  1. Oh God, oh God I miss 10 and Donna Noble...so much.
  2. I loved, loved loved Matt Smith's tenure, I loved the convoluted complexities of the stories with Amy and Rory. Anything Weeping Angels, still terrifies me. (Blink and Tenant I can't even watch it in the dark!) Some of his series I didn't love, but that's because I loved Amy and Rory and disliked Clara. I sobbed like a baby when Amy said "Goodbye" in Angels take Manhattan. Any problem I had with Stephen Moffat's era was how he paid off some of his complex story lines poorly, or not at all. While I tolerated some dropped plots, Because Capald's Doctor still had Clara, his tenure was my least favourite. Till last season. All the Doctors till now I've connected with. With Jodie Whittaker I just cannot. I gave her a season. The faces she makes...I just cant. I liked her in Black Mirror but there's a difference between being in an episode and carrying a series. Never watched Broadchurch so I can't comment there. She's just not MY Doctor. She doesn't seen to have any backstory other than occasional snark directed at hardcore fans. Matt Smith's Doctor used to rage about how old he was, what's he's lost and cost and things and we believed he was an infinitely old, tired, angry, manic and witty lover of fish fingers and custard. Do we know anything about Jodie's Doctor other than she's "an upgrade"? In whose world? Much of the problem is Chibnall's writing, which till now has been pretty abysmal.. So, it's a failure for me.
  3. What fun? I honestly watched this episode until Whitaker said she'd "had an upgrade" and I just couldn't. My husband, a very casual watcher, watched the episode, kept asking me questions while this longtime fan (and I'm a woman, so it's not all men who dislike this series's Doctor with her "fam" with the exception of Graham because Bradley Walsh can actually act) pouted and watched youtube instead. Every time I looked up at the TV The Doctor had on her O face, or her whacky quirky lip sneer face on. Nope, I'm done. I was done last series, but like my anger for Game of Thrones I really wanted it to turn out better. It won't. I'm still angry that they chose a not very talented woman to play The Doctor. Those who say they "love" this series are probably really new fans, not long term, long lasting ones. I've watched since the 1960s! There have been a few poorish seasons in the past, Capaldi's era wasn't my favourite but the constant digs at fans just makes me want to kill my TV.
  4. I never really thought of it that way before, but then if I love you, chances are we did or were going to have sex anyway. I
  5. They do that, though. I don't remember what they played during Season 1 episode 4, the last part when it was "We are handmaids bitches", can't remember, the song but it was great. I'm of that generation, from the 60s to now, and often the music is my favourite part of the show. Whoever decides on the music is like they are in my head. If you don't know the music, it might surprise or startle you but it's a very important part of this series. Often I just like it because it's one of my favourite songs, not that it particularly "goes" with the them of the show, that's the point, it doesn't. But for me it works.
  6. The best thing about this show, is the music, in my most humble opinion. Of course, it's "My" music too, from my parent's music I listened to in the womb till now, 55 years and change. More than Words, I loved, loved Extreme then and now. Such tight harmony. The 80s big hair. I am often seriously bugged by the show, but the music...I always love their music choices.
  7. By the looks of it, only Winterfell is represented at the meeting. Thus The Last Hearth (Umbers), The Carhold (Karstarks), House Cerwyn, The Dreadfort (Boltons), Deepwood Mott(Glover), Bear Island (Mormont), aren't represented at all. There are a bunch more other houses that were never shown in the show. We know what happened to The Last Hearth, Bear Island and the Dreadfort--all were killed off in the show, but the other houses...Lord Glover's house should technically still be on the hook for refusing the call.
  8. I’m not sure if I’ll come back for the prequel, but I’ll be around a few pages. I appreciate knowing ahead of time how sucky the ending would be, because between this thread and the Freefolk, I’ve been kept spoiled and happy-ish. cheers.
