  1. Weighing in: I never noticed or cared about Tara's body. When the sand walker's emerged from the sand I was transported to Sid's backyard sandbox in Toy Story. I can believe that these groups have not run into each other until now. It could easily have taken Tara a few to several days to walk back. Staying in the boat one night, the curio shop another, etc.. how many of us wanted to see it all spelled out for us?!
  2. It will be interesting to see the interaction between Travis and those guys when they show up. Speculation: 1. They will want Travis to cover for them while they turn over a new leaf. or 2. They'll be pissed at Travis because Chris either stole the truck or did some fool thing that caused them and the truck to be over run. Travis will want to off them but can't because they are the last link to his son. or 3. After seeing the hotel light they decide to hide the truck and see what they can find out about the hotel and its resources. They leave Chris behind so they have an outside guy for their two pronged assault. Chris will either show up and accidently kill someone important or show up with that intent, but seeing his loved ones has an epiphany, grows up and helps them escape after the doofus brothers cause mayhem. Or 4. Chris steals the truck and gets hisself up to Tijuana. While taking a leak on the side of the road, Nick and Luciana who are escaping big problems in colonia spot an unattended truck and steal it. Chris stands alone in the desert looking into the distance. Somewhere, Ofelia is also driving a stolen truck.
  3. I don't get a couple of things, and they both seem to be revolving around Natalie and her sour grapes. 1. How is it that James made a bad decision by keeping Cory instead of Victor? Why is it his fault that there was a twist that gave someone a chance to get back in the game and Victor happened to win it? I get that Natalie and Victor were aligned originally but it was smart to vote out a challenge monster like Victor. 2. Why is it that Nicole and Cory are disloyal? They had good relationships with Paul/Victor and James/Natalie and voted out Michelle, the only person there who was actively and loudly proclaiming her desire that Nicole be evacuated. I mean, James and Natalie and Michelle never spoke with Nicole when she was hoh so technically they were assuming things. Not only that, but to assume that Nicole and Cory were against them has no merit since neither of them were on the block and both of them - and Cory had an equal chance to win HoH. So, really Natalie is sour grapes because her alliance didn't win hoh. It is my feeling that it has been her attitude of paranoia and cluelessness that has betrayed her.
  4. Me too. Of course no one wants to poke the bear; but there also seems to be an undercurrent groupthink that treats Ashley as though her actions aren't as reprehensible as they would be if she were sexually experienced - this is so ridiculous- that she is innocent or somehow childlike and not to be held responsible for her actions simply because she hasn't yet engaged in intercourse. Does this mean that women aren't to be taken seriously or be held accountable, that they are only children until active with a man? I realize we are talking about a dating show. The people on it are hot to find a mate and are more likely to have this attitude than other groups. But wow. Her portrayal as the Virgin Mary in the opening credits really bothers me. The remote parallel to be drawn is ridiculously materialistic. Her behavior is not even in accordance with the Biblical admonition to remain chaste! Her history of avoiding the home plate is in no way to be compared to the unusual biological circumstance around the pregnancy of a selfless woman who might have remained happily and utterly unknown had she not given birth to the Christ. Just because you haven't had sex doesn't mean you are by default a saint, an innocent, or a hero. Her apology was as forced and self serving as any made by a non repentant rapist.
