She must have gotten some backlash about the constant vacationing, hence the need to remind us all that David is a hard-working man who works really hard, that all the kids help out in the family business (no mention of Jill herself doing any of the work) and that they are HONORED to be serving Jesus! Message received, Jillybean.

They're making poor Evy Jo wear hand-me-downs?

Unfortunately for Jill, the link with the Duggar family she was so proud and thrilled over couldn’t have come at a worse time. Thanks to Josh, the TV glory days are over, the family’s image is shattered and being a Duggar-in-law doesn’t have the cachet it once did. I’m sure that there are still a few people who are impressed by Jill’s connection and I’m sure she plays it up for all it’s worth, but the bloom is definitely off that rose.

That’s when the sons-in-law will be expected to step up and send them a monthly check to support them in the style they’re accustomed to. Their own kids, of course, will be useless; the girls won’t be allowed to have jobs and the boys will never be able to earn enough to support themselves, much less their parents. It’s up to the girls to marry guys who can earn a decent living and are willing to pick up the tab. And if the sons-in-law ever balk, Jill will ladle on the emotional blackmail, beginning with “Honor thy mother and thy father” and ending with “My SEVERELY injured knee!”

And really, at this point, what is there to say?

She'll get some blowback for this and will have to do damage control. Watch for the next post: "My Dad told David that my constant devotion to my Precious Mom and the long grueling hours I've spent at her bedside have driven me to the point of exhaustion and that for the good of my mental and physical health, David must take me away for some much-needed rest and recuperation. I did not want to go and they had to literally DRAG me away from her bedside before I could finish styling what was left of her BEAUTIFUL hair! I am slowly getting my strength back, despite the pain that has flared up in my SEVERELY injured knee (which I'm sure you will all remember) My heart is still with her and what a blessing it would be to return to the hospital and find that y'all have continued to send her your prayers and contributions in my absence! God is sooo Good!"

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
Albanyguy replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
I think Anna will visit as often as Jim Bob is willing to foot the bill for her travel (Prissy and David better brace themselves for a semi-permanent houseguest). She's always promoted herself as the perfect Fundie wife and mother and from now on, that will entail making a big production of "standing by her man". Jim Bob will visit Josh sporadically (probably accompanying Anna on her first few visits) but will eventually get bored and drop off. I don't think Michelle will ever visit Josh, not even once. There will always be some excuse, probably along the lines of "It's too painful". And I'm sure it would be painful for her, as I think Josh is one of the few children she genuinely loves. But Michelle is lazy and selfish and tackling difficult, painful tasks for someone else's benefit is not in her wheelhouse. The only reason she might feel compelled to visit is if she thinks she might be criticized if she doesn't. She can get around that, though, by having Jim Bob "forbid" her to go, in order to spare her delicate feminine sensibilities. Instead, she'll make a big show of sending him cards and letters (with lots of Bible verses) and money for snacks. It's been speculated that Josh may refuse to allow any of them to visit him (he doesn't have to see anyone if he doesn't want to), but I doubt that will happen. One of the biggest hurdles a prisoner faces is boredom and a visitor, even if it's someone he doesn't like, is a welcome break in the monotony. -
They probably didn't have to. There may have been a time when Amy demanded to be paid for interviews, but now she's so desperate for attention, they can likely get her for nothing (which is really all she's worth to them).

I think that’s true and I also think it’s one of the many traits she had in common with her mother-in-law. -

He might do it if he could find a bargain-priced house he could snap up, let Anna and the kids use for a few years and then make a profit by flipping it. -

Or a blue one at Best Buy. -
And I think at least a few of them actually believe that they’ll back on TV again one day and that they have to stay prepared. Of course, there’s not a snowball’s chance, but hope stings eternal.