  9. I thought of all those kids called Khaleesi, sometime last night while my jaw was on the floor. I'm not just mad at D and D. I'm mad at George RR Martin, too. I've spent so much money, time and braincells on both this show and more importantly the books. Did Daeny going nuclear surprise me? Nope, because I have read the books and watched the series over and over. She did kind of what I expected, she was a dragon. But the franchise gets no more money from me, I will not buy TWOW or A Dream of Spring if and when they ever come out. I will watch the end next week, wipe my hands and get on with life. And that's important because why? Well, early this spring I started going to the Y 3 times a week swimming hard, because our FIL died suddenly in Jan. and I didn't want to have a heart attack before GOT ended. Fuckit, I'm going to stroke out just reading comments about this season! No I'm not. I can walk away and live life.
  10. Nope, not Harry's horse, he had a different bridle on. And he had 2 twisted back legs when last seen.
  11. The craziest thing, I immediately and for no reason when the stallion showed up, I thought she was Drogo, she was dead, and finally riding to the Nightlands. Haven't seen the commercial for next week but I assume Arya's alive and I was maybe drunk?
  12. I am a book reader first but I absolutely love this show. I've spent years rewatching, watching every spoiler, theory, and basically everything GOT and ASOIAF. (I watched the videos of the 2 leaked scenes today.) If you start at the beginning of the series and continue, it's abundantly clear when the show "writers" ran out of George's material. Most of season 5-7 was cringey and awful, with small parts of good in them, for one my favorite episode was The Winds of Winter, because the music was amazing. This season tops Season 7 as the most terrible. Will I get over it? Some day, but it's been a huge part of my life for years. So, we are entitled to be disappointed in absolutely terrible writing, lack of dialogue, lack of lighting, and hacked everything.
  13. I listened without captions and I plainly heard . “ He never should have trusted Cersei.” Closed captions are often wrongly worded, being from hearing people who all hear differently. I am always catching problems on youtube closed caps.
  14. I love this comment so much. Not everyone wants silly sexy times in our favourite show. I don't. We don't have time for it and neither do the characters. Honestly, I've thought about my own self 25 years ago when I was still young, would I go off and screw if the world was about to end? Nope. It's fan service and nothing else. Lots of squeals of glee from shippers-- note everyone who has commented on this site alone. GRRM writes wonderfully, but he writes cringe worthy sex scenes, especially if you are listening to Roy Dotrice narrate the books. D and D like to shock, but they write cringey sex scenes themselves. To keep this on point it's really because they screwed up Jon and Dany's romance. It isn't believable. They meet, they talk, blah blah a bit, then she sees him touch Drogon, she loses Viserion and boom, they're in love. It wasn't realistic in the rushed last season. Maybe if they had expended a bit of time in character development between these two important people, and less time having a bro journey beyond the wall and a dead polar bear...I might have bought it. As it is now, I don't.
  15. Leslie Jones and Seth Myers are the reason I am smitten with this show. I never was one bit interested until I saw Them together. They were hilarious. I started watching immediately, was completely unspoiled for every episode up to season 6, and after watching their skit I went to the first season and began a love affair with this show. And the books.
  16. Actually, Slynt murdered the Baratheon baby (bastard). He deserved what he eventually got. You won't change my mind on Daenerys, she is far from my favourite character, she's either a savior like Christ, or a cold blooded murderer, or both. Depends who you ask. The Tarley's were doing their jobs as soldiers. Following orders.
  17. Slight difference--Jon executed a traitorous boy who PLUNGED a knife in his heart, killing him. Daenerys murdered 2 soldiers who refused to kneel. They had done nothing to her.
  18. Nope, not me I think it's Sam and Jon talking about the end of the Night's Watch. Think about it, used to be many of us, now it's just us (or words to that effect, I don't have an exact quote) I assume that means all the NW, Tormond, Edd are dead.
