  1. I too was shocked that TT did not know about #metoo but... and correct me if I'm wrong--- wasn't there a veteran named Heather that couldn't answer one question during panel interviews this year (including what does FBI stand for) and yet she made it back?? I've seen the most ignorant and vapid candidates make it into TC. Yet they beat the hell out of the "50 yards" girl. They're pretty inconsistent and hypocritical. Sane thing with kicks. The young NJ "beee- YOU--ti-ful " girl didn't kick above her waist in try-out;s but-- no matter- And I can't help thinking about the vet who came to panel interviews wearing a dress with some cut-out's at the waist and was ripped apart and dumped--yet the calendar and the little "fashion show" in Mexico that year was approaching soft porn. Don't get me wrong I like the calendars but they need to make up their mind about being demure young women one min and sex-pots the next when it works for them. Wasn't the calendar shot at Bimini at the beach? Most of the featured/ covers had no back drop or looked like the ones with the fake drops they did at the studio. The girls looked good but the shots looked like catalog shots. Disappointed overall.
  2. This has bugged me for a long time. What is up with Judy always having to sit on that "this isn't your office-you're not my equal " stool? Now that they are in the new place I'm surprised they even have those cheesy stools there at all, but apparently they're a necessity for the statement Kelly needs to make. And Kelly's "office" looks like a total afterthought. No respect for her either- to be fair.

That's quite a definitive statement. I am curious how you know that for sure. I don't think birth control pills are quite the same as a med used in treatment. It's only a guess but I could see birth control pills allowed on a show of a finite time limit like survivor or N&A..but not for an undefined time limit like this. My guess is also that meds for cholesterol or Blood pressure may not be permitted either, but I dont know for sure. At this point they may make certain concessions for the sake of the show. Esp. with returning contestants where their pool of participants is limited. I can only assume that all participants must be cleared by their own doctor as well as a production doc. And I'm sure they sign away alot of rights to hold production liable to just about anything, considering the tremendous risks of bear attacks, snake bites, etc.etc etc. People who face physical challenges often go above and beyond--even to extremes-- to defy what others may see as a limitation. I don't blame them! Apparently flare-ups are part of MS but are not predictable, and not life threatening per se. There is the tap-out option. This challenge is not for everyone..MS or not, so I don't see the correlation here. We all have different ideas about what it means to "live"

That was Jerri Manthey in Australia! I remember so much about the early seasons..not so much lately. I thnk it was more interesting then!! But a crunchy flour tortilla would be a nice change of pace out here.

I wouldn't put much past the production when I consider how they edit, telegraph tap-out's, and twist reality etc. But my guess is it's a matter of pride as in (Brad) "I haven't had anything to eat in a week" (except for the 2 pounds of trail mix I've been wolfing down and now I'm out of it... so...)"

This came up in the "making the cut" ep I believe. I certainly asked about it as it seemed a strange choice. But a few shared that you an make a form of flour and water dumpling or noodle, and bannock. Now of course I wonder why Sam did not throw some noodles in his 'gravy or his onions. Sam does not strike me as a creative foodie/cook so I still wonder why he brought it. In fact, as someone else pointed out somewhere..they never mention their rations. It is no secret..we know you have them!!

I wonder if Nicole's refreshing bath into 45 degree water was a stresser that brought on her symptoms. Add that to the other stresses of less food, herbs and heavy work etc.

I agree totally. However you can see what's going on there with what Ghoulina said about the scorekeeping. Shane's mentality is "I caught the fish so someone else needs to clean it". He's standing right there... take 5 minutes to clean the fish. Should someone have showed some honor and appreciation by cleaning it? sure. But Shane insisting and demanding that it's someone else's turn to pitch in now since he made the 'big kill' is annoying. It's gone down the rabbit hole with these people.

