  1. Is that what he said his work involved? I couldn't understand what he was saying. I did hear she was in "healthcare?" I wonder if anyone can speculate what their monthly mortgage payment would be considering they put ZERO down??
  2. Myrla said she specifically made that request on her application. Maybe theoretically they made a big deal of "matching" the right person with another; however, in reality I don't think they had that many candidates to choose from so they matched the couples with who was available. BTW: I deleted the entire season from my DVR because after reading the bios of the participants I didn't think any of them warranted 2 hrs of my time each week.๐Ÿ˜€
  3. YES, that's IT! She was connected to the Binion case, right? I'll read the link articles. Thanks so much!!
  4. Does anyone remember a Vegas case with an older woman named Margaret who was convicted of killing her husband who was a wealthy antiques dealer and somehow she was tied into the Ted Binion case with Sandy and Rick and all the silver stashed underground?? The woman fled and was finally picked up in the NE (I think Boston) where she was living with a BF who was a firefighter (if memory serves me correctly)?? I know they had several show about her on Dateline or 20/20. This has been bugging me for several days๐Ÿ˜„
  5. My belief is that Ontreon has an eating disorder that is classified as an "addiction." It's like any other substance abuse addiction. He uses the food to "mood alter" emotions he doesn't know how to (and chooses not to) regulate in other, less harmful ways. The "calorie count" of an item wouldn't come into his calculus of what he chooses to eat because that's not something that interests him. It is uncertain whether he has the emotional depth or capacity to "rewire" his brain and fight his addiction. That would be up to him and a therapist.
  6. I was wondering about their housing and transportation. At first I thought this was an episode that might have been filmed some years ago because there was absolutely no visible reference to COVID. I know Texas has no mask mandates; however, I believe medical facilities in all states have some masking procedures in place, ESPECIALLY with all the co-morbidities this guy had! The only thing that contradicts my theory is that his session with Dr. Paradise seemed recent as this season all the therapy sessions are assigned to him, The apt seemed more "upscale" than seemed to be warranted under the circumstances of him having no way to make a living and his wife not being legally eligible to work (maybe she worked "on the side") The vehicle seemed expensive and I didn't see any use of a computer (internet access) so I was thinking that maybe the show rented the apt for them and provided them with that vehicle? His general hygiene and clothing were not congruent with the level of comfort, function and amenities the show portrayed although his wife had a lovely appearance and wardrobe. It struck me that when he was working out with his friend he referred to his sneakers and other items were "in storage." As, IMO, it was clear from early in the episode that he wasn't going to make any progress in losing weight, these other features interested me.
  7. I hope somebody answers your question accurately. I, too, wondered about the same thing.
  8. LOL....I accidentally deleted the episode from my DVR (I mistakenly recorded that new show that replaced Jamie that I had no interest whatsoever to view) so now my interest is whetted about the new couples. I know they always repeat the last show in a time slot leading up to the new episode so I'll catch it on Wednesday.
  9. I agree with you about the "self esteem issues"; however, she had many talents and abilities, a close, loving family and, from what they said, an active social life with other men. That she chose to carry on an affair with this cipher of a "man" for many years bewildered me. He was emotionally distant (even the later texts of endearment toward her seemed "canned") and certainly didn't shine in other areas (that I could see), so the relationship didn't "compute" with me. This was a very sad case.
  10. My remark was intended toward the PRODUCTION COMPANY, certainly not Dr. Now's clinical standards, that I have always considered "above and beyond the call of duty!!"
  11. I'm not familiar with that show; however, I know that Ryan is a fitness enthusiast so, just from the title, I think it would be a perfect fit for him. He received an $11 million settlement from the State for being wrongfully incarcerated (A GREAT outcome; however, there is no amount of $$$ that could compensate an innocent man for 10 years of imprisonment!) Also, to this DAY, the killer of the sports editor (name escapes me at the moment) has never been found AND the intellectually challenged co-defendant of Ryan is still behind bars even though it was clearly established that he didn't commit the crime either. Of course, Ryan had the services of the super-star defense attorney, Kathleen Zellner, who was able to get his jury verdict overturned (an almost impossible feat)! Last, after his release, Ryan was in a relationship with a lady named Myka for several years. However, I recently read he is engaged to be married to another woman. Wishing Ryan the BEST would be an understatement!
  12. Why do I think that while your suggestion that production spring for a limo for Dr. Paradise is quite endearing and called for under the circumstances, it was NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. "Production" (Dr. Now's son's company) seems to be on the stingy side in every regard. Look at the measly allotments they give the participants as an example. I think that Dr. Paradise was so thrilled to flee that incredibly disgusting experience he was more than happy to get behind the wheel of his own vehicle and fight the Houston traffic to get home as a survival strategy known as DISTRACTION๐Ÿ˜€
  13. On another note, it seems likely that with the active social life envisioned by the agent's parents, with them living in the area for 27 years, many other prospective sales in the $1M range should come flowing to her๐Ÿ˜„ On that basis alone, I think she made a wise career decision!
  14. As with Steven Assanti (sorry to be so cynical but can't help myself), I think the show is FINE with such outrageous behavior as it is a ratings bonanza. As we can see, the buzz on the boards today centers around her nakedness. I bet a lot of viewers who missed the original airing will want to view the episode on "On Demand."
