That said, the revolving door of people is annoying.

If they did a comic "Murphy Brown's secretary" rotation of paramedics, that could be amusing for a while. You wouldn't expect to get invested in anyone.

He is desperately in need of therapy before he makes another big life decision.  Jumping from one kind of relationship to another isn’t cool, it’s sad. He should resolve the fact that he nearly died and before that, he had a brother who died and no one told him until he was an adult.

He's.. been successfully in therapy since 2020? All that was seasons ago.

  3. The Turners were as terrible as the Aylwards this week:

    • no one was keeping track of the girls for a hell of a long time
    • Angela just wanders back after gathering shells and completely ignoring May rather than doing what any sibling would do, which is nagging May for her turn
    • Jesus christ, how long is that straight, open, deserted beach??
    • There's no one in the flat water but one lone unattended child and no one can spot her, knowing she's in the water?
    • They get the kid home and immediately reward her with cuddling and stuffing her with iced buns? JFC, I get being glad that she's alive, but come on. The girls already ran amuck, let's not give her treats for it. She should be in trouble, not being a smug shit about hogging her candy haul.
    • Also, Patrick was right, he should have taken her in for a chest x-ray just to be safe - that's free from the NHS, right? She horked up a lot of water, so aspiration should be assumed.

I mean, thank goodness Timothy has his shit together.

Eddie  played his part to perfection  tonight. DH is Catholic,  and everything  he said made us laugh.

Heh, and Bobby's "Lapsed Catholic, still a Catholic" line. Yup.

    • I wasn't surprised that Buck was actually crushing on Tommy, not worried about his friendship with Eddie
    • If anyone was going to be the bi/pan one of the pair, it was Buck, not Eddie. Eddie never came off as potentially flexible to me, while Buck could have, imho.
    • The final scene btw Tommy and Buck was amazingly acted, and actually made me feel right there with them
      • God, I can't imagine Guzman trying to get through that without making me cry and not the good kind of crying. That's one reason I would not have been behind a Buck/Eddie pairing.
    • I'm soooooo glad it was Tommy they brought back for this and not Lucy. Thank you, thank you, thank you, scheduling gods. I always liked him in the flashbacks and he left the 118 under good terms, unlike Sal.
      • Speaking of, was it Tommy that Chim called to air-dump the water on the fire that one time? (S2 E14) I thought that phone call had been a callback to one of the flashback characters.
    • I loved the Buck-Maddie conversation:
      • "So stop acting like one!" in unison
      • Maddie's reaction to the idea of hurting the one you "love" to get their attention
      • These two have always had such good sibling chemistry

They killed two bad guys (one of whom they tried to redeem along the way) and one good guy, and 2 of the 3 were Black.

There was also the guy who was killed by the first bomb, the communications officer, so it was 3 out 4.

    We had

    • Julian  (white)
    • Wes (black)
    • Casino A-hole (black)
    • Comms Officer (black)
    • Signal Guy (white) [I assume he died; he was in the crow's nest when the wave hit]

Although we saw survivors on the rescue ships from the lifeboats, daaamn, those lifeboats were just big rowboats, so I have no idea how any of them survived that hell-wave. Imagine the irony if Mom and Cory were the only survivors of that family...

They have earned their pay, so they can do whatever the hell they want with the corny dialogue and the ridiculous plot.

And the grunting. Seriously, rewatch it and realize how much grunting, groaning and random noises these two make.

I'm still not sure why the pump room filled up with water because of an electrical short (and how that helped right the ship). But I'm very impressed smuggler guy managed to open that door, have an entire room full of water drain past him into the hallway and yet was still fresh as a daisy.

As far as getting someone to pay attention to a missing cruise ship, doesn't the US have, I don't know, a Navy? They certainly have CIS in every port. Or, you know, the Coast Guard?

Ah. but the Coast Guard was "working the hurricane", so apparently a cruise ship doesn't warrant their attention?

the same thing was brought up that people go into nursing because it's a calling and not for the pay.  Of course my sassy mouth had to speak back.

