  1. Adding my two cents here from Jersey - all of our librarians ended up being “moved” into different positions around the school the year before my oldest started Kindergarten in 2019. Many of the books in the library are still there and it seems as if it’s a bit of a free-for-all because my daughter used to come home with old library books all the time.
  2. I completely agree. I loved Barbie (my 10 year old has seen it 10 times so I have been forced to see it multiple times) and when I noticed Margot Robbie did not get a nomination, I kind of shrugged. It was a good performance certainly, but really it wasn’t so amazing that it is a travesty that she was not nominated. Social media wants me to feel like Ryan Gosling being nominated was basically a treatise on what the whole Barbie movie was about and I’m sorry, but I’m not going to rail on Ryan Gosling or the Academy about it. You are so right that this sort of discourse really serves to sully whatever kind of happiness America Ferrera must have felt at this nomination because we need to be angry that Margot Robbie didn’t. When I saw the nominations my first thought was not where is Margot Robbie, but pure happiness for America Ferrera getting her flowers!
  3. Exactly what I was saying. Monica can be awful and toxic and her mother can be abusive as shit…both things can be true….
  4. I don’t know why it didn’t click for me at the time, but my then 9 year old nephew had the opportunity to tap with Maurice Hines in the last show he did (Tappin’ Thru Life). I got to meet him when I attended one of the performances at the Delaware Theater Company and a nicer man you could not meet. He was so very sweet to my nephew.
  5. Considering the rumors going around about Simon, it wouldn’t surprise me if he was complicit in all of this. Tons of blind items about what a POS he is too…not really surprising though
  6. Thank you for this! This was a lovely In Memorium. I had no idea about Marilyn Lovell so that hit kind of hard…
  7. From Uncle Buck (full of great insults), but one I often quote is Tia to her mother in the beginning after she has brought home Chinese food ”What a lovely dinner, Mother, how do you find the time” A voice absolutely dripping in sarcasm…just perfect
  8. Just watched it. Definitely a good movie, though a little meandering for my taste. By the end, I was all in though. I love Jodie Foster and she did NOT disappoint. I agree with all the praise here - her performance was just effortless. I hope she can score an Oscar nod for this.
  9. Team Rob and Corey all the way. I love them so very much! Like all three teams, but I am definitely rooting most heavily for Rob and Corey. And yes, totally shipping Corey and Irish Dance Instructor. They could do some Irish Riverdancing at their wedding 😜
  10. I’m no fan of Anna Leigh (at all), but in fairness to her she did mention several times in this leg how beautiful it was.
  11. To his detriment, Paul seemed suspicious of everyone BUT Alex. If she was dickmatized, she clearly had him clitmatized 😂 In all seriousness, he clearly thought he had her on lock… The real crime of this season was the underutilization of Tig Notaro! Well don’t they have some things over on him to use as leverage? I could be wrong but I thought they did…
  12. I mean, MMV but I think he originally did it as a calculated maneuver - like the drive he took her on in ep 1, but I think post Coney Island and interview, I think he did develop feelings for her. I think he is truly Machiavellian which makes him a really fascinating character. I know folks on Reddit (and other places), see him as sociopathic, but based on things I have read from Leder, I think he does have genuine feelings for Alex. I just doubt when push comes to shove if he would prioritize her above money and business arrangements. That being said, some have said she’s dickmatized and I think she definitely is, but I have been watching the scene where she tells him she is in and she just looks like she has her doubts about him. Who knows though
  13. Yeah, as some have said, my dislike of Anna Leigh has much to do with how she treats her father and then how she whines about people not lying down and letting them win every leg of the race. I do think it’s telling though how they are viewed by the other teams. If I had to guess, I would say AL and Steve and Robbin and Chelsea are the two teams who are the least well liked. Which is kind of how I view them, so I get it.
  14. This has got to be a sneak peek (so to speak) for the last episode. I don’t remember anything like that from E9. The tears…real? Put on?
  15. She claimed to love Rob…such bullshit. Anyone who loved someone couldn’t do what she did. What she liked is having someone depend on her…she just used and abused him, just like Farian. Ugh that press conference made me so angry. Those poor kids. The definition of throwing them to the wolves…the one bright spot was that guy from the audience for sure!
  16. Exactly. I could not feel too bad for Ingrid either. She wants me to feel bad for her when she found Rob dead but she seems to forget that she has his blood on her hands too. She wasn’t innocent in this. The fact that Frank Farian did this three separate times and each time got away with it unscathed is absolutely disgusting. His wreath on Rob’s grave disgusted me. I’ll be honest, seeing Fab sing Blame it On the Rain at the end made me cry. The shame of it all is that Fab did have a decent voice. I don’t know if he would have made it big…but he was talented. And yes, the record execs with the shifty eyes pretending they didn’t know Rob and Fab weren’t credited on the album in Germany. Bullshit
  17. Rob and Corey have officially become one of my favorite teams ever. So positive. Just love them. Team Coda for the win! I do not like AL - the competitiveness bugs but it’s not just that. She seems super fake. I liked Robbin and Chelsea prior to this episode, but this episode they bugged. All the other teams are likable - the fact that I can only find one team to root against I’m happy about.
  18. Can’t figure out whether these attacks of Jake’s are seizures or not…my daughters have seizures, but as I’ve learned seizures can look so different. Did it look like one to me? Kind of…but who can say…without an EEG, who is to know for sure.
  19. Correct. Let’s be honest, all parties probably would have been better off if she had not had children, but again, if she didn’t, she had the right to decide how it would be done. Instead, Justin told her how it was going to be and when she was bleeding in the bathroom and in pain he wouldn’t let her go to the doctor. She has been under someone’s control for so long, I don’t think she knows what it’s like to be completely free. Do I take her book as gospel? Hell no. She is going to want to put herself in the best light possible, without a doubt.
  20. Absolutely. It’s clear in the book that these patterns were created in her family well before she was born…it’s a mess.
  21. 💯 Completely agree. I truly don’t think there has ever been one positive thing I have heard about Justin, but I never truly hated him until after I heard all Britney had to say about him. She truly has no idea who she is…her life has been controlled for her her whole life and now she is in a place to do so but doesn’t have the weapons in her arsenal to do so in a healthy way.
  22. So, despite not being a Britney fan, I caved and pre-ordered her memoir on Audible (love free credits) and first, I have to praise the choice of Michelle Williams as narrator -she’s just perfect. I’m still two hours away from finishing but some thoughts. I vacillate widely from wanting to hug Britney to wanting to shake her because she doesn’t even see herself clearly. Listening to her talk about her kids, you get the feeling that to her, she wanted them to stay babies forever and that when they grew up and got minds of their own, she resented that. I think in the end she is more like her parents than she would like to believe. I truly think that having an abortion was probably the correct choice but how Justin went about it was just horrible…all in the name of good press. But the way she was treated, in general, was just horrendous…I find it just sad now because it’s clear listening to her how much she could benefit from therapy and possibly medication and she doesn’t see it…at least not at this point in the book at least. So far, I have come to one conclusion I don’t see changing - fuck Justin Timberlake
  23. I took it to mean she was touched by his admission. Though it lasted for awhile…that was a strange directorial choice for sure lol
  24. This is years ago, but I just wanted to add to this. I never met her either, but I lived in Delaware and knew several people who skated at the University of Delaware skating rink who knew her and yes, said she was a rude bitch
