  1. Looks like she's off the market! http://www.people.com/article/witney-carson-engaged-to-high-school-sweetheart
  2. There's this website that tracks the 18-49 demo, and the show did really well for about six years. Then suddenly there were big drops for S13, 14, and All-Stars, which led to them ending the Result shows. It's been largely steady since then, but it only had a 2.3 for last season's finale, way down from 3.0 last fall (power of Alfonso?) and their lowest finale rating yet. http://www.spottedratings.com/2010/07/war-of-18-49-dancing-with-stars.html
  3. It's totally not fair. I'm looking at it through the POV of the lawyers/producers who would find the situation more manageable if Kim had been in LA when she had the stroke. She would have recovered, done the rehearsal on the DWTS stage, shown it to the judges, and then Kim could have been there in person to get feedback and go chat with Erin. Her being in Atlanta and not being cleared to fly made a slightly tricky situation much more complex.
  4. I think a big reason why ABC played up the 10th anniversary last season is because they're guessing they're won't be a 20th, so they might as well go all-out now. Around 2020, I wouldn't be surprised if they drop to once a year.
  5. After Derek's totally unprecedented 4th and 5th wins, three winless pros won. I wouldn't be surprised if the producers feel that it doesn't look good for the show if a large number of pros never win. "No more repeat winners". So if Sharna wins this year, then it's Emma next year, then Lindsay, then Artem, then Allison (ugh).
  6. The big problem here is that Kim was not in LA. If she had never flew home after the Tuesday show, and even if the stroke still happened, they probably would had let her stay in. If she was still in LA she could have appeared in person and just done a double elimination next week. I think the lawyers and/or producers figured that since she can't fly as of now, and since she's so far away in Atlanta, they figured she just wasn't worth the hassle.
  7. Yes, it's a win-win for Kim - she gets to play the victim card without doing any more work. This is working out quite well for her.
  8. Rycroft was at the LA ballroom though, dancing on the same stage as everyone else.
  9. The theme from MAUDE would have been perfect for Tamar.
  10. That 1.8 is their lowest demo for a week 2. Not good.
  11. 7 lady pros + 3 troupe = 10 6 guy pros + 2 troupe + Artem = 9 They're still one guy short.
  12. When do the live streams start? By this time last season it felt like we already had a few.
  13. I never saw that season, but it seems like she and Victor made it pretty far, far enough to the team dance in week 6. She couldn't have been that bad as a teacher.
  14. It's gonna be EPIC. I saw him on Celebrity Apprentice, and this guy knows how to bring the crazy.
  15. Feel really bad for Peta, especially since Andy requested her. On the other hand, I hope he embraces Lindsay and doesn't disconnect from her. She's his partner now.
  16. Did she re-injure herself during rehearsals with Andy, or did they not actually start working yet, and are deciding whether she can work to begin with?
  17. Maybe Tony has Paula and Artem has Kim? Didn't Louis leave after All-Stars? Unless they have thirteen couples I don't see him randomly coming back.
  18. It feels like the stars who were on were "people who used to be famous". Nowadays, they cast people who do this show to become famous. My criteria is: if they don't have a Wikipedia profile, they're not really a star. Nash doesn't have one, and I don't think Bethany, Sadie and Noah did either when they were cast.
  19. But, but... I thought Whoopi was THE CAPTAIN OF THE SHIP
  20. Poor Emma. Maybe if she weren't so exceedingly patient she'd get contenders. And unlike Willow, this kid isn't part of a movie franchise.
  21. Ironically, Derek and Val are friends. They go back years. Derek mentioned it in his book last year. That's not good enough for some of their fans though. They want the pros to be at loggerheads, at each other's throats. They don't see the pros as people, in a way - they seem them as TV characters whom they want to live vicariously through. Everyone being friends isn't exciting for them; they want feuds, like The Real Housewives. A certain website out there perpetuates this myth.
  22. Maybe the Whoopster will be less cranky since this is her last year. I think losing Joan Rivers, Mike Nichols, and Robin Williams hit her hard. There was also a lot of BTS chaos last year, and weren't there reports that Rosie drove her crazy with her perfectionist ways? I think Whoop can relax if the producers display stability. Joy being back should help, since everything fell apart after she left.
  23. I think Whoop has too much admiration and respect for Joy to undermine her. They worked together for years, which wasn't the case with Rosie.
  24. Why do they need all these contributors if there are six hosts now? Will they get a bigger table to accommodate everybody?
  25. Arguably, Derek is somewhat misunderstood. He talks a lot in the skybox (whereas Mark is more quiet), always seems peppy and "on", and when you factor in all those wins (and the overall media attention he gets) people will think he's a narcissist who is too self-involved. I think Derek is a nice guy, someone I would like to hang out with. I wish he was with a comedienne older than him, someone who could bring out a less scripted or PC side of him. On the other hand, Val comes of too intense at times, as if it's a life-or-death battle for him. This isn't DanceSport or Blackpool - it's a TV show filmed on a Hollywood soundstage. I almost want to say to him "Dude, as long as the check clears, don't sweat the small stuff". I get that's he's passionate about his craft, but he should tone that down a bit.
