  1. I haven't gotten a chance to watch this full video, but I was surprised to see Rose there. I've heard so much recently about how much she despised her time on the show that it doesn't seem like something she would want to revisit. That being said, I also heard the con circuit can be quite profitable, and Charmed is still a pretty popular show. I imagine her guest fee and whatever she charges for autographs may be quite lucrative. It's also nice to see someone other than Holly/Brian. I'm sorry, but I didn't care for the Piper/Leo dynamic. Additionally, I don't care for the Holly/Brian one, either. No offense to the actual actors. Lastly, of the little I saw, I was surprised Holly said the Wendigo was her favorite alternate Piper episode. I assumed it would be the Fury. Granted, I'm biased. The fury allowed for so much more emotion and I think it's what truly showed Holly could lead and carry the show as the eldest sister. Rose said vampire, and I agree mostly because I have more trouble thinking of what else Paige became. The Fairytale creatures of the 5th season, the goddess, evil dimension Paige of Bad, Bad x whatever World. I just thought of the Evil Enchantress of Season 4, and that was another favorite of mine.
  2. While watching the show on Peacock, did anyone else have the end credits begin rolling about 5 minutes early? During the Marlena/Kayla/Dr. Rolf's conversation, the full credits rolled as the audio for their conversation continued. I was so happy to see Hope return. She's always worked so well with John and Steve. I've said countless times that I'm not a fan of Steve, but I do love him with Hope. Hope Williams Brady is one of my staple Days characters, and even I've adjusted to the show without her, this episode immediately reminded me why she's one of my favorites. Bo is another favorite, but I did think he felt a little rusty in his return. Maybe it's the programming(?) or whatever has happened to him, but he felt stilted and his speech felt delayed. I'm not certain if that was PR's acting choice or him trying to transition back into line readings but it made the Kate/Bo scenes not particularly enjoyable for me. I also don't buy that Kate would be that happy to see Bo. I also think Chelsea would be the first person she would mention as a shared relative of the two and not allude to the strained - at best - relationship with his father or Billie. Similar to Wendy and her relationship with Tripp which was introduced in Beyond Salem II, I thought Andrew and Andrew/Paul were difficult for me to connect to the characters and emotions. I didn't watch Beyond Salem II, so I hope the show can find a more natural way to incorporate characters and relationships introduced in the spin-off that integrate into the main show. I hope we get to see flashbacks of Hope/Megan/Bo. Since we have all the original actors, I would love to see their 80s hair and shoulder pads glory. I still like Megan, and I like that this storyline is picking up. My only reservation is Kayla. I just really don't like the character, but similar to Steve, I love like her with Hope. I'm excited about Bo's reunion with Hope, Marlena, and John. I'm indifferent about his reunion with Kayla, Steve, and Shawn. At this point, we've been getting same-sex love scenes for almost a decade starting with Will/Sonny including the recasts. Allie/Chanel. Paul/Will. Paul/Sonny. Now Andrew/Paul. Craig/Leo. Leo's constant ogling of straight men. I imagine if anyone has a problem with it, they'd be long gone by now.
  3. I wonder if they could get that many major characters in the church setting or Horton Town Square. I wish the Kiriakis Mansion had more than just the living room set. It would be great to see a collection of characters there having different conversations, memories regarding Victor, conflicted feelings regarding his actions, and maybe even someone accidentally revealing Philip's alive that leads to Kristen bringing him back to destroy Broe similar to her bringing Roman back to the canvas to destroy Jarlena. It could also be a great introduction to Victor Kiriakis - Justin and Adrienne's son. Anyway, I'm curious how the show would handle his funeral. I actually wouldn't want Sarah or Bonnie there, but I understand why they are included. Amongst that cast of characters, they feel the most inappropriate.
  4. I'm sorry I don't know what a "bro" is. I'm showing my age. However, if it's about physical activity as @DisneyBoy seems to define it, I think Freddie's Sonny was introduced as a bro. He was introduced as being much more physically adventurous, and I remember him distinctly being the youngest person to climb Mt. Everest among other physical accomplishments. FS's version of Sonny left as a completely different character than how FS's Sonny was originally introduced. I think putting Sonny in business storylines and his physical transformation had a lot to do with his change in characterization. Also, FS just wasn't good anymore by the end, imo of course. However, with Craig, Leo, Will, Sonny, Evan, the Lisa Rinna drag performer and now Andrew, I think there has been a pretty good representation of the diversity of personalities within the queer male community. Obviously, we could add Allie and Chanel if we want to talk about queerness in general.
