  1. TPTB made a decision to have an obese woman as a main character and now they have chosen to write her asa character who is defined only by her weight and punished constantly for it. I recently watched Shrill and the comparison is so clear. Shrill gives us a complete character who is a great writer and has friends and is fat and has issues with it.
  2. Is this really how you saw that play out? What I watched was an addict take advantage of an insecure woman ( who admitted to having a high school crush) because she was a doctor and would likely be a source for drugs. Which seemed to me to be the reason that he ran out after stealing from her prescription pad.
  3. In all fairness, he did specifically mention the hair follicle test, which is used to be able to prevent users from cleaning up quickly for the test and that test does indeed continue to detect heroin for 90 days so not a year but it could still be within the 90 day period since he got clean.
  4. I am so pissed at the writers, I really liked this show in season one and now it has become so cliche and predictable. Kevin become a full fledged addict in like 2 months and is stealing prescription pads? Not likely, first he's a rich celebrity there is no way that he doesn't have people who can get this stuff for him and that he doesn't have people handling him so that he can get through the high school stuff with out making a scene. Also I'm just not buying that it went that fast. And then, of course the fat girl can't have good things happen. I would so love if they gave Kate just one thing to be great at. She's an awesome doctor and sh'e fat or she's a great accountant and she's fat...or better yet she's an awesome mom.
  5. When i pick my 8 year old up from school I ask her about her day and then she always asks me about my day too. I think it's part of teaching empathy and understanding.
  6. Amber's behavior over the ornament was so wrong, she the grown up/the parent-your 8 year old shouldn't be parenting you. That said, I find it hard to believe that Leah is the only child in class whose parents don't live together and I would think the school would accommodate that.
  7. YES!!! I have been thinking the same thing. I have watched since the beginning, I was intrigued but often let weeks go by before i would watch. Now I am looking forward to Sundays and I am really sad that it's ending.
  8. Honestly, Adam is awful for forgetting his daughters birthday and so many other things like the father daughter dance, but I'm fully down with "take one for the team" . My husband loves our daughter dearly but I can tell you that if I didn't put important dates on his calendar he would be a no show all the time. Is it my job NOPE but I do it because my daughter's happiness is my job.
  9. My ex's father surprised his wife and kids with a new house and let me tell you not only wasn't she happy about it. In fact, as the story went she didn't really speak to her husband for about a year.
  10. If losing your keys is a sign that you are a dysfunctional loser then I must have a big "L" on my forehead. I have a busy career, serve on multiple boards and have a great kid who participates in lots of activities and I lose my keys and my phone in my house from time to time. And yes it's not that hard to find a place to put my keys...but my hands are full or I'm on the phone and life happens. Then again perhaps the issue isn't that Leah couldn't find her keys as an isolated incident but more her reaction to not finding the keys and all of the other things like nodding out and always being late etc. I know I'm in the minority but I feel pity for Kail. I see her as someone who grew up with no role model of how to act right. I think she tries and I think she often fails when it comes to romantic relationships but I think she is good mom to her boys.
  11. Well you know she's a professional herself with her Mary Kay and all
  12. Gary and Kristina are really good parents and Leah is really lucky she has them. I thought it was very telling when Gary was asking Leah about feeling left out or loved and she said I usually talk to Kristina about that; because in all the real ways Kristina is her mother. Tyler and Cate-In general I can't stand Tyler and how he has historically treated Cate, however this episode reminded me of some of the struggles I have had in my own marriage. My husband also suffers from both depression and an anxiety disorder. About a year into our marriage his mental illness reach a critical point and he was really refusing to get help. It's not easy being the other partner either. I really felt for him but at some point I got frustrated and his illness absolutely effects me too. Every once in while now almost 15 years later something will trigger him and it's awful. He's in bed for hours at a time cycling through being anxious to being depressed and I have no choice but to take care of our daughter and the house. I have at times been frustrated and angry that I am forced to deal with his mental illness. I think Ryan was using and I think he stopped. The way that Maci was talking about him just made it seem to me that there was an actual "thing" that happened. Given how he looked in the tie-dye and how he looked when Bentley was at his house, I think he got clean.
  13. What on earth was Farrah going on about with the washing machine. Does she think that if her mother does a less than full load that it will effect Sophia's life? And the way she speaks to her??? I know that both Farrah's parents are terrified that she will take away their granddaughter forever but really to be treated that way I just can't. As odd as it is I find myself partially agreeing with Amber, Not that she should have 50-50 custody but that they should have a set visitation schedule. It is not fair to ask a 6 year old to have that kind of responsibility and uncertainty. I actually think if she went to court she would likely get a formal visitation schedule. I have a 6 year old and from time to time she will tell anyone that I don't play with her and that she gets bored, she doesn't necessarily see that if I don't clean the house or do laundry or cook dinner, we live in squalor with no clean clothes and we don't eat. I did my first mud run this fall and I loved it.
  14. Here's my take on the job situation, your children are only really little once and if you have the opportunity to be home more and take care of them I have nothing but respect for that. I think all the moms should be in school and preparing themselves for post Teen Mom 2. I think it would be better if they were prepared to get professional jobs that pay well, have ladder of success and come with benefits-then for them to take minimum wage jobs just to have a job. They get the MTV money and a good education is a great investment. I think this is what Chelsea has done and I think it makes sense to work part time now and be able to increase her hours as needed. Leah on the other hand has done nothing to prepare herself. Speaking of Leah, she was absolutely high through most of the episode. The scene on her deck she was nearly nodding off. As for Jo and his freaking out about money right before having a baby...well my husband did that too and we both have really good jobs but it's a game changer and its scary. In fact I would be lying if I said it doesn't happen every once in while when I think about paying for college. Having the occasional OMG moment about finances especially before a big milestone is pretty normal.
  15. It's been a while since I watched Kail's 16 and Pregnant but I remember Jo being an immature idiot. I remember him being down right mean to her. In fact his mother gave him quite a talking to about it. In fact I am remembering that Jo and Kail were not even together when she started up with Jordan but that she was sneaking because she was still living with Jo and his family and that they were upset about her FB status change because she was being dishonest. I think she's forever pissed off that he didn't grow up and mature while they were together. She got a mean little boy while Vee got a responsible man and that's the part that she can't handle. It's like on Sex and the City when big tells Carrie that he's getting married and she's like I got you to the place where you are ready to settle down and now your going to do it with someone else. Or even When Harry Met Sally, when she cries it's not that he didn't want to get married, it's that he didn't want to marry me. If you are detained but not arrested you can not leave but there is no record of an arrest. You can be detained but not arrested for many reason including if you are a person of interest, if you might be of danger to yourself or if you need to pay fees, etc.
