. Worst meet cute in bad rom-com. In real life, I would not shower in the home of a stranger and drink the tea just because his note promised he didn’t drug it. We would never have even made it to the weird foot kiss. Sure, force of habit but if he can’t tell a child’s foot from a grownup’s . . . Husband and I also hated that dress she wore while her clothes dried. I found myself wondering if that outfit could even go in the dryer. I loved everyone else’s storyline and all the callbacks to the past (though if I were a hotel employee I wouldn’t have been as delighted to watch the lobby pillow fight, given I would have to clean up all the feathers). Roy falling off the bike was the laugh I needed, and I also loved Jamie’s encouragement for Roy to try to hit him. He knows exactly how to motivate Roy to do his best!

Speaking of Cleveland . . . Last night’s game was fun to watch!

The scene started at the middle of it and played for laughs: ”He was always so condescending in the way he talked to me.” ”Ted, our time is up.” ”Yep. He’d say that but it was the way he said it - like [repeats line in condescending way].” ”No, Ted, I’m saying our time is up.” And then she hung up on him.