  5. I actually disagree with Gwen and Leo. Gwen is actually really isolated as a character. She stays in her corner of the show and rarely leaves. Leo moves around the canvas more but mostly as comic relief. The characters usually seemed annoyed by him. Outside of Gwen, he doesn't even have anyone who tolerates him. This is different from Carly who was often said to be "brave and strong and loves with her whole heart" even though she was a cruel, evil woman. It's different from Sonny who shot a woman in the head while giving birth, and he was seen as the victim. I think Jason - the beloved hired hitman - and Ben - the beloved serial killer - are really the only comparisons. This was my first time meeting the adult Andrew Donovan as I didn't watch Beyond Salem 2. He didn't leave much of an impression. I also don't know if I felt his acting style would match JL/Theresa Donovan. I'm also not certain it would match well with the Kim actress or KP/Eve. I guess it doesn't matter since none of those people are on the cast. I could see him and Shane in scenes together. I remember liking Paul when he was on the cast and his relationship with Will but not Sonny. I thought he and John were okay. I laughed at how Days must always put a poster of the city/country a person is living in on their wall. Paul had a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge to make sure we knew where he was. I like Megan and Kate's dynamic. Kate actually feels like Kate again around her. I also like Megan's deliberateness. She feels more sinister than EJ or Stefan and more effective than Kristen. The Bo reveal at the end felt anticlimactic. I also wish Marlena or Kayla would have been the one to find him.
  6. ‘Days of Our Lives’ Scores Two-Season Pickup at Peacock The renewal will take the soap opera through its 60th season. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/days-of-our-lives-renewed-season-60-1235353092/ Days has been renewed for two more years, and the show will definitely be seeing 60 years. The link also says that the show is one of its top 10 most viewed original shows on the streaming platform.
  7. This episode seemed like filler to me. EJ vs Stefan, Xander vs Alex, Johnny vs Tripp. I can't say I find any of these rivalries/potential rivalries exciting. Johnny vs Tripp feels like the only even match-up to me, but that's only because both are so bland. The show needs to give Wendy a real purpose on the show. The actress is good, but the character is starting to feel superfluous. Granted, I think the show never really explained why she was so invested in Stefan's love life, but the actress still anchored the aimless writing. I think she's struggling to anchor the character in the continued aimlessness. I'm ready for Gabi to do something else.
  8. I completely agree with you. I just can't warm up to the recast Chanel. PW was only in the role for like 6 months, but I loved her interpretation.
  9. I actually think it's interesting that we stopped getting the annual, "Plan to Save Days," news articles and soft reboots from the late 2000s to maybe the mid-2010s. That alone tells me that Days must be in a better position than it used to be. I obviously lack insider knowledge, but it seems the new production schedule has really been a Godsend for Days. While we the audience may not be too thrilled at the 6-month turnaround, it not only saved Days money, but it also stopped them from going on hiatus from our screens during the peak of the Covid crisis, unlike other Soaps. That was a concern of mine, as well. That is until I watched an interview with a Ph.D. in Women's History. She discussed the history of Soap Operas/the serial and how they've survived several mediums. They started as serials in magazines/periodicals, they moved to radio, they moved to television, and now they are moving to streaming services. She stated this is a natural evolution of the strength of the medium. Granted, I don't know what that means for Days' future, but it did make me feel like the end was not necessarily near.
  10. But with Billie and Carly, Hope was "dead" when Bo first made those initial connections. The show has wanted Hope to have other romances, but they simply didn't stick. I imagine it's because Bo was alive and Bope was the rooting couple. At one point, the show really wanted to sell a Hope/John romance even having Zach be their son until fan backlash caused them to change course. The same thing happened with Hope/Patrick/Ciara, except I don't think the show wanted to sell Hope/Patrick. However, Ciara was obviously supposed to be a Lockheart until the backlash occurred. The show even wanted to sell a Hope/Justin romance when Justin first returned and Bo was with a returned Carly. Billie eventually just became an obstacle for Bope and Carly was shuffled off on Dan and became a drug addict once Bope was in full force again. After Bo left, there was Daniel Cosgrove's character - I don't remember his name. I'm not certain why that didn't take off, but it obviously wasn't going to go anywhere once they had his son rape Ciara. Then of course there was Hope/Rafe which the show actually did invest in, but again it didn't take off. I think the show sees Hope as an individual and an important character, but for some reason, her other romances just didn't click. That's different from Shawn who is there to be cheated on by Belle and be a friend to Chloe. He's not even seen as an active-duty cop anymore, That's Jada and Rafe. He just sits at the desk. It's also different from Ciara whose only characterization was harassing people who raised an eyebrow at Ben.
