She's an experienced soap actress with a relatively large and vocal fanbase. FV has repeatedly made hires with less to offer - she'd land somewhere

Then commit to it, and tell a story about Aiden being gay. Either age up the kid so he can be part of his own story, or choose an older child on the canvas who can do it. Because most of this story felt like Morgan's penguins and fireflies - with the "cluster of things" only occurring offscreen. Franco was a famous artist before he moved to Port Charles and his trial for serial murder and rape took place in Port Charles 5 years ago, right before his stint in the mental hospital. But parents were excluding Aidan from birthday parties because of Aidan's behavior? There is no way that that matters more to the parents of his schoolmates than the fact that Franco lives with him. And Guza did write Sonny's kids as being isolated because of their father. They didn't have friends. Michael made up an imaginary child when he was little, and he was ostracized when he was older. Morgan was sent off to military school under his mother's name. The other parents did care, and their kids did too.

Which may have been part of the problem? Their experiences at that age are several decades out of date at this point. Reality TV is a thing. Other moms are more likely to force their kid to be nice to a child who might end up on a TV baking show than to exclude him because he bakes at age 6(?). The examples were dated stereotypes that already feel regressive and eye-rolly. The story also wasn't about Aiden, it was about the adults around him (mostly Franco!) reacting - and then everyone ignoring the fact that Aiden* was much more likely to be excluded because his stepfather is a SERIAL KILLER who arranged to have an 18-year old boy raped and then made that rape the centerpiece of a public outdoor art installation. I actually think it's a decent idea for a soap to have a child who doesn't have to come out as a teen because he's grown up gay onscreen. But I think this story was a piss poor attempt at that. I also think Spencer makes much more sense in that role - both because of the actor and the fact that Spencer's family would actually care. *and Jake and Cam Tea?

I would love to know whether the writers just forgot about Jason/Sam's kidnapping/sexual assault history with Franco when they came up with this shitty story - or whether they remembered but didn't want to draw attention to it during a storyline where they were also reminding viewers of his past as a SERIAL KILLER (who made crappy art).

There's no way that divorced soccer dad Nik was raised by Stefan, Stavros, Alexis and Helena. And the scenes with DSD Nik & Ava made it look like someone watched the Nik/Claudia scenes and totally missed what made them work
  9. Yeah, McBain v Jason is not a hatred I've tried to compare, I think it works break my brain. The look on Jason's face when John treated him the way a real cop would treat a lowlife criminal warms my heart to this day. i absolutely loved all of his scenes with Anna. And yes, Natalie has always deserved better (Jared Banks > Cristian >>>>>>> McBain). But after all the groveling she had to do to get his stupid, sulky ass back - the return of Cap'n Save a ho irritated the s*** out of me. Because the writing treated it like a fated relationship instead of treating it like John was doing the same shit John always does when he happens upon a grieving woman. The thought of John alternating between fucking the newly minted widow and staring at her in pursed lip disapproval for several years was exhausting. Of course, at the time I assumed she'd be allowed to keep her job and character/character flaws.
  10. dammit, ulkis! You say these things knowing damn well that FV has never seen a bad idea that he didn't instantly fall in love with. Also, if you think anyone other than Silas McFinn is going to be the dark-haired, moody king by birthright - there's a supermarket video you should probably see
  11. I thought his reaction was impressively human. It was shitty but it was also the most relatable and human that he's been... ever? I just wanted more. He's capable of complex emotions even if he's not capable of parsing them - so I wanted an acknowledgement that some of this was rage/shame/guilt at his forced helplessness when his wife was attacked. That's potentially good soap, especially with a character like Jason, who never really loses. I became less interested when I realized that it was just about McBain This is one of the reasons I still have a problem with Franco. Even if those bullshit redemption DVDs were 100% on the level, the physical rape of Michael & Sam weren't even the point for Franco. He wanted their (and Jason's) pain and fear and humiliation after the fact. That's why he turned Michael's rape into a public art installation and Sam's into stalking and baby gifts and graffiti. Franco attacked the two people Jason would've felt most responsible for protecting and possibly fathered the child he was going to be expected to raise and there's no real story aside from, McBain would never... And Brody & Liam beg to differ.