  5. Agreed, Jared and Ashley are friends and like to spend time together. They keep telling us that. I have no problem believing it. How that works out for the two of them is to be seen. A whole lot of vicious, jealous dishonesty has been revealed in Ashley. Jared is also revealing himself to be an ass. First, he led Caila to believe he saw a future with her. He even left the show with her. Ok then It sounds like he didn't give the relationship much of a chance if he was constantly allowing himself to be distracted by others. That's still all fine and good but what makes him an ass is that he has in no way been empathetic to Caila's position in this situation. He behaves just as badly as Ashley when he decides to defend Ashley by confirming the rumor, by saying that Ashley was just the only one shown to be warning him. (Again, who cares?! Ashley behaved badly about it and you will never know if it could have been something) It is insanity for Caila I imagine since she did in fact break it off. Ashley is correct that she will go through more to keep Jarod than anyone else would...but that does not equal that she loves him more nor does it equate to her being better suited to him than anyone else. Haha the phrase "no one loves you like I do" can take on horror film proportions. The pettiness of the drama over who loves who more is only underscored if it is based on Caila saying to Amanda that she didn't mind getting engaged to Jared and then breaking it off 3 months later. If that is the big unspeakable crime that made Ashley into a saint then Caila really is better off washing those people right out of her fabulous hair. I mean, come on. I would think everyone, everyone, who goes on this show understands that they must be both willing to give an engagement a shot as well as being prepared that the engagement could fail once they are back to reality. Such a comment, especially in this environment should be considered a mark of maturity. The engagement event for these couples marks the beginning of the period of time in which they get to know whether they are compatible in the real world. seriously, it's a conversation about whether you could handle getting engaged so soon, and whether you would just keep on going into a marriage no matter what or hope you could keep your eyes open enough to recognize whether it was working or not.
  6. Ahhh as you can see by the time stamps I can't seem to put these quotes in their chronological order. Anyhow, I'm sure there's a reason or two Jared hasn't cut Ashley out of his life after seeing the show: Firstly, perhaps he is only seeing this stuff just now.....and has had what, 24 hrs to digest it. Let's face it, he's already broken up with Caila and Ashley has apparently been spending all this time injecting him with her poison. He may be incapable of putting two and two together. He may no longer have the will to independant thought now that he has been successfully stupefied by the narcotic effect of listening to The world according to Ashley. This is including phone calls he accepted and spent time on....WHILE he was on dates with Caila! We have seen Ashley say, when asked, that her reasons were validated by events and conversations that took place off camera. ..... I seriously find it hard to believe that TPTB would leave any dramatic info such as that on the cutting room floor....
  7. Ok. I don't think Caila buys Ashley's story one little bit. I think she chose her questions to Ashley very wisely. Even though Asley approached Caila with a plan to slyly undermine her, Caila very calmly saw right through her and posed specific questions in order to confirm the realities of the situation. Information that she gained: 1. Ashley will always be an insincere saboteur who poisons any effort Jared makes towards a relationship with Caila. 2. Heartbreaking waste of time to come on the show, heartbreaking to think (against all rational reality and what you've been told by Jared) that you are a "home wrecker." 3. You don't yet know whether the circumstance and editing has ruined you on national television but, enough of this sickness. Ashley didn't get a rose and she was allowed to run back in and has achieved the goal of preventing you from becoming so closely attached to Jared that you are willing to put up with her for the rest of your natural born days. Whew. Bullet dodged. Josh: It sure felt like Josh would have been ok if anyone went up to the room and only claimed it when he saw that Nick was the one going. Josh seems to be one of those people who -in his own mind- transfers his negative attributes to others. Josh is the only one listing the negative things about himself. Seriously. Others have only advised Amanda to get to know Josh beyond the obvious romantic jibber jabber. This is what Izzy wanted with Vinny and what Grant is trying for with Lace. Granted, it is difficult if not impossible to become apprised of someone's character when you are already romantically/physically active. So, Josh is actually putting words in others mouths. He is so paranoid that he is listing all of the things he imagines others are saying and he goes on and on and on assuming and attributing the worst without bothering to listen to what is actually being said. With problems like his it must have been awful to have his "ex" write a book exposing it all. He is obviously super sensitive about it, and I can see how he would want to press to talk about it and be aggressive about addressing it to the group. It's all an effort to get it over with NOW. He wants everything NOW. Who told him that achieving the goal was more important than how you achieve it? Unfortunately he is perpetuating the problem by trying to start a lasting relationship by simply isolating himself and Amanda from the rest of the world. He also is showing that his need for being right supersedes his ability to be nice. He asks Nick to say something and then jumps on the first half of a sentence that Nick barely begins to say and turns it into a huge deal before finding out the rest of what Nick Was getting at. It must be inconceivable to him that anyone could have an idea that took more than six words to convey. Not only that, but Josh seems stuck on the idea that Nick is sour grapes over losing Amanda to him. Nick has repeatedly stated that it is not about his relationship with a girl he went on one date with. Josh talks over Nick. I really hate it when someone asks an accusatory question and then talks over you and accuses more when you try answer. Josh doesn't want to hear that Nick isn't interested in Amanda and that this isn't about bulls competing for mating time. He doesn't seem to have a clue about how many ways humans get to know each other. When asked, Nick admits it was irritating to have this guy who has issues with you over a previous perceived "competition" show up and grab whatever it is he thinks you have. Nick is hoping that Amanda and Josh have something real for their own sakes. Josh is so busy claiming himself to be the winner that he is unable to hear that. That Josh is satisfied once Amanda says she won't question him is deplorable. He should want her to question him. He should want her to go into this with eyes wide open. He should open his eyes too. They can't possibly think that they could make a commitment without spending time seeing how it works with her children. With her EX. I've got to stop.