  11. For me, the thing that hurts this storyline/development is that it comes out of nowhere. In the decade Victor and Maggie have been married and the musical chairs of Kiriakis CEO: Brady, Philip, Alex, Deimos, Sonny, am I missing anyone? I don't believe Maggie has ever expressed wanting to be CEO. This development and even her credentials like owning restaurants - which I miss for Maggie - and running a farm seem like justifications after the fact. This is one of the times where characters not having friends hurts storylines for me. I know Maggie mentors/mothers a lot of characters: Xander, most notably, but she doesn't have peers anymore who are her friends like Julie or Marlena to discuss her reasoning for becoming CEO. Even a scene with Victor could help me transition into this new role for Maggie, but we all know why that isn't possible. All that being said, I do think Maggie/Alex work well together. Similar to Alex's scenes with Allie, Alex isn't a complete horndog with Maggie, and RSW feels more real and less plastic. I can't say I'm excited about the prospect of more Kiriakis CEO antics, but I at least enjoy Alex with Maggie more than him with Stephanie or Chad.
  12. I've been saying this about Gabi for months. She often feels out of place in Salem. This was months ago, but when he, Nicole, and Eric were working together was for Bella Magazine, I believe. I was more shocked Alex knew and cared who Isabella was since they often act like he has no idea who Ciara is. I know the Ciara thing is supposed to be a wink, wink, and nudge, nudge joke, but I was still kinda surprised he mentioned Isabella. It was odd seeing Xander and Alex in the same scene as I always wished Xander was Alex instead of the made-up character he is. I don't know how I feel about Talia. There's something about the actress' voice I find irritating. I felt the same about the Stephanie actress when she first arrived. I'm hoping she isn't slated for a Chanel romance, but there's really no one else on canvas I would want her with either. I think I liked the brief scene with Jada as sisters. She seems like she could be a bit of a troublemaker based on the scene, and the age group needs someone a tad sneaky and underhanded. I'm open to the character, but I'm a little guarded, too.
  13. Oh my goodness, someone made a writing error on a message board, I'll call the firing squad. Nicole/Eric are obviously still endgame. The show just did a tribute to the two last week, and E.J. has a decade-long history of only wanting Nicole when he can't have Sami. While the two discussed last week whether Nicole sees E.J. as an Eric replacement, they didn't discuss whether Nicole is a Sami replacement. Sami has been a much bigger factor in the Ejole relationship than Eric has been. AS/Sami not coming back full-time has not stopped this show from writing storylines around her schedule. The recent Sami/Lucas storyline shows that. Li is obviously an obstacle for Stabi. The show is constantly having people, like Nicole this week or Brady last week, or even Chloe last week, talk about their great love. Gabi isn't even pretending to be torn between the two. Obviously, anything can change in the writing, but the show is pretty committed to Stabi right now. Sarah is pregnant with Xander's child. The two are not done with each other yet. Anything can happen, but the show isn't even dangling the possibility of Belle becoming involved with any of these men. I wonder why the show didn't recast BB's Shawn a long time ago. I can't remember the show ever having much interest in him, and when Bo died a few years ago, the show brought back Jason Cook. I think he's okay, but I think the problem with BB's Shawn is with the lack of characterization and how the show positions him and not with BB himself.
  14. Me too. I think the current MM is exactly what I'd imagine the only biological child of Jarlena to be. Stephano, Orpheus, Roman, Kristen, Sami, and the literal Devil could not stop that epic romance. I imagine the child of such an epic once-in-a-lifetime couple to be quite entitled. How could she not be? I think one problem with Belle is that the men she clicked with, except JKJ's Philip, were destined for someone else. I think Abby was "dead" when Chad/Belle first started sharing scenes, but we the audience knew Abby was alive and going to eventually be reunited with Chad. EJ is obviously still on hold for Sami. Of the men on canvas, Stefan is for Gabi, and Xavier- who I can't imagine her liking - is for Sarah. The other men, like Alex or Tripp, don't seem age appropriate. I'm also not certain who Shawn could be paired with, but I don't think the show cares about him outside of cop and his friendship with Chloe and barking at Philip who isn't currently on canvas. I wonder if the show would invest in a Belle/Chad/Stephanie triangle. Also, I think another complication is that MM/Belle lives in Texas, so they probably have to film around her availability.