  15. When Dr. Now did the endoscopy he didn't seem to see any issues with her intestinal tract except the gall stones. That means that somehow, some way, that massive amount of food she eats makes it down her digestive system. I think I recall from some science class in high school it's called peristalsis where the body rhythmically moves food down your digestive tract irrespective of gravity. I understand it, but I don't "get it."๐Ÿ˜„
  16. I have a question: How does a person eat while LYING DOWN???? How does the food digest? Between the disgusting food, the obvious filth in the home (despite some effort to clear the floors), the improbable eating position, the inability to cover herself appropriately and the constant yelping of the dogs I reached a point of sensory overload that required me to FF over most of the episode. This woman is essentially a toddler emotionally, intellectually and "spiritually" so whatever the surgery might accomplish changing her physically might be a mere afterthought to her overall functioning. This one was a HUM DINGER!!
  17. Your excellent, concise and informative discussion of the issue of annulment serving as a possible "escape valve" for prospective candidates to consider if the match doesn't work out (rather than a divorce) would, in my opinion, further limit the # of candidates for the show. What you're describing (especially the part about the Court's discretion regarding granting or denying the application) would probably be VERY COSTLY and time consuming. Even a divorce, should the couple choose to stay married on decision day but wish to divorce at a later date, involves costs ,TIME and effort to make sure all the paperwork is filled out and processed properly (probably would involve retaining an attorney). My understanding is that if the couple parts ways on DD, the show picks up the tab and retains, or has on staff, an attorney. This, in addition to the loss of privacy, emotional distress and, possibly loss of reputation by appearing on the show doesn't auger well for many people deciding whether they want to participate, especially after the last 2 seasons!
  18. My belief is that they have a selection of viable candidates (ready, willing and able to be available for the filming) that is not very large. Therefore, they "mix and match" what they have (like a Rubik cube) to pair those they think will make the best match from a "drama" perspective. My sense is that the goal of the show is no longer "marriage" in the traditional sense. It's just creating a high-drama package of disparate people to draw in an audience.
  19. Did anyone catch what she did for a living? He seemed to have a very good job in the hot Nashville area so maybe a bonus or other financial "perk" will finance the kitchen๐Ÿ˜‰
  20. No offense to Guy (or Hunter); however, if Guy believes that Hunter can compete with him in the personality, cooking ability, and/or ability to relate to a TV audience departments, he's sadly mistaken. I don't see Hunter as anything other than what we see him do on all these Guy-produced shows. He's a very pallid and innocuous presence that fades into the proverbial woodwork. Of course, Guy may be grooming him to run the tremendous multi-million$$$ business he has created; however, I don't see Hunter succeeding alone in front of the cameras. He does seem like a very nice young man, however.
  21. I SO HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT!!๐Ÿ˜„ When I thought of those lovely children being uprooted from their present, comfortable home and thrust into that construction zone (who knows how many "construction loans" and "delays" would probably have occurred where the family was in limbo), I got sick!!
  22. Their goal of being debt (mortgage) free sounded great in theory. I wonder how it played out in "practice" REAL LIFE? I wonder how much profit they were planning on getting from the sale of their present home? Somehow, the numbers simply don't "crunch" properly for me! As a matter of fact, I wonder if, in the end, they may have ended up with no mortgage, but no cash either.๐Ÿ˜Š
  23. I didn't think Clara looked much different EXCEPT that her "root rot" part was appropriately blended into her main hair color and the style had some "beachy waves." Other than that, she looked essentially the same to me. Her point about now choosing to engage in "casual dating" didn't surprise me either. I seem to recall that before signing up for the show Clara stated that she was (my interpretation) a "serial dater" who as quickly "involved" with different men all of whom left her. My understanding with Ryan was that he was a quirky-looking guy who had a good career and a wholesome, traditional Church-going family. His religious life was very important to him. When Clara presented herself at various events, her appearance did not seem to conform to what was traditional in his Church "culture." For example, the inattention Clara gave to "touching up" her hair color always, in my opinion, gave her a "floozy-like" look that Ryan might not have felt comfortable with being seen with in a social setting. The racial focus that Ryan always promoted (his T-shirts) seemed antithetical to having a wife from a different race and pointed to the fact that this difference was prominent in him selecting a mate. I wonder if that criterion was clearly stated on his application form. In any event, each had his/her '15 minutes of fame" and are now splendidly single to pursue their separate paths in life.
  24. Agreeing with everything positive that has been said about Lucas, the only thing I would add is that I wish he would have shown a modicum of attention to his "scruffy" appearance. I thought a nicely trimmed beard (if facial hair was his preference) would have coincided beautifully with the steps he was taking to get healthy by losing weight. Through the years I've noticed that many of the pounders (like Joe or Shawn) had very sparse beards. A few straggly wisps of facial hair that could easily have been trimmed were each so inclined. Then, others, like Randy and Gideon (who did so well with weight loss years ago) had full beards and chose to keep the "disheveled look" regardless of how much weight they lost. Justin, on the other hand, neatly trimmed his beard at the end of his weight loss shows and I thought that significantly contributed to his excellent overall appearance.