  8. I don't have a perception of Caila being "too perfect" or fake. What I see is a girl who can have a good time but who is not over the top in her behavior or obnoxiously vocal about her thoughts. I was annoyed with her indecisiveness but I'm going to give her a pass. It is a situation that she has never had to make a choice about before. If anything it shows that she is probably a loyal person. She likes Jared, but she is in an environment where it is encouraged that you take opportunities to meet new people. She also said that part of the purpose of going and doing something with someone else was to see if she liked it or if her feelings for Jared were stronger. Most dates are also not to be missed great adventures. She obviously didn't really want to leave Jared, but also she doesn't like the Ashley situation. There's the added complication that Jarred's feelings might be hurt. Added on is the fact that the date is in an hour. On the Bachelor you would go on the date cuz there's only one guy. In this situation you are made to feel as though you are juggling boyfriends. Granted, the premise is to go find a mate within this pool of people.....
  9. Weighing in....... Evan/Amanda/Josh/Nick: As much as Evan did say he'd go for it to let Amanda know he was interested and as icky awkward it was to have to watch him interrupt a face sucking session, twice; I think: 1. If you are on a show designed for you to explore dating with various people then kudos for Evan for calling it on Josh for being a possessive hog of Amanda's time. That is the kind of bravery that can only be learned by being one of many bachelors competing for a bachelorette -constantly being interrupted by other guys makes it "normal" to do the same. 2. Evans stated motivation for the first interuption was a last ditch effort to talk with someone he knew he was interested in. Fair game. His stated motivation for the second interuption was that, since he felt his exit was imminent he wanted to make sure someone had reminded Amanda to come up for air and look at the big picture with Josh. While we see Nick mentioning how he can't believe Josh went after Amanda, I don't think he is pining for her. He may truly not be much attracted to any of the other girls. In addition he (and I) just can't help but feel as though Josh swooped in, picked whatever girl Nick was involved with, and has isolated the girl from being able to make more than minimal contact with any body other than him. The way it is edited makes the viewer want to make sure she is getting to know who he is because all we see is possessive animal lust coming from him. I laugh at Josh because he is so sure that these guys are trying to sabotage him and get the girl. a. No one is trying to sabotage you, Josh. But you jumping to and clinging on to that conclusion makes me wonder if that's the kind of thing that YOU do to others. b. They aren't trying to get the girl FROM you. To me their motivation is out of detached chivalry to make sure their fellow resort mate has an opportunity to see something other than the inside of her own eyelids. Regarding Carly and Evan: Carly seems to be the one who approached Evan in the first place. A few girls have mentioned he is more attractive than his editing. Maybe she's getting to know someone she wouldn't otherwise spend time with. Open mind is the catch word of the series, right? Evan gave Carly a rose because he saw something there. Carly gave Evan a rose....because he saw something there. Good for her whatever her motivation. She is giving it a chance. She is playing the game smart by keeping a guy around who is likely to keep her around. "It's a game" but realistically, These people are forced to make plays for each other to be able to stay around long enough to get to know each other, yet the romance part of it tends to prevent, or distract them from getting to know each other. Carly has stated that she is attracted to Evan, but she doesn't know what to do with his style of approaching women. I don't think he is creepy. He is just more of a thinker, more of a gentleman, more confident. So he doesn't jump on you as a way of showing interest. Hmm. Maybe a few years down the line the two of them will still have something interesting to talk about. They both say it like it is.....What's happening with Carly and Evan might actually enable the two of them to develop a friendship or romance that has a very strong foundation. As far as Caila goes, on Bens season she was the one who was always happy never perturbed or anxious - to the extent that Ben was concerned about what it would be like when she had other emotions. I think it's unfair to the twins to have them on together. They have each other to be comfortable with and break loose with each other. That need fulfilled, the guys don't really have a place to go with them.