  15. I honestly forgot all about EJ being a lawyer. I wonder if we'll ever get a true end to the Deimos storyline. Are Eric, Brady, and Xander the only people who know? Did Sami find out about it during the custody of Henry? Does Chloe know? I don't really care, but it seems like Nicole killing someone should have more consequences. And yet she still loves Xander more than she loves her own daughter.
  16. Belle and Shawn were quite a pleasant surprise. Shawn works so well with Chloe, and he went back to being awkward and stiff with Belle. I thought it seemed odd that Shawn knew that Chloe was out of town and that Stefan was deprogrammed, but Belle seemed to have no idea when Brady explained these things to her. I think the show finally hit the perfect mark of who MM's Belle is. Petty, superior, rude, condescending, and at times dismissively malicious. That feels like how the only biological child of Jarlena should behave. I'm not certain if the show consciously set up this dynamic, but I also think it's believable that Belle would have more loyalty to Brady than Sami or Eric. I like this Belle vs the Brady twins dynamic. Melinda/Sloan was such a highlight. I liked how nasty there were to each other without ever getting aggressive. They also delivered the lines perfectly. Belle/Melinda/Sloan with a dash of Justin has to be the most lawyers we've had on the show for a while. Li/Gabi feels like an episode of The Honeymooners. Stefan/Nicole/EJ feels like an episode of I Love Lucy. Specifically, the episode when Lucy thinks Ricky is trying to kill her, and the two keep switching each other's drugged drink. Stefan is a nasty piece of work.
  17. I only (respectfully) disagree with your first point because it doesn't actually address your second point, the show didn't know what to do with Allie (Brady/Evans/with connections to Dimeras and Blacks) Horton. After her initial story with Nicole/Sami/Eric/Henry/Charlie, the show started to write Allie as an extension of Chanel, mainly RB's Chanel. I think PW's Chanel and Allie were more equal. Her relationship with Johnny, her twin brother, was mostly based on her connection to Chanel. Allie felt like an extension of the Dupree/Carver family and the show did nothing with her relationships with EJ/Jarlena/ErIc/Sonny. She didn't even feel like a major player in her father's kidnapping of her mother. The show did nothing interesting with her relationship with Johnny. Making her bad would probably result in her scheming against Johnny to keep Chanel. While that, in theory, is more interesting, let's look at Gwen to see the results of scheming without proper character grounding. It's not guaranteed to be more interesting even with a good actress, which I think both the Gwen and Allie actresses are. She will be there to provide Chanel with a story, which again doesn't actually address who is Allie Horton. I'm also concerned about making any of Sami's kids grey characters. Instead of setting the proper foundation for such grey motivations, the show will simply use the shortcut "that's Sami's kid" or the shortcut for Johnny or Sydney "that's Sami's kid and a Dimera." Neither is particularly interesting as a motivation. Anyway, I liked the actress, and I liked the character when she rarely had a purpose. I thought she shined in her one scene with Brady and I liked when she shared a couple of scenes with Belle. I also liked her short-lived friendship with Ciara and I think she makes Alex tolerable.