For me it's *that* idea that frustrates me with the editing of the show. I think they believe the bushcraft is boring, but I love the shelter building and entire reasoning process in building of their camps and their food-getting ideas. Esp. since they may have learned things from the past..either mistakes or better ideas. They are out to make the best show---in *their* opinion. I've often thought the editors don't like bushcraft at all! I happen to like Larry but his shtick was better the first time around. ( I do hope it's different this time.) I guess my point is I think they are trying to now 'direct' what they think is a good reality show and it's always authenticity that does that in the end. They can't control that..it ruins it. (Remember the "wolf attack" on the beach that was shown every episode??? ) Honestly although I looked forward to the returnee group, I realize I like most of them. In the past it helped to have a few that annoyed me --mike and the goddess Barbara and the Dave that badmouthed everyone else's bush techniques and the woman (Britt was it?) who got naked alot and played up her dumb spider bite etc... So far the show is boring. I'm not looking to Larry's cursing tantrums or Britts quips to carry the day. I hope that's not what they are banking on either-- or a tap-out each week to provide their idea of drama and interest.

I don't understand the whole "thank you!!" mentality anyway. In a football team everyone celebrates the touchdown and I can't imagine anyone waiting for a special thank you--or any team member saying one. Gary has never hunted and from day one has blabbed incessantly about his superior survival philosophy to cover his insecurity about it. I don't doubt that he stirs the homesteading pot and Shane's victim mentality soaks it up. They admit they are not hunters--but gatherers. I don't know where the superior hunter attitude is coming from , but Matt walking around adorned in animal hides doesn't help. I can't help but think if Jake the horse trainer was there instead of Matt the dynamic would be different. Don't get me wrong--Gary and Shane are whiners-- But I think the communication would be different and I think he would make a bigger effort to quell the passive-aggressive undercurrent. Matt is very much a lone wolf. Not really a criticism but just not a big "team" guy and communicater and that would help.

Much of the fun of the show and the forum IS the speculating..because it's a contest with a winner. And I'm pretty sure that's the point of the teasers and spoilers that the show puts out there. I hate them but they are part of the production as 'coming attractions"

    S05.E02 The Haunting

In fairness to Dave they do a little background films on all the contestants so pretty sure the show did it. Have to say I thought his little double-decker arrangement with the bed elevated in the back of his truck was clever. i admit I have a bit of gypsy soul myself ;) I would have liked to see those who tapped for injuries but I'm thinking that they may have had trouble just getting these 10. I don't think Randy belongs here. And Brad was the cute young eye candy if they did have a choice of contestants. And although I looked forward to this season, I admit I'm bored so far--partly because we know their history of resolve and the crappy editing once again. . And if they use THREE EPISODES just for introductions it doesn't bode well for the season. They spoil the hell out of this show,,there's no avoiding it. I hope they don't spoil every tap-out. I sure hope things pick up.. **Also thanks to those who gave me the info on the multi-tools.
  14. I'm with you on this. It would help if Carole would just admit that it's a difficult/sad time to lose someone who was a big part of your life and companionship, regardless. But it was obvious --to everyone else at least-- what she was setting herself up for when she fell all over him--a guy 20 years her junior-- at LuAnnes. She had a NY apartment, was on a TV show, connections... Pffft.. did she really ever think those things weren't a large part of her 'allure'?? She knew it would end this way. THAT''S why it's a baaaadd idea. Especially if she would like to meet someone for real. She wasted her time in that respect. When you fall all over a guy they tend to feel like they're doing you a favor and don't really owe you anything. It was an open invitation to be used. I don't think she exactly 'got played' I think he did like her for sure. But she was primarily a rung in the ladder, and her ego got a lot of mileage out of him too. They're even.
  15. This may have been covered somewhere before, but Bethenny's eyes look much different than in the early years. I think she had them done. In the past her eyes looked very bulge-y and the outside corners turned down. Not judging--I'd get all sorts of stuff done if I had the $$.

Pffft.. I watched it too..I'll admit it. some till I fell asleep and some this morning. FF'd thru alot --it is cringeworthy and just ridiculous. ("from the moment you walked out on stage (30 min ago) blah blah. It is a little jaw dropping right? ("Dad do I have your blessing?? ) Crazy And Jesse Palmer.. He did okay but WAS the dumbest bach overall. Okay I forgot Juan Pablo.. oh yeah Ben Flapjack picking what's her name and Oh yeah..Jake choosing Vienna....

