  1. Damn, I was really hoping The Mitchells vs the Machines would ride that Annie win to a victory here. I liked Encanto, though, so I'm not too disappointed.
  2. I'm a fan of him, but not of that short. I thought there were better choices (Please Hold and Ala Kachuu in particular) in that category. Either way it sucks that category won't be given out on the main broadcast.
  3. I don't live in NYC and I'm generally not a fan of musicals but I usually enjoy these sketches that Mulaney and company do when he hosts the show. I will say that even though I don't live in NYC that I do feel pop culture is so NYC focused that if you're a pop culture fan you should be able to recognize most of the references. Anyway, this was another fun episode with Mulaney as host, I think my favorite was the slime sketch, but I'm not sure there wasn't anything I didn't enjoy. Conan's cameo (and his little drunk gesture after his flub) was great and it was nice seeing Paul Rudd get his due as a Five Timer. I do hope he gets to host again soon. The Ukrainian singers was a lovely touch to start the show and Rudd's interaction with them during the good nights was wonderful to see. When was the last time WU involved just the two anchors?
  4. Another music death today as Gary Brooker of Procol Harum has died at 76. https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-60485697
  5. Lucy, the player from William & Mary, is the daughter of one of my sister's best friends so I was obviously cheering for her and was happy that she acquitted herself well, even if she didn't win. I'm all Team Raymond now, though, as a product of a non Power Five state university. An interesting note on Kristin, who lost on the tie breaker in the final semi final, her twin sister will be appearing on the regular Jeopardy next month.
  6. Does Kyle Whittingham think those three timeouts he still had at the end of the game will carry over to next season?
  7. The target audience for West Side Story isn't really going to see movies now and the vast majority of them couldn't identify who Ansel Elgort was even if he was standing in front of them holding an "I'm Ansel Elgort" sign.
  8. The player that seems to be mentioned most as the top prospect is Kayvon Thibodeaux, an edge rusher from Oregon. It's not a strong quarterback draft, although I'm sure at least one will get pushed up into the top half of the first round. Assuming it does turn out to be what we all expect (Alabama vs Cincinnati, Michigan vs Georgia) here's hoping Cincinnati and/or Michigan can pull off a victory in the semifinals to prevent us from having a rematch that no one outside the SEC headquarters wants to see.
  9. You can't help but watch these episodes wondering why those involved with the Goldbergs (especially Beverly and Adam) bother to stick around. It's weird to see an episode without Geoff considering he's probably gotten more screen time this season than everyone but Beverly and Adam. I did laugh at the way Barry's voice changed when he did his Adam impersonation.
  10. I had the same thought, so if you are reading too much into it you're not alone.
  11. More Eddie and Sophie, less of everything else, except Ryan Hansen. I'm not convinced the baby isn't Gary's.
  12. Adam was such an asshole in this episode I would have actually cheered if one of the football players had stuffed him in a locker. Do the Goldbergs actually have three houses now? That furniture store must be doing some killer business. That Wonder Years bit at the end was great, though.
  13. Hmm, I feel almost the opposite. I think New Orleans was very much tied into Pride and revolved around him in a way that the others weren't around their leads. I think that's at least part of the reason the show never became quite as popular as the other two. Anyway, I think McGee was on the trip to Alaska to make sure that it was his character there at the end with Gibbs, which given their relationship makes sense. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him as team leader. I'm curious to see how they integrate Parker into the fold. I don't see him becoming an NCIS agent (he's too old among other things), so maybe we'll find out that he wasn't completely fired from the FBI and he becomes a liaison ala the way Deeks' character on NCIS:LA used to be?
  14. Did anyone else watch this? Every once in a while I'll stumble upon these Australian shows with teenagers usually set around water and I just eat them up. This one was no exception. Given the way the finale ended, I guess they were pretty confident in getting a second season. I'll watch if they do.

    MLB Thread

It's usually on a Sunday around July 20th. That it's on a random Wednesday afternoon in September is peak MLB.
  16. Did Ryan Murphy kidnap Ridley Scott and the rest of the people involved didn't notice?
  17. My takeaways from the Woodstock 99 documentary. The promoters' delusions about their culpability in what happened is pretty mind boggling, and watching the one guy try to blame the naked women for being assaulted is infuriating and absurd. I enjoyed the overall rundown of the festival so to speak, but the so called profound comments about why it happened and what it means mostly just made me roll my eyes. Lastly, and this can not be said enough, Moby, please shut the fuck up.
  18. After having Ziva Jr. leave I just hope the writers don't try and turn her into Ziva III.
  19. I liked both episodes, really enjoyed the way they showcased the differences of the over the top (including the accents) sitcom compared to Allison's not so fun reality. I think the acting was very good across the board with Annie Murphy proving to be a charismatic and winning lead. I do like the premise and I am intrigued by it. I do have real questions, though, if there's enough there to make a whole season (and, if all goes well, presumably more)?
  20. Wolfwalkers is on Apple TV+ which I believe offers a free seven-day trial. Hopkins' win reminds me of Olivia Colman's win over Glenn Close a couple years back in that many were pretty stunned when in happened, but in retrospect it's probably not at all shocking.
  21. I know Twitter and what not is going to get really pissed, which is a shame because Hopkins was fucking amazing and deserved this award. Maybe not more than Bosman, but he deserved it.
