  1. Yes, it's cost and availability. I was in chemo in 2013 and 2014, and it was offered to me. I opted not to because it was several thousand dollars, and is extremely uncomfortable physically, and doesn't guarantee you'll preserve your hair. My shortest infusion was three hours. I did twelve weeks where they took ten hours each. Having an ice cold thing encasing my head for that long sounded like hell, especially since there's no guarantee it will actually work. It was available at Stanford if I wanted it, but not at the other infusion center I used for 20 weeks.

  4. So totally agree. I've only seen the fried chicken one, but am looking forward to the rest. I was worried that it was going to end up unevenly making one of them the butt of the joke, but that's not happening at all. I loved how Martha reminded everyone that she has done jail time since there is a segment of her audience that will default to criminal stereotypes of Snoop and his friends. I think that was really well played.
  5. I think we have. I think it's Arnold interviewing Dolores in the basement.
  6. A friend pointed out that Arnold Weber is an anagram of Bernard Lowe, which I cannot imagine is an accident. I think Arnold wore more old timey-ish clothes, kind of like Ford and his pocket watch, but I haven't rewatched to confirm it. On Felix and Sylvester - one or the other might be a host. I could actually see Felix as a host and despite all of their high end programming neither he nor Maeve would have true human medical knowledge, and wouldn't know that a human cut to the jugular couldn't be fixed by being cauterized. A host can survive with bullet holes (we saw that with the guy leaking milk from his gut), and it would be good design for them to be self healing or to allow temporary reroutes around major injuries so they get back out in the field faster. I can also buy Felix as a human who gets sucked into the ethical quandary that the show is laying out as a whole - do the hosts feel real pain and deserve better than torture? Or is their emotional and physical pain temporary enough that it doesn't matter to us ethically because they were born in a vat?

The point of the thing with the King is it is his way of showing potency and power, without allowing there to be a bunch of little bastards running around. It's a purely political act, not a pleasurable one as far as he's concerned.
  8. I think they're doing a hamhanded job with Chris (well, with everybody) but I think what they're going for is that he's having a PTSD response to the situation and he's a terrible communicator because he's 15, but he's not psycho. His dad kills his mom. He kills the zombies at the fence. He does the mercy killing in the plane. He regrets not shooting the pirates before they boarded and feels intensely guilty about that, and then the pirate dude bullies Chris into killing him too, and Chris thinks for about 30 seconds that he's done the right thing and then it gets worse for him. I can totally buy him freezing when Madison's being attacked, he's been grinding his gears for a while. And I can totally buy him being frustrated while trying to communicate with Alicia but she doesn't want to hear it. And then she's biased when she goes to Madison about the threat. So Madison is super biased when she goes to Travis. He went to the bedroom wanting to talk it out with Alicia, she didn't wake up and he gets distracted by the shiny knife that Madison isn't supposed to have. He's not crazy, it's all circumstantial and will blow up and be resolved in a family moment of understanding, probably mediated by Nick and Ofelia.
  9. You are inspiring me to want to rewatch the first season. Even though the setup for Peter's appeal took so long, I forgot how early a lot other stuff happened. And now I can't say more because spoilers.
  10. The bracelets are boar tusks, I think "tushes" is the word from the books. We do find out who they were from later on, it's not a big reveal, but it's sweet. Same with the pearls - they were a gift from another admirer.