  10. Ha ha, the group photo is arranged to make Chad look like the smallest guy. I don't want to feed the beast that keeps him on tv but I must say...... my theory as to why Chad was invited to BIP, TMTA, and TFR that there was a mixture of three or four things at play: 1. He is a fascinating character. He has a few qualities that are weirdly attractive. 2. Perhaps producers did feel he needed the benefit of any doubt/a second chance regarding the situation on Bachelorette. All the guys there were talking about him (with good reason we now see) and that can make for some "best defense is a good offense" behavior. 3. Lacking any definitive physical assault, and having watched Chad threaten people verbally, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Chad threatened production with a legal battle of some sort if he wasn't given a second chance.... Or 4. See 1, 2 and 3 and add in that production knew that BIP would put Chad in the position of laying his cards irretrievably on the table. This gives production the upper hand should there be the kind of accusations or legal battles that I believe Chad is fully capable of. I don't think Lace was enlisted to draw him out. She likes a challenge and provocative interaction. So does Chad. The difference is that Lace at her worst on both shows has ultimately seemed ashamed and apologized for herself. She is not scary or threatening to others. Chad at his worst behaved like an unapologetic tyrant who is not only scary, but who thrives on the feeling that he scares others.
  11. I think we could have such an announcement based on what we know from the first season of TWD:1. without having had any experience of re animating corpses....From what I remember, and I've watched season 1 more than twice, people who got bit developed an "illness" that was characterized by flu like symptoms. I'm guessing that the radio announcements in the preview exist in the time frame where several people in 6 states have been hospitalized due to severe and rapidly progressing flu symptoms. - and none have died or turned yet. 2. The above could happen as well as doctors, MEs or EMTS experiencing some deaths and re animations as people dying and reviving and behaving in a psychotic manner upon revival. (They are sick!) In the real world when a person who is in an accident or is sick is revived and behaves violently (ie: gets aggressive, try's to attack/bite people around them)they are restrained. A. Yeah, weird. The guy has no vitals but he's alive...(Maggie thought that of her mother) B. Restrained = unable to attack/bite = days or weeks animated dead in hospital bed while doctors ponder the problem. Plenty live sick people look like death and plenty risky hospital patients are restrained every day. 3. The same, except a few corpses have reanimated in coolers in morgues. Technically, a walker could be hanging out in a storage cooler for quite a while - without the scary decomposition we have become accustomed to - before being discovered. Once the drawer is opened it could bite a surprised medical examiner and escape the premises undetected. The ME is in disbelief, or is not believed and of course falls into fever and is deemed incoherent by self and others. 4. One or all of the above and as mentioned, TPTB are judiciously deciding which information the public needs to know. I am looking forward to Fear the Walking Dead as something to enjoy, pick apart or make fun of, even if it is just a little "near fear" to hold me over till Walktober.
  12. Coming in late, but had to read everything before posting! I agree with both idea 1 and 2. I also think it is very realistic that actual moral people such as Rick and Co would be appalled and ashamed at the details of what had happened to them and numbed by what they had had to do. As such they would be afraid and/or wary of being pre- judged and given a stigma by the people of Alexandria. Many survivors of assault don't tell the story because they are so humiliated by it. It's all so very soon and very raw. Michonne did not tell her story right away to anyone and they are all season 3 Michonne right now. (Except Michonne!) The Alexandrians know it's "horrifically bad" out there. Their version of horrific might not hold a candle to the actual horrors out there, but why share the details (open their hearts) with them when you have just arrived and have no way of knowing whether there isn't some cannibal/claimer/governor hiding behind a friendly facade?
