  1. Today, our affiliate showing Jeopardy messed up and started playing a rerun of The Tournament of Champions . I started coming here to see what was going on and they cut away to commercial and went to the right episode
  2. I got Winston Churchill for FJ . He was only five years older than Albert Einstein, so they were close in age. For the question ° What is belching?" I wondered if burping would have been accepted as well
  3. Coach Gary Gaines ,the real life coach from the FNL movie , where he was potrayed by Billy Bob Thorton , passed away yesterday at the age of 73. .https://www.foxnews.com/sports/gary-gaines-texas-high-school-football-coach-depicted-friday-night-lights-dead.amp
  4. Our station, located a few hours away in North Carolina, interrupted the show twice tonight for weather alerts. The first lasted for nine minutes, missing most of the first round. The second one went for over twenty minutes, as we missed the end of Double Jeopardy and all of Final Jeopardy. I am thankful for sites like this where I can see who won.
  5. Alison Arngrim addresses this topic in a Walnut Grove podcast interview in October 2019. She talks about how in real life the Ingalls family only lived in Walnut Grove for a couple of years and moved on. She says they settled in De Smet, South Dakota and lived there for years. She also says Laura created some fiction as Nellie and her family were here in the books. She says in real life it was Genevieve Masters and Stella Gilbert, but Laura changed it to Nellie as she received many letters asking for more stories about Nellie. Alison talks about how since the Ingalls family left Walnut Grove for South Dakota that the show decided to follow the books and real life as well. They were going to South Dakota on the show and make it permanent. They filmed on the Western Street set that was in several TV shows and movies, like Bonanza. They had the Olesen family and the Garvey family come along for some familiarity. But the episodes were not popular when they aired. The viewers missed the familiar sets and locations with the beloved town. And they missed characters like Dr. Baker and Rev. Alden. They could not accept the changes and did not like the Ingalls living in the big city. So the show made the decision to return to Walnut Grove since the viewers liked it a lot better and were used to it. ETA: In her book, Karen Grassle says they moved to Mankato, not Winoka.
  6. Does anyone listen to the Walnut Grove Cast or a member of the Facebook group on it ? A man named Mark Phillip does the podcast and recaps episodes with other people. This week's episode is Author, Author. This week's guest host is Matilda Smith-Thompson. Near the beginning, she talks about the old boards on TWOP and the message boards and what it was about. She mentions the episode was called Ma's Ma is a little stiff from the trip.
  7. Yahoo had a an article talking about the show today with a huge spoiler, so I was spoiled. I too thought Manning deserved a BMS since he played so much of his career with his brother being active as well.
  8. Thanks Saber5055. I appreciate the info.
  9. In honor of the story with seeing celebrities on airplanes, I have a story but I cannot remember it because I was a baby. In 1978, my parents and I were flying and had a holdover in Chicago. The real Colonel Sanders came over and held me.
  10. I was wondering if they would accept The Sister Act when technically it was just Sister Act.
  11. I am so very thankful and grateful for this autograph I got in the mail a few years ago. He was a true television legend that will be missed by millions. I have many good memories of watching the show with my grandparents, parents, and just watching over the years.
  12. During the McCarthy question , it seemed like Alex was trying to do an imitation of Colonel Sanders . ETA : or maybe Foghorn Leghorn .
  13. I knew Elizabeth Hassleback had to be part of the Survivor catergory. I was surprised Bill and Ted was a TS.
  14. I think a couple of them missed the seven words on the one question about the president. One guessed Harrison and another Adams.
  15. When Alex Trebek said Jennifer was getting closer to the top ten in two catergories, I knew that he had jinxed her. I too was sad Judy Blume was a TS. I once played Lurvy in a community theatre performance of Charlotte's Web ( with a young Gilland Jones as Charlotte ) so I knew that book right away.
  16. I thought Dave looked like a famous actor, but am not sure which one. I work at a gym, and pickleball is very popular, so I knew it right away. I grew up in Augusta, Ga for sixteen years, so I loved seeing it on Jeopardy.
  17. We have been talking of James and Jeopardy at work. Yesterday, someone talked of his strategy on going for the higher up questions first to get the DD's. I said it would be funny if it was the first question so all he could do was wager $1,000. I thought it was ironic it actually happened last night.
  18. I went to high school with Katy Mixon for a year in Florida, so I loved it when she mentioned both high school and Florida at the end. Seeing Thomas Lennon always makes me think of Joey's hand twin on the Vegas episodes of Friends .
  19. Tonight, I was curious if The Family Guy would be accepted. Last night, as soon as I saw TV series finales, I knew M*A*S*H had to be in there somewhere.
  20. Has anyone seen the last farewell on Amazon video? I watched it last night but it lowers the volume for the final scene during Onward Christian Soldiers. I assume because it's a Christian song? Alegtoststandon , the actress in that episode who got locked in the ice box was Melora Hardin, who played Jan on the Office.
  21. Earlier today, I looked up info on Mount Rushmore because I always found it interesting that the husband of Carrie Ingalls helped name it. I read a lot on Wikipedia, so based on the dates on FJ, I got it right away . It was pretty cool I was reading the article the same day it was a FJ.
  22. I am a member of the James Best fan club on Facebook, and some members are part of the stagecoach west club, a joke based on a short lived tv show he made a couple of guest appearances on. It made me think of you guys. Sorry I have not posted in awhile. I went to look at the old Stagecoach board for good memories, and saw it is gone. I have AA's book on my kindle. Great interesting book.
  23. Mmecorday, I saw your post from January 5th. This came up on the old nitpickers guide. To be fair to the show, this can be explained. If Halfpint wrote a letter to Prisspot in regular English, Mary could not read it. Adam would have to read it to her, and it would lose its privacy. But if Laura wrote in Braille, Mary could read it by herself, and it could stay private between the two sisters . Here is the link to the nitpickers guide.
  24. I couldn't believe no one knew Laurie Metcalf, and they even had a photo. She was also Andy's mother on Toy Story. I too said Social Security for FJ
  25. Our ABC shown here is out of Asheville, NC, and the first half of the show was pre empted due to coverage of Billy Graham's death. It started at Double Jeopardy. A couple of days late, but on Monday , I was thinking of fun things to do with my nieces and nephews, and thought of doing the alphabet backwards . I remember a contestant on Jeopardy did it once, and lo and behold , Rob did it that night. Eta: I do agree with y'all it was not necessary for the show that night or that special. All the kids are ten and younger. I don't mind Rob.