  19. I love Tyrion, but TV Tyrion has killed more than his father. He murdered Shai, the woman he loved (but good riddance), and then his father. Prior to that, when going to or coming from The Vale, he killed the guy that attacked them with a shield. So he has a temper- though killing the guy at the Vale/on the road was justified as he was being attacked and he saved Catelyn's life in the process. Tyrion's story has been getting darker as time goes on, he isn't the sweet, funny, well read man of the first couple seasons. He's more dark in the books, but he's been through a lot of crap in the books. As The Hound has become a somewhat "nicer" character, we see other's who become worse, like Arya, Tyrion and frankly Daenerys. She burns people who will not kneel. Take away her dragons and you take away her power. She'd have burned down the Red Keep already if not counselled not to. I'm not a Dany fan. And the North won't be Dany fans either IMO, The Targs were despots and yay, now we have 2 and likely (gag) a baby!
  20. Ser Hunts and Fire and Blood are always "Leaking" silly fan fiction as legitimate "leaks" and "Spoilers". They have zero credibility. Just clickbait. Though Fire and Blood does come up with some interesting stuff, I pick through his stuff just to see what insanity he's putting out today. Tomorrow it'll be something different. I do usually believe Friki, he's at least in the right country, and he quits when it's something he cannot possibly know, because it was filmed in a studio.
  21. See, this is why I prefer horses. Foot soldiers and regular folks can only run so fast, the GC included. They couldn't even tuck tail and turn back. I know my horses can outrun a brushfire, but dragons? Never. Count me as the one who would hoof it away from anywhere there's that army of the dead on my feisty Arabian, post haste. Catch up to me in Dorne....:)
  22. Considering what his deformity is thought to be, this was never possible as it was. Now he moves around with a single crutch and brace, pretty magical guy. But, what happened? Were they all killed but Bjorn? I failed to understand the artsy fartsy last bit, used to be such a great show but it jumped the shark rather badly. The Seer's dead, so is Bjorn dead too, Ubbe and Hvitserk?
  23. I guess I knew that, I watch on Crave or Kodi, but usually the episodes are around 54 mins. However, they often have a "previously on Game of Thrones", which cuts 2 or 3 minutes off the front of the episode.
  24. I keep reading how the 8th season is just like a bunch of movies. Well, if 2 episodes are no longer than 60 mins, it's a rip off. No movie runs 60 mins. No movie runs 80 mins either. I'm completely disappointed, we'll have no road travel, just teleportation again. Last season was a rushed mess, and it appears so will this season be. The end, dammit I would have liked to see a couple 2 hour episodes. 60 mins will be cut to 53-54 mins so they can pile a bunch of commercials in. These characters we've loved so long, unless most die I don't see how this season can't be a rushed mess like last season. :( But if they don't give us more comedic gems of Sam swilling shit and food, I guess that's a good thing at least.
  25. Ye Gods, what the hell did I just watch? When Vikings was first on air, a joint Canadian/Irish production on a small budget, it was so fun. Now they are constantly trying to be Game of Thrones, and playing WAY too fast and loose with history and historical figures, it's just become utter dreck. I know Hirst has always claimed he wasn't presenting it as historical, but the thing is, now they are playing seriously with written history. People look up who was Alfred's mother, and what pops up is JUDITH. She wasn't the mother of Alfred The Great, his mother was Osburh. He was one of 5 children of Aethelwulf. Stop it, show! It is easier with Viking history because much of it is lore, not written down and thus if they have their characters "kinda" living at the same time as written English accounts, then it's ok. But Harald Finehair died around 1066(ish) while Alfred reigned from 871-886, that's 200 years difference. That's some loose history. And why the hell is Lagertha's hair suddenly blue? Ok, maybe ash blonde but more blue than blonde. On both computer and TV. Don't get me started on how magical she must be, everyone she meets male or female, beds her and falls in love with her. She has some great plot armour, I imagine she's under Harold's cloak on the way back to Kattegat to be murdered again by the big bad Ivar. Bye, Heahmund, you were a freak... The only thing I'm glad of, is not to be watching more of Floki's depressing camping trip in the rain. Is there supposed to be more episodes? Kodi only showed 4, with this episode being the last.
