  1. Jill and The Hunk toured the "A Christmas Story" house a while back. I'm sure that Mahmo never visits any tourist attraction without spending a bundle on herself in the gift shop. At the time we were all surprised that she claimed to be a fan of a movie that celebrates Christmas without any mention of the Baby Jesus and that features that lacivious "leg lamp". And now she apparently brought this immodest, Godless object into her home!

  4. “I hate him and I hate his ass face!” (tm Christopher Guest)
  5. I'm sure that the staff at Moody has spent years dealing with self-righteous, self-important Fundies like Jill Rodrigues and Jim Bob Duggar who expect special treatment because God loves them better than anyone else. They've probably learned to be as impersonal and business-like as possible in self-defense.
  6. I think Amy will send Dax to public school, if only because she likes to show people that she’s more mainstream and “worldly” than her Fundie relatives. No SOTDRT for her!
  7. I have no interest at all in seeing these episodes (in fact, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one full episode of BUB), but I would be very interested in hearing why the show was yanked off the air so abruptly. There’s a story there, but I doubt if we’ll ever hear it.
  8. "Our team is GOING places!" Well, one place your team is not GOING is Hawaii, Jillybean.
  9. And at that point, Anna was still smugly convinced that Josh-u-a would be vindicated and walk out a free man. She had no reason to be upset with Jim Bob or anyone else. She was far more interested in smirking for the cameras outside the courtroom.
  10. It’s also called making up a story to get attention. By now, she’s probably convinced herself that she really was pregnant and had a miscarriage. Being pregnant at the same time as your adult daughter is the Holy Grail of Fundie Motherhood and Jill is desperate to hit that goal.
  11. It’s been reported that the uncle and his husband lived on a very modest income, but I wonder how accurate that is. Is it possible that they were actually well off? I’m wondering because the only reason I can imagine Jim Bob getting involved to this extent would be if he smelled money.
  12. I cannot wrap my head around the idea that there are nearly 10,000 people who care enough about her and her kid to follow her online vaporings. I aklways figure that if she says something particularly snarkworthy, it'll turn up on here. My sincere thanks to those who keep tabs on her so the rest of us don't have to.
  13. I’ll bet that when Jill and David dine alone at the “good” Olive Garden, they always order dessert (in David’s case, probably more than one). But waste money on expensive desserts for their children? When the kids should consider themselves lucky to split a Burger King shake? Never! By the way, I’ve always wondered just what makes one particular Olive Garden the “good” one. They all look alike to me.
  14. I wonder if Michelle bitterly regrets making that robocall, since it inadvertently led to her family’s downfall, or if she’s too delusional to put two and two together.
  15. If confronted, Jill would probably claim that the birthday "cakes" made out of Little Debbies are a "family tradition" and that the kids would be disappointed if they didn't get one.
  16. "Of all days, today I miss you most"..."you are so far"..."I want you near". Doesn't this sound like a poem originally written to a father who has passed away? How does this apply to Timothy, whose father is always parked in his armchair watching the map? Maybe it means that Tim misses David when he's off with Mahmo on one of their constant vacations?
  17. In the world according to Bill Gothard, the only way they should “help” was by talking the prospective parents into forgetting the whole thing. IBLP is against adoption because the child would be carrying the “sins” of the biological parents. Some of the married Duggar kids would occasionally mention the possibility of adopting (mainly to get attention), but they’d never go through with it.
  18. My guess is that Michelle has been totally broken by Josh's conviction and imprisonment and that she's now just a shadow of the woman who ruled her family with a rod of iron (and I'm convinced that it was she, rather than Jim Bob, who always laid down the law behind closed doors). I think her entire sense of identity was wrapped up in her public image as the perfect Gothard wife and mother and the acclaim she received as a TV star and Fundie royalty. When that was shattered, there was nothing left for her to fall back on. I also think that Josh is one of the few of her children that she genuinely loves. She was able to survive the molestation and Ashley Madison scandals because he was still free and safe within the family compound. But the daily thought of him in prison must have ner consumed with anguish. I think she spends her days living in the past and not caring much about anything or anyone around her.
  19. In addition, they were both fond of teasing their followers by dropping broad hints that they knew all kinds of deep, dark secrets about life with the Duggars that they would reveal when the time was right. Then Derick would claim that he was saving it all for a book he was supposedly writing and Amy would claim that her hands were tied by an NDA that Jim Bob made her sign.
  20. If she was approached by the producers, they probably quickly realized that she had no real information or insights that would be useful to them and decided to pass on her.
  21. One of the biggest selling points of the Gothard cult was telling ordinary, insignificant men that IBLP would elevate them to near God-like status. No matter how unsuccessful they had been in the real world, they would rule as kings at home. Their wives would give them endless fawning attention and deference and their kids would instatntly obey their slightest command. For insecure dweebs like JB and Derick (or for men with a hidden mean streak like Jim Holt), this was irrestible stuff.
  22. I love the idea of Dave secretly reading our comments about Jill and cackling in glee.
  23. I don’t wish anything bad on anybody, but they’re really pushing their luck. Sooner or later it’s going to catch up with one of them.
