  1. This show seems to alternate between episodes I really enjoy, like the last one, and episodes I don't like at all, like this one. I think it must have something to do with the amount of Mary+religion vs. the amount of Missy.
  2. I was surprised that Randall didn't go to the prom after all. When the girl's father looked at Randall and said something like, "I can't do this", I assumed he meant taking pictures of the two of them together. He didn't say his daughter couldn't go or tell Randall to leave, he just walked away. So why not just say goodbye to her mother and go to the prom? Also, WHY would Toby have flushed all his meds down the toilet? Obviously for this plot line, but still. They presumably cost him money, and not taking them was a temporary thing, so why not just put them in a drawer until he was ready to start taking them again? It's not like they were Oxycontin or something and he was addicted to them and wouldn't have the willpower to leave them alone. And just stopping cold turkey like that was a really dumb thing to do anyway.
  3. Add me to those who think Natalie got hosed with that lame song choice. She has a really good rock voice and deserved to continue. Jake is bland and ordinary. I continue to think the deck is stacked against those whose battles come later, when the coaches have used up steals on questionable talent.
  4. Well, THAT was awful. You just can't make good comedy out of a woman dying of an opioid overdose and her grief-stricken family. It all seemed very flat without Roseanne, too. I can't see this lasting.
  5. I'm just not liking this show as much any more. Meemaw is awful, and not in an endearing way. I also found it irritating that George felt obligated to explain himself and the missing cheque to Sheldon. I know Sheldon was doing their taxes, but he's still a child and George is still the parent, and there is just way too much catering to Sheldon and his eccentricities. I think the character of Young Sheldon is better in small doses and I too want to see more of Missy.
  6. I wasn't impressed with "MY DAD IS IN JOURNEY!!!" woman (Something Cain) and I didn't think she deserved to be the last Comeback artist. I kind of liked the guitar-playing guy from (I think) Washington and I was surprised Adam didn't turn for him.
  7. I thought life insurance policies didn't pay out in cases of suicide.

    S01.E01: Pilot

I'm put off by the strong religious overtones to this, which I wasn't expecting. I knew right away that "Set them free" was referring to the kidnapped girls being there and that the dogs were just a red herring. It was kind of ludicrous that they were going over the plane with hazmat suits, but all the passengers had already gone home. They mentioned the girl's apartment being let go, but presumably everything in it, everything she owned, was also gone, and I didn't notice any reaction from her about this. That would bother me a whole lot. There's been a lot of comparisons between this and Lost, but..... no.
  9. Glad to see that despite JLo's best efforts, the smug Karen y Ricardo are finally gone.
  10. I despise precocious and annoying children, so a hearty BUH-BYE to the overrated Cubcakes and their stupid stankfaces. FLIP was fantastic.
  11. Just a lot of gratuitous animal killing. No thanks.
  12. I couldn't believe they said Tessa had the best solo. I wasn't impressed at all, and of the few they bothered to show us, there were several I liked more. Also, I was extremely happy to see that Rachel "Baby" got punted early. She was AWFUL, and had no business even being in the Academy round.
  13. I didn't like that as much as I thought I would. Haven't read the book, so wasn't expecting/watching for certain things. I didn't notice the scars. Hated the town and everyone in it, and I have no sympathy for alcoholics.
  14. I haven't read any of the books, so I'm seeing the TV show with fresh eyes. I like it. I like that they told the story in 2 episodes. When Mrs. Quine was interviewed by Strike's lawyer friend in jail, she was SO stupid and annoying I wouldn't have had a problem if they had just left her there indefinitely. The developing relationship between Strike and Robin is the best thing about the show.
  15. I definitely was. I had very little interest in high school boys. It's interesting reading everyone's different take on the last scene. I was, and still am, 100% convinced that it was all a setup by Fred to solve several problems at once: Show Serena who's boss by taking away the one thing she desires above all else, show June that he is in complete control over her and every aspect of her life, and get rid of Nick, who he is both jealous and suspicious of. It was stupid of June to rub his nose in the fact that he's not the baby's father. There's just no way he suddenly had a change of heart about letting her see her daughter.
  16. I've just discovered this forum, after 4 weeks of watching this show! It's called "C.B. Strike" here on HBO, so I never thought to look under "S". I haven't read any of the books, so the plots and characters are all completely new to me, and I'm liking it, particularly episode 1 of the second case. Robin is a treasure, but I'm guessing that her upcoming marriage isn't going to happen.
  17. Agree with most of the posters here. I couldn't hear the tap dancer tapping at all, so what was the point? And Eva's a one-trick pony. An extremely flexible one-trick pony, but still. I want to see the dancing, not the judges' faces during the performance. It was quite funny to me that they felt it necessary to put subtitles on the screen when the guys from New Zealand were talking. They were speaking English, so.......????
  18. Did anyone else find it annoying that not 2 minutes after we saw the judges supposedly agreeing that only the very best were going to be put through, 3 of the 4 immediately forgot that when faced with the juvenile and lackluster dance stylings of Rachel "everybody calls me Baby" Blanchard? Only tWitch made the correct call on that one.
  19. I don't know how the actor who plays Gunnar (I don't remember his name and can't be bothered to look it up) can stand to play such a pathetic sadsack. Even if Avery didn't exist, Alannah would run in the opposite direction just to get away from his please-love-poor-little-me act. I agree with everyone regarding the lack of interest. The only character who is remotely likeable is Avery. I can only stand Daphne performing when she does a duet with her sister. I don't get all the gushing over her. Her singing is whiny, mumbly, and boring, and she makes everything sound like a dirge.
  20. The latest episode, Heaven's Fall, was really good, I thought. The tempest in a teapot over the previous show 2 weeks ago makes for hilarious reading on IMDB, where Hindus have come en masse, clutching their pearls over how a TV show DARE to portray them as anything but innocent victims who would NEVER commit any crimes, no way, no how, and rating the episode a 1.0, lamenting their inability to give it a 0.
  21. Watching the first audition really made me realize how much I HATE the "flailing angst" style of contemporary. The guy who went second was really good. I too missed all of the last 20 minutes due to a TV station fuckup, which made me realize that CTV isn't carrying this anymore, not even on CTV2.
  22. It's her twin brother, who died as a child. She apparently hasn't yet told anyone the circumstances.
  23. I loved it. Which means that it's sure to be cancelled sooner rather than later. It's visually stunning and there's a creepy mystery underneath it all. Most important, there was nothing to watch on Wednesdays, and now there is.
  24. I couldn't watch this longer than 10 minutes. I had read something about it being based on Rupert Murdoch, but all I could think of was Trump, Trump, Trump. I certainly don't need to waste an hour watching these vile, useless people. They all disgust me.
  25. Couldn't agree more! She's not doing herself any favors with that awful yellow shade.
