  1. Bradley Cooper went to Gaga's show last night. She called him up and they did Shallow. (Yeah, I cried towards the end of this.)
  2. Bobbie not being there with Laura is definitely an omission, but for me the biggest and most glaring absence from the tale of Lulu's peril is Olivia. There's no way in hell that Olivia wouldn't be there for her son's wife, her daughter-in-law. We could have had some decent female bonding with Laura and Olivia, even some pretty cool awkwardness as Olivia notes that she knows just how Laura feels as she directs a piercing glance at Sonny. ("You just shot your own son!") But nope. Just Laura with Sonny, which is crazy stupid wrong.
  3. Jake actor is one of the grandkids on Grace and Frankie.
  4. B99 and Superstore would have been the better pair. But then I wasn't feeling the W&G reboot and bowed out. And shows like Titan Games are just not my thing. I was looking forward to the return of Superstore after The Good Place season finale; I miss it!
  5. The Gardner's Delight Tomato was purchased at Food and Stuff! This makes me happy well beyond reason! (I need a life.) I love this show.
  6. I've been enjoying JL quite a bit; he's been great. Now that the election stuff is out of the way, here's hoping that Laura get some agency since this is her story too. So I had to look at WL - he's pretty good. This one just sitting on a pier, seems to be all natural with no retouches and perhaps recorded on a phone, is kind of nice. He's got that teen pop singer thing going on with his voice.
  7. Maybe I'm just not feeling it this year. I hated episode 3. All I could think for more than half of the show was for Zoe to bring her own %$@# charger. Luca is no longer just a laid back guy; he seems sedated. Zoe is starting to feel like a parody. I keep expecting her to squeal and say OMG! a lot. Nope. Not feeling it.
  8. Nice to see a Hugh Grant mention for Paddington 2. I loved his performance; he makes a delightful villain. I didn't expect wins for A Quiet Place but I did hope for nominations. I'm disappointed.
  9. August 4. I share with Barack Obama, Louis Armstrong, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Raoul Wallenberg, the late Queen Mother, and - as I found out this year - new royal person Meghan Markle. Alas, I most definitely have not lived up to any expectations that may or may not accompany this date. Topic: Happy Birthday, Kin!
  10. This movie had everything in it but the kitchen sink... and I loved it. First, yes, Kurt Russell. Then great cameos, kickass elves that seemed equal parts Ewoks AND Gremlins, a cheesy but oh so fun musical performance, gorgeous reindeer, and even a shout out to the full moon flight ET sequence. And they saved the best cameo for last. I was able to handle it and I was wary for similar reasons. Last year I lost both my Mom and Step-Dad, and no, I am still not okay. But for some reason this movie made me feel a bit better for a little while. It's just lots of silly fun and the missing Dad parts were not too heavy-handed.
  11. There's been nothing that I've seen regarding a or b. As for c, I think for once GH actually went too subtle. Ryan, all enamored with Felicia, approached her at The Floating Rib in completely smitten mode. But by the end of the conversation (and Lindstrom did a great job with the transition using only facial expressions) Ryan had fallen out of love / obsession. Felicia spoke of herself as a grandmother, talked about how much she loved her life of family and domestic bliss. The more she talked about how happy she was and that her adventure seeking days were behind her, the more Ryan's face began to harden. Felicia was now nothing but a disappointment, a fallen idol. Story wise, I think if he hadn't already met Ava and been drawn to her, we might have had a Felicia as a murder victim. BTS, perhaps HE's exit changed the direction. At the time, I did think they were using that scene to set that in motion and then the story changed course. And I'm hoping the course stays changed. Even though we hardly see her, I would be sad if they killed off Felicia. Sentimental reasons, I guess.
  12. There will never be enough words to express how much I love this video.
  13. I can't begin to tell you how much, back in the day, I overused lines* from The Princess Bride. When a friend or loved one was leaving to face a difficult or awkward situation, my send off was sometimes: "Have fun storming the castle!" When confronting the obtuse or confused: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." Or: "Do you always begin conversations this way?" Back then, and again in present day, I have said this a few times: "I'll use small words so that you'll be sure to understand, you warthog faced buffoon." Aw, hell. I'll just link to the Princess Bride IMDB quote page. I've been reading for a bit, and I'm laughing and getting misty at the same time. Goldman could do that. I hope he's somewhere in a land of tall cliffs and fair seas, about to happily have fun storming the castle. *I think I was likely hella annoying for an entire year after I read the book, and then again when the movie came out.
  14. William Goldman, Oscar-Winning Writer of ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,’ Dies at 87 And All The President's Men. And Marathon Man. And The Princess Bride. And … more. R.I.P. to one of the mighty kings of words. https://variety.com/2018/film/news/william-goldman-dead-dies-butch-cassidy-and-the-sundance-kid-1203030474/
  15. That was my favorite line of the night! After the twisting timeline explanation and Chidi's declaration of a broken brain, it was such a wonderful punctuation of the scene when Janet planted her finger on the board and happily proclaimed the "location" of her birthday. And her delivery was perfection. I love this show.
  16. I was crying before I was even halfway through the trailer. I am so seeing this. Great casting job, it would seem, with Blunt.
  17. I like this. Anna finding out that all of her memories aren't really her own could make for some interesting story. It even has an old school WSB feel to it, when back in the day the more outlandish, the better. But unlikely to happen, I guess. I do wish they'd get back to the fact that Margeaux has the flash drive with Drew's memories and have it be part of an actual story. The pacing is worse than usual on this particular arc.
  18. I liked him in Starting Over with Jill Clayburgh and Candice Bergen; I think that was his best movie. Next for me might be The Longest Yard or The End. RIP Mr. Reynolds.
  19. I used to like them together, but I haven't been feeling them for at least the past 2 - 3 years. Those scenes happen so seldom now, maybe that's why. Also, I think LA is just kind of meh, so there's that. And Molly has joined the Who? club.
  20. Well, this has been a sad weekend. Ninety-one is a pretty good run, but … damn.
  21. I see your point and To All The Boys I've Loved Before even had a small meta moment from that perspective - "Hello! Jake Ryan!" I've watched four Netflix Rom Coms this summer (don't judge) and there's one I've yet to see mentioned: Candy Jar. I think after Boys, I liked this one the most. Then Set It Up and last, The Kissing Booth. I'm liking this Netflix trend, releasing original romantic comedies, and I hope they keep it up. I'm a total sucker for the genre.
  22. When I read her name I immediately thought of A Thousand Clowns. Loved her and Jason Robards in that movie. RIP Ms. Harris. I'm still smh on this one. I just don't get it.
  23. Robert: So, did you get a good night's sleep? LWB/FS: You know I didn't. The WSB kept me up all night putting highlights in my hair. Robert: . . . Today's episode was just weird. The only reason I can think of that Margo DA is keeping the flash drive a secret is that at some point she's going to try and bargain Drew's memories for a laundry list of Jason's. How that would work, I'm not sure since Drew doesn't care. He's never seemed to care. Think of all the info he could get about his past from a high school reunion. Or it could make a good launching point to start digging. But nope. Lauren's dress was downright demure. That whole be yourself and change clothes was just a few wasted scenes.