  18. This isn't a response to your comment, but I'm using this comment to springboard something that annoyed me this week on the show with Jennifer/Sarah and Stephanie/Sonny. I really hate the shortcuts Days use to establish relationships with characters that we don't see onscreen. Yes, Jenn/Sarah are cousins, but we so rarely see the two interact even though they were on screen together for years. MR's Jennifer and Sarah only interacted for Christmas. We've only seen CM's Jennifer and Sarah interact once. The interaction wasn't even about their relationship with each other but their shared relationship with Gwen and Jack and Sarah's shared relationship with Xander. Yes, they are cousins and that gives them a connection, but it doesn't give them a meaningful relationship. It felt odd when Sarah even said she called Jennifer - who was apparently in town. Why not stop by the Horton house and show the audience the scene - to ask about the paper. Even that seemed wildly inappropriate for the lack of relationship we've seen between the two. I can't even imagine either version of Jennifer liking Sarah very much as a person. This leads me to Sonny/Stephanie. It felt odd and unearned for Stephanie to say Sonny is her favorite cousin. Chelsea earned that title, but Sonny/Stephanie barely shared scenes. Gabi and even Leo and Bonnie would make more sense at that goodbye than Stephanie. It's like if Brady or Gwen or Tripp showed up just because they're Sonny's cousins, too. If the show wanted Stephanie/Sonny to have some "favorite cousin" relationship, then the show should invest in them. Instead, the show was investing in Stephanie/Chad/Alex and Sonny/Leo/Alex/Chad (as a platonic friend). I felt the same way with the show going out of its way to make sure we knew Allie saw Tripp before she left town to say goodbye but not her own twin brother. Do Eric, Nicole, John, and Roman even know Allie's across the globe? Granted she hasn't had an onscreen relationship with any of them in the past few months, so I guess Paulina and Abe deserve Allie's goodbye more. Wasn't this like their third goodbye to Salem? I remember Jennifer saying goodbye when she first left for Boston to settle Laura's affairs. Jennifer and Jack said goodbye again to Doug/Julie after 2022's Christmas with MR's Jennifer. Now CM's Jennifer and Jack are saying goodbye. I wonder how the show will handle Victor's funeral. Will they see it as a goodbye to Victor Kiriakis and the many antagonistic relationships he had with people on canvas? Will people be able to discuss his many evil deeds? Or will they see it as a goodbye to JA? I do think there is a subtle difference between saying goodbye to a complicated character like Victor who at times was an outright villain versus saying goodbye to JA who seems quite beloved behind the scenes.
  19. I'm happy Chloe's back. Choosing Gabi to be Chloe's first screen partner after her return was an unexpected choice, but I thought the two worked better together today than they usually do. I think it's interesting that Chloe seems to have no interest in Stefan, at all. She didn't seem bitter or angry or even mournful when she believed Gabi and Stefan were back together. I find this refreshing as it seems consistent with Chloe's character, but it's also confusing as Stefan is obviously going to remain a major scene partner for Chloe. I thought Sloan looked amazing in her turtleneck/dress combo. I didn't have a problem with Brady's actions. I don't think EM's Brady has ever been depicted as a hero, and we've seen him do several underhanded things in the name of love. It seems to be mostly forgotten by the show, but he blackmailed Nicole to leave Eric, trapped Vivian in a sarcophagus, has been borderline abusive to women, went on the run with Nicole after she kidnapped Holly from Chloe, etc. I don't think he's ever been portrayed as the hero his father is. Also, if the show is going to continue with this Chloe/Brady/Gabi/Stefan/Li storyline, Brady and Stefan need actual reasons to be antagonistic to each other. I kind of tuned out Ericole. I don't dislike them, but I do think I'm starting to reach my limit on this latest merry-go-round. I really like Wendy, but I did not like the scenes with Tripp. I laughed at him making Italian food. I guess the spirit of Ava lives on with us.
  20. Lucky and Maxie's affair was before Cooper and the Metro Court hostage situation. By the time of the hostage situation, Liz and Lucky were attempting to stay together for "their" baby, but I think the crisis is when Liz told Jason he was the father of the baby.
  21. I'm assuming Chloe will get pregnant from her night with Stefan, too. Could we be looking at a three-way baby switch? I'm assuming Sarah's potential baby will be a boy. Maybe Michael Horton.
  22. My unpopular opinion is that I don't see Sarah as a moral person, and I think Xarah could work as is. Sarah was willing to forgive Xander relatively quickly - after a conversation with Maggie and Bonnie - regarding his role in Susan's death. It was finding him with Gwen that ultimately destroyed the couple. So far, the two have a history of Xander doing something evil, Sarah getting mad...forgiveness. They are basically a younger Victor/Maggie. Maggie herself has become a lot less moral since her marriage to Victor. I never really bought Sarah being Xander's conscious. The two were played more for comedic relief after the baby switch, and they just recently started to be given gravitas again with the Susan kidnapping, Xander lying and gaslighting Sarah storyline. That being said, I prefer for the end of Xarah. Sarah feels like an adult away from him. I wouldn't mind a Gabi/Stefan/Sarah/Chad or Alex quad.
  23. I also get Peacock for free via Xfinity; however, I get the premium version for free. I believe @Panopticon is talking about the free for everyone version - regardless of their cable provider - that comes with more commercials and restricts the movies and televisions shows you can watch. Days and its spin-offs, i.e. Beyond Salem, aren't available on that option of Peacock.