    S05.E01 Redemption

A multi tool was one of the options. Sam took one--assume it was valuable to him because it appeared to have a pair of pliers--I would think needed for trapping wire. Maybe it has a wire cutter...? Other than that I don't know what value they would have to the others. I can only recall the old Swiss Army knives that had ..I don't know.. a corkscrew, a little scissors, maybe a little file, a knife.. So for the others I don't know if it would be worth it for pliers.. Maybe someone can fill me in on what they typically have that would otherwise make it worth the choice.? I think if I were Carleigh..and first day or two facing permanent tap-out ( I highly doubt they will do returnees anytime soon if at all) I think I may have tried an incision. Slowly..bit by bit. Maybe it sounds extreme but worth a try. not sure quite how deep it is.. see what you can do.. You can always tap. Boil some water to clean it..maybe alcohol is in the first aid kit... IF it gets infected and they won't treat it during med-check, then out you go. In the end, that's how the doctor got it out.

Darn.. didn't realize they confirmed a tap out. was hoping that they could let her stay if she could be treated there, Like N&A does now.

    S05.E01 Redemption

Totally agree! I usually FF thru previews in the beginning of the show because of this. But sometimes it cannot be avoided if they show it in a commercial, etc. Is it possible they let her stay? The fact that they blll-boarded this event so much alluding to a tap-out may signal a surprise here, Not saying I would necessarily agree with that decision although I truly want to see Carleigh stay, but they may have slightly changed the rules this time. Shouldn't Sam be putting out his snares and traps IMMEDIATELY? He may have, but no mention of it. Gotta eat Sam..you can chase snakes after your traps are set.

I think Jordan's little prediction that David and people like him who pick on Jordan will get 'theirs'... was filmed after the fall. Don't think Jordan has any super-powers of revenge.

Attacks on Lacey as a Mom is making me uncomfortable. I'm no fan for sure but I think it's going below the belt. I'm not a parent but I guess many are..and I"m pretty sure it would kill to hear people attacking your parenting esp from just this glimpse.

    S14.E03: Week 3

That new show!! Gawd just the commercials alone are a whole new level of second-hand embarrassment. This season is a bit dull but I thought the many others were dull too. For me there aren't many guys I'm excited about and that makes a huge diff to me. Jojo 's season was boring-you could see from day one who the winner was-- and it was the Chad show. It was painful.. Nick was a total snooze himself--we had the Corrinne show there but I grew to like her. And please, not the Kaitlyn shit-show... Didn't they finally have to put her in a hotel miles away to keep her from sleeping with what;s his face every night and completely blowing things up? Oh yeah she apparently slept with NIck. I'd sleep with Nick too..;like a stone if I was next to that potted plant. I'll take the boring over lots of manufactured drama. I'll take Jordan over Chad for the laughs. The best dramas have been the authentic ones.. Several where the girl has it big for the guy and he just up and leaves. or Deanna/ Graham where he obviously had nothing for her. the Jake and Vienna breakup (oh so good) To name a few. They are real and often sad... but...good tv.

    S05.E00 Making the Cut

I love this. The " learned how to love an ordinary life" as his greatest reward. So well put. Huge--life changing. And I agree he likely won't need to take it to the limit this time. His playful imitation of Nicole illuminates how attitude is the cornerstone of our experience. Obviously Larry recognizes that while Nicole was singing "the hills are alive" Larry was banging his head against a tree. He gets the joke and I think gets the point. I hope he has fun this time. . I forgot about this. It would sound/look more legit if he was in an RV. But I get it to some degree. For some it's 2 days off and over half your income for basic housing expenses. I know for many it's not a choice due to mental illness, addiction, job loss etc but I know there are some that see four walls as a prison of isolation. But I don't think Dave will get the revelation that Larry did. He says he's glad they pulled him but I think he would have gladly died out there. I know what you mean. In the past just about everyone chose a tarp as one of their 10--and now--nobody chose it?? I wish they would show what they are given as basics (outside the 10) -and the list of items from which they could choose.. Like last season--Brooke opted for soap. I would like to know what all their choices were. It would clarify a lot. I guess if everyone shows up with a large tarp we'll know then. This show is a little bit sneaky at times. Just like on N & A now, they get 3 items. It's possible they are getting a little more afforded than in the past and they aren't talking about it.
