  1. I'm from around there too, kind of (Erie, PA which isn't exactly in that region, but not too far from it and currently dealing with a sudden rash of heroin overdoses). Maybe that explains the unsettling deja vu. I agree on giving props to the writers, the character backstories are strickingly on point. Can't wait for next season.
  2. This thread's a bit old so I'm not sure if you've made your decision yet or not, but I'm a huge fan of watching things in meticulous order from beginning to end so nothing is missed...might be a bit compulsive, but I'd say start at the beginning if you really want to immerse yourself. Some of the things that seem unimportant to other people may be what make the show for you, ya know? So while the first season *was* a bit procedural-y, and while it probably wouldn't hurt your actual understanding of the story to skip it, I think it's essential to getting into the groove :) Plus it's got Glen and his cool, completely natural Irish accent xD
  3. Does anyone suspect that Eugene has some sort of mental disability? I haven't read the comics and I don't want to assume, but some of his mannerisms, his tone, and just his general vibe are very reminiscent of the people in my life that have Aspergers. There's also the Rainman factor, if he does indeed end up having some answers. Basically, I don't think he's just some socially inept gamer geek with a bad haircut and a dream. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but yeah, xD Not saying he really is the savior of all mankind, but why would Abraham follow and protect someone so vehemently without a little proof? Unless...are they brothers? Anyone have any speculations of their own? Also: that freakin' mullet.
  4. Oh thank God there's somewhere somewhat familiar to discuss BtVS as if it never ended...I almost felt an uncomfortable chill of reality creeping up on me...=P I really hope this takes off. Can't wait to be part of something like TWoP was (I was only a lowly lurker over there, but I'm trying to change). Obviously gonna be different in some ways, but yeah. Long live Buffy :)
  5. You're not alone in your obsession Toaster! I lurked the forums for this show over on TWoP but I never really felt up to diving into the conversations for whatever reason...that's gonna change as soon as OITNB comes back though! Hope to see you around :)
  6. Not that I think she's redeemable in any way, shape or form, but I think Pennsatucky is one of the most complex and fascinating characters on the whole show. I have known and been around so many people that if they're not like her already, they're on their way to becoming her. She's kind of a tragic portrayal of what poverty, drug addiction, and (most likely) severe family broken-ness can do to a person. Add in the confusion of living a lie to cover up for her actions until it's seeped into her very brain as the truth, plus the delusions of an over-inflated ego to make up for one that probably died a long time ago, and you got yourself a cluster of sad, sad, dangerous issues. And on a lighter note...I also can't wait to see if her teeth will get a little TLC after gettin' a few knocked out of her head xD
