If anybody catches mogo-on-the-gagogo from anything, I'll pass out from the shock of it!

Also, please don't call it my system. I'm trying to avoid legal liability for this. Address all complaints and lawsuits to America's Test Kitchen. 🙉

No worries! I really just wanted to use mogo-on-the-gagogo in a sentence 😏

  2. Well, if I read in the paper that someone has kicked the bucket due to an onset of mogo-on-the-gagogo, I'll know it was due to a germy avocado 😸. Actually, your system sounds interesting.

My pet peeve of the month is whiners and attention seekers on the internet (usually the same people).  They have some terrible woe is me problem - to them.  They ask for help or advice.  They get said advice and then ignore it or come back with something like you people just don't understand me and my pain/problem.

Just skim past the neverending whines. Life's too unpredictable to get caught up in them.

  4. We just had grilled TJ's turkey burgers on toasted brioche rolls with aioli and slivered red onions. They were very good! I was concerned that instructions say to put frozen turkey burgers on the grill as I was concerned that I couldn't "doctor" them with seasonings. No problem. They were delicious.

Do you mean nitrous oxide?  I've had it a couple of times for dental work.  I mostly just felt kind of happy (there's a reason they call it laughing gas).  I still felt pain, but I didn't care. Everything was just sort of floaty and slower than usual, and I didn't have a care in the world.

I don't think so. I need to call them tomorrow to ask for the name of the gas. I think the PA said it's like laughing gas. So when you left the dental office, did you feel ok?

If my middle daughter's apartment in Chinatown has a train that frequently runs past her window, is that a "railroad apartment"?

A railroad apartment has a long hall that starts at the front door and as you walk down the hall, you past one room after another,  (usually on one side) as you make your way to the last room which can be the living room. That's what I've seen. NYC folks may know of other layouts. It's like walking through a train with compartments along one side.

My grandma had one of these in her apartment on the Upper East Side in nyc.  I had forgotten all about that.

A friend had one in her "railroad apartment" on the lower east side that she shared with two other students. I'd never seen anything like it (nor a railroad apt!) before.

Oh yes, some people are shipping actors because they believe they have such great chemistry they must be secretly in love. Like, not as a joke or a fanfic, some people really believe that. And post nasty things about their actual partners.

Sometimes I understand why people say the fan is short for fanatic.

This sounds like the crazy fans of former ice dance competitors, Virtue & Moir. They created wild stories about how they were secretly married and had children. 100% fanatics.

Here's an unpopular opinion. I detest ketchup.  I hate the stuff. It is always sitting there, next to the mustard. I'd rather put paprika on my burger or hot dog. Many of you may gasp, but I eat my fries with mayonnaise.

OK...I gasped! But then, I don't get people putting ketchup on a hot dog. Hot dogs cry out for mustard & relish, or mustard & sauerkraut. I just had a vision of us all standing around a big kitchen table, debating which topping is best for burgers, hot dogs & fries 😁

  10. I'm not doing anything on the Fourth. It's so hot, we can't even eat a meal on the deck. I'm just thankful that whoever used to blast fireworks all day/night must've moved away a couple years ago (hope I didn't just jinx myself 🤞🙏🍀🥴).

I hear you, I'm dealing with my own set of blows in that my cruise, which is leaving tomorrow from Brooklyn, has been delayed getting into port for 4 hours at the last minute and we couldn't reschedule our limo. for later on such short notice, so now we have to hang out down there at the terminal for hours unless they let us check our bags and maybe we can find a cab to take us somewhere for lunch. And judging from the YouTubes we watched it's not the easiest place to do any of that. The cruise line sent us an email this evening telling us NOT to arrive early and to get there 2 hours later than we were supposed to, so I have a feeling we're going to be stuck there for a while. There aren't many seats but thankfully I bought a telescopic camping chair just in case.

Add to that the disaster of last night that we can't talk about here to this news about the site and my worrying about seasickness, I could be in a better frame of mind to go on what is supposed to be an exciting vacation. I don't know how much I will be able to log on here while I'm away so if you don't see me for a while you'll know I have hopefully not dropped off the face of the earth, have resolved my issues, and am not puking my guts up, and that all my ginger, patches and sea bands are working.

I really hope you are all still here when I get back online. If not there are always the Primetimer threads over on Reddit where we can reconnect and maybe figure something else out.

    Take care, everyone!

Wow. A lot of folks are going to be in the same boat (🥴), having to wait. I hope you can somehow check your luggage & find a place to eat.  The Internet is expensive on cruises (well, the way my husband grouses about my usage makes it feel that way). But I like to feel connected. Bon voyage and may it be a calm, fun cruise!

@Cloud9Shopper I treated the holidays when I was alone as just another day of the week and didn't pay any attention to anything holiday-ish. Watch some good movies. Order delivery from a new place.

I saw an ATK episode where they made a Mediterranean shrimp sheet pan dinner. Roast potatoes and fennel, at the end top with shrimp tossed with olive oil, oregano, and lemon zest. I had potatoes and fennel from my CSA basket, so I got shrimp and made it for dinner last night. So easy and tasty. Fennel really is sweet when cooked.

Since you live closer to the Atlantic, can you get really fresh shrimp that have no stinky fish odor and still have that wonderful sweet shrimp flavor? The only shrimp I can get like this these days is in a bag of frozen, cooked shrimp at Wegmans. I have tossed a lot of shrimp that I cooked that were inedible due to whatever they're doing between the ocean & the store (or the farm-raised variety). It seems the only great tasting shrimp are the ones we eat in good restaurants.

Man, you know it's been hot when the weather reader says, "It'll be cooler today, with highs only near 90."

It's not oven-like today but it's a bit humid. Counting the days until late September 🥵

I'm craving pizza now. I don't enjoy it much anymore, but I had a good one from Dominos, around Memorial Day. It might be because I've been dragging all day, and I still think of it as an easy dinner. But I can't afford one tonight.

Have you ever made an easy homemade pizza?  I've baked one in a cast iron skillet using a flour tortilla, good jarred marinara, Italian seasoning & garlic powder + fresh mozzarella. They call it Skillet Pan Pizza. There's a recipe for it online somewhere 🍕