  13. When I saw the experiment my first reaction was: "oh no, I won't get to read so and so's amazing opinion!" Followed by: "Thank goodness I won't get spoiled" I'm a literal person. If there's ANY context or opinion describing a tagged spoiler I pretty much know what the spoiler is and there was no point in tagging it in the first place! The thread topic under which it's posted is the only context I want to see regarding what a spoiler is about. I like this format : Just one thread for episodes. *Have the yellow alert post at the top of each page reminding us to tag spoilers or comics references and please don't indicate what the spoiler is about. Think of the thread title as context and put your description or opinion based on the spoiler inside the spoiler tags. If that's not possible, then the post belongs in the comic book talk or spoiler thread.* One thread for random comics talk It is a challenge to literary ability to be spoiled and not let it show. If you must state an opinion and want to justify it with something spoiler tagged Hey, that's kind of a spoiler even if it ends up being wrong. Some sites ask those who are comics savvy to stay away from unspoiled threads because the opinions stated are obviously "in the know." If people really cannot conduct themselves using tags in unspoiled threads then change it to no spoilers whatsoever not even in tags. It really depends on the community of posters as to whether it works. Are we Rick's gang, are we terminites, or are we claimers? Let's just not be Lori!
  14. This is exactly what makes Gareth a creepy psychopath. He learns the names of his cattle. Most farmers do not give names to animals raised for slaughter. Of course we could say he's giving them a little respect by learning who they are before using them; I just think it's an interesting choice made by the writers. That Maggie and Glenn were appalled at the brutal executions shows they are still human. When Gareth and co killed it was Business as usual. Caring people will always be appalled by executions no matter how necessary they are. My thoughts as to why Tara volunteered to go with Abraham et all: Tara made the choice to go with Abraham back when they first left the prison. She did it to protect herself and a passed out Glenn. They would have likely died at that point without Abraham. She also took notes as to how to get Glenn back to where they started once he woke up. She was dedicated to Glenn and his mission. She also saw validity in Abrahams mission at the time, so did Glenn, but first things first, they needed to find Maggie. Abraham ended up following only because the truck broke down. (Which wouldn't have happened if they hadn't stopped when Glenn woke up)At that point, Glenn, Maggie and Tara unwillingly owe Abraham. So Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene walk for days with Glenn and Tara. They all save each other and talk. They get captured they get busted out. I can readily believe that the whole group sees promise in the mission. I feel Tara volunteered because she knew she was the only one inbetween both groups. She had less to give up in order to stall Abraham and help Glenn's group. Also, she owes Abraham. Abraham requests Glenn and Maggie as well. He knows Glenn and Maggie have an extra interest in helping out being as Glenn and Tara were in fact rescued and reunited with Maggie solely because Abraham stopped his truck in the first place. I also think that the group splitting now is different than the group splitting the moment they escape terminus. At the moment of escape they really needed to stabilize and get away from terminus. Once the terminites were in the past, I can see the group being willing to allow for some members to go on a mission and take the vehicle. They could be encouraged that since they were able to reunite before they can reunite again. I think Beth will be assisting/carrying Carol.
  15. Judith. OMGoodness! Kinda significant for our large exiled group that has nonetheless dominated over other groups: Random stuff found googling: "From St. Jude Thaddeus, nephew of Mary and Joseph, brother of St. James the Lesser. Annointed Christ's body after his death. Patron saint of lost or impossible causes, hospitals and hospital wokers and forgotten causes. Name means sweetness or gentleness of character." "The name Jude comes from the Hebrew Yehudah (Judah), which means "praised" (this is covered in the entry on Judah). It was the largest tribe of Israel, and became the ruling tribe. The word Jew comes from the Hebrew Yehudi, which means Judahite. The term was first used to describe the exiled Hebrews in Babylon collectively, as most of them were descendents of the tribe of Judah (with some Benjamites and Levites mixed in). The other ten tribes (most of Benjamin and his nine brothers) made up the northern kingdom of Israel after it divided between Jeroboam and Rehoboam. They have never returned to Israel. So "Jew" actually refers to the descendents of Judah. Judah was a very common name in Israel, as it was the name of one of the only intact tribes, and the tribe of kings. Another term to describe Jews would be "Judeans," or residents of the tribal territory of Judah (Judea in the NT)."