Is that what they used to call "exposure"? Neither Exposure Bucks nor Calling Cash pay the rent or feed the family.

I don't really buy Athena being worried about being alone with Bobby after so many years, and even less that she's being weird about it instead of being upfront

I'm thinking that Athena's issue might be more with her being idle than being alone with Bobby. We know she won't retire until they pull her bodily off the streets. And here they have Lola and Nathan parading their retirement escapades in front of them and Bobby signing up for a ton of activities and she's panicking at the idea of retirement. Rather than examine that, she redirects that panic of the unknown towards something she knows is solid - her relationship with Bobby.

And Bobby will reassure her and ride it out with her and get her out of her head. Eventually.

But that's just my theory for why she's acting the fool. :)

  10. Yeah, once Jon talked about the demographics, I seriously wondered how well any of this would stick. They had a dive bar feel at best and I don't think he brought them up so high they could compete with what must be in the area.

Yyyyeah, dig yourself a bigger hole. 'Cause there's nothing a hospital plagued by doctors that run off half-cocked wants more than more doctors who can't control themselves.

Ugh, all the 10-year-old girls trying to be "sassy"... Looking at you, Remy. Stop with the hands and faces and <waves hand at Remy> all this. Lilo and Bre, you're on the edge. Pull it back.

Asher Joel Osment. "I've been cooking since I was 2!" Yeah, calm down there, kiddo, but I like your style.

Why does Lydia always look like she's expecting a beating?

Cheese Curd does indeed look like the Mini Me of a Wisconsin Cheesehead. Nice dish! That steak made me hungry.

Pageant Girl Jordyn worried me for a moment with the backstory, but seems down-to-earth.

Miles was adorable with the assistive devices, was well-spoken and not wired, so plus. But dude, he TOLD you not to make it an actual smiley face. He TOLD YOU. A really nice mash with some roasted balsamic brussels sprouts plated like a normal dish would have has you safe for sure. Sneezing paprika all over the plate didn't help.

Jason - who the fuck thinks gummy bears in a savory entree are a good idea? Also, Lilo, just cook good food - no one needs the illusion work this early in when you can't produce well-cooked steak chunks.

I’m absolutely figuring it was the parents or somebody in the church who hired the offender to “convert” Noah back to heterosexuality.

Yeah, I was stunned absolutely no one mentioned that.

I really liked this episode. Voight was more the man he used to be when he could be vulnerable. He's seemed so lost since losing Al. Having someone to take care of should be interesting - I hope Noah stays around a while, even if in the background after his storyline wraps up.

The store has bulletproof doors but not the windows? Kevin told Corey and Teresa to stay put but they didn’t listen. So STFU, Teresa.

Yeah, I didn't see Teresa jumping back in through the window to help her husband after their bad choices.

  15. They went on and on about 51 always being their home, that they would always come back, etc, etc - Makes me wonder if they're just planning for Eamonn to leave and Jesse to come back as the Captain of 51.

Severide is already primed to captain OFI or move on full-time to that task force if necessary. I would be a little surprised if Stella decided she wanted kids. (I was always bummed that Severide and Shay never had that kid together.)

I can't imagine them bringing up Cruz and Mouch trying for the Lt exam without following through, but yeah, running out of open mgmt slots unless they plan to SPLIT the cast into different shifts? That would be unique, I think, for these kind of shows and would let them have the high-rollers on fewer episodes.

  16. Will we find out that there were rules that forced the Sweat guys to not do jack shit to effectively plug the holes in the minuscule buckets? Jelly was at least TRYING to plug the holes with his fingers; other guy kept walking off with half the holes just dumping water out.

Line it with your buff! Plug the holes with stick or rocks as you walk back! Something! Of course they weren't going to fill the jars even if they had all day. They'd have had more luck soaking their clothes and wringing them out.