I think Maxie only gets written for so she can carry the likes of RP and LWB/FS
  13. KeMo should've asked him for tips on maintaining two warring fanbases without getting shat on for playing the character in the middle of the triangle.
  14. to be fair to the jasebot, I don't actually think that was in character for Jason*. I think it was primarily due to the fact that RC wanted to do the Sam/McBain relationship and Jason/Sam were too popular to be broken up without a lot of damage. *His reaction was actually too human to be in character, while also being void of the guilt/self-blame that would've at least given color to an OOC reaction
  15. LW always roots for the home team. TB wanted out.
  16. I've always felt like he'll drop everything for Carly's children, not because Carly matters so much to him - but because he doesn't trust her with them. I don't know if that's an idea he subconsciously adopted after her PPD with Michael but I'm sure Carly is aware of it. It's why she always uses her children instead of herself when she wants his attention

Word. If he'd actually been the terrifying badass that she'd feared, it still would've been dumb. The idea that Helena would have been determined to create the child of a stalker/hunchback/lounge singer is....what's the next level after ludicrous?

Or he could've done something about it himself - because protecting Sonny is his actual job. If this had actually been about Alexis & Kristina, or even the fact that Shiloh is a serial rapist, that might've been different. Then Sam's determination to handle it might've made more sense for the character. It would've been gross, thoughtless and painfully dumb - instead of gross, thoughtless, painfully dumb and bizarre. But centering it on Sonny meant that Jason agreed to reenact a situation that traumatized the shit out of both of them so that Sam could protect Sonny from Kristina's non-existent knowledge of her father's crimes. There's so there's so many things wrong with this story that lack of character motivation and ignoring character history aren't even at the top of the list. But still - WTF?

Not only allowed, but apparently they set it up in a way that was grossly reminiscent of the Franco assault. I cannot. It is not ok that Jason is a professional murderer. But there is no way in hell that Jason allows Sam to be drugged and sexually assaulted to protect Sonny from something Kristine might know* instead of just killing Sniloh. I just... Aside from the fact that Sam and Sonny don't have that kind of relationship - What could Kristina possibly know about Sonny's bidness that is worth this stupid grossness?

It doesn't have to be Chase's kid either. If show was interested in telling a story about The Gays it could just let them keep the baby and figure out if they want to reconcile or separate

I would be so, so happy if Jonah's inevitable DNA test said that Michael wasn't the baby's father. Nelle absolutely would have lied about the paternity to get Michael to marry her. And if it's not Michael's baby, she gets to help her friend Brad, maintain the paternity lie and watch Michael mourn. Between Avery and the Morgan replacement, the Corinthos clan does not need another baby

Is Drew any good at "business"? Because I still don't understand what his non-enforcer skills are supposed to be. Julian is on his second successful business. Drew hired someone to run the business that he extorted from Julian

Sonny, Jason and Sam automatically assumed that it was about Sonny. Narcissism works that way. There's also the fact that Alexis killing Keifer isn't a secret. If it were, I think Sam's determination to get the pledge back might make a little more sense. Sam does love Alexis and she's protective of the Davis family*, but there's no logical reason for her to go to these lengths to protect a Sonny secret. And if Sonny/Jason believe it's a Sonny secret, where the hell is their urgency? The character motivation issue isn't the dumbest thing about this story, but it certainly isn't helping. *Which is why I don't mind that she still openly loathes Julian - when she's not openly loathing him in his bar.

Honestly, it's just nice to see her doing something that's not directly Franco related. And Liz being there is the kind of thing soaps are supposed to do. This soap had just done it badly for so long that it feels odd
