  2. Surprised it was Flower, but actress is pregnant in real life so... (so is Rose) maybe she wanted to leave?

My money was on Attic Girl and/or Cholera Boy all along.

Daryl returns to form by causing chaos to peaceful settlements.

Where Daryl goes, chaos follows! Daryl doesn't have a cultural bone in his body. He's all lead with the fists and never explain. e.g., "I didn't kill your brother. The girl did." but noooo. Just destroy everything.

I still think the show could do just fine without Le Grande Face Tattoo Le Baddie. He just feels so tediously unnecessary with everything else we're seeing.

I agree, but Daryl gots to have someone to punch!

I'd rather listen "Le bolero de Ravel" with Bo Derek in mind instead of that rotten orchestra.😆

Hah! I'll take the orchestra over BD any day. At least it was very creative!

I'm still enjoying this spinoff much more than all the others, especially Maggie and Negan in NYC (just kill the bastard already) which was unwatchable.

  4. I like it! I couldn't get on board with Dead City. Love Maggie, can't stand Negan...ugh. At any rate, so far so good. I'm in, unless it goes south.

Shame they had to kill the nuns, but I saw that coming. Everywhere Darryl goes, disaster follows. At least Clement Poésy adds an element of refinement. As the "savior of mankind" Laurent doesn't seem to be terribly bright for his age. "Bless his heart." Hopefully, the nuns taught him how to read! We'll see where all this goes.

I'm disappointed. I wanted to see the picture of the woman and the octopus that baffled George.

A little late, but here you go: This is a real Hokusai woodprint. It came to resurrected fame in Mad Men. It hung in Bert Cooper's office and Peggy carries it out with her when she leaves in the finale. It's called "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife" and it's basically octo-porn (NSFW), so you've been warned! Poor George. 😆

  6. I was pretty disappointed with this. I like Adam as a skater but didn't care for him here. (Not competitive? You're an Olympic Athlete, of course you're competitive! Sheesh.) I seriously felt one of the two women should have won. I'm an advocate of RTFM, but it shouldn't have been the final.

I have a feeling this won't get a second season, but who knows how long the strike will go on? It just devolved into Big Brother on Mars (or Coober Pedy, which translates as "man in a hole"). Since it was all so-called celebs, they should have been competing for their favorite (legit) charities, not just bragging rights.

Betty creates... Glamour Magazine, I think?

Ms magazine. She's Gloria Steinem, a front runner in women's liberation. Far cry from Glamour, sorry. I half expected them to mention working at a Playboy Club for her big expose on sexism. I'm old, I was around then. I bought Ms as long as it ran. We had to fight really, really hard just to use the title Ms. (*coughcough*) Brava Ms. Cooper.

I enjoyed the ending, but I only watched the first 2.5 seasons before I bailed. I definitely wasn't the target audience, even though I read "Archie" comics as a girl in the late 50s early 60s. More a Betty fan than Veronica.

Did pop in to check out the retro 50s episodes, but they weren't really working for me, so dropped it again. Watched the last couple of episodes to get ready for the finale. Funnily, this worked for me since I missed all the bizarre stuff that drove me away. It felt like they borrowed a page from the Six Feet Under finale (one of the very best) and wrapped up all the lives nicely. Dance on, kids, dance on.

p.s. Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead coming out as a quad was hysterical and made total sense, although a little early for the time. 😆 Archie as an "amateur poet" was pretty good, too.

  8. Glad Team Kitty Ears is gone. I was surprised they kept Team Bad Math, due to the 10 missing crepes, but I guess flavor won over a hot mess. Maybe the judges were just tired of their Kawaii schtick. I know I was!

I was surprised T & Fadi won the safety bake: Tarte Tatin is done with sliced apples artfully placed, not chunks. Must've been flavor over presentation again?

At least Cherry & Steph had to finally do an elimination bake.  Wasn't terribly impressive.

My favorite part was when Martina was explaining the weird mess "salad" to the French chefs. I had pretty much the same reaction they did, which was 😨. I guess I was surprised at the lack of sophistication on a cooking show. Although Martina did pick tarte tatin, so...  (Hah. I found the recipe for "fluff salad" from her show on the Food Network: https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/fluff-salad-5499173)  Chacun à son goût!

  9. That Cherry is super bright and great at putting all the clues together! The team bakes well, too. My only problem with this is they could possibly win without doing any of the more difficult bakes. I wish they had set it up like immunity on Top Chef: You can't get kicked off, but you do have to figure out the clues and actually bake. Oh, well.

Agree the right team went home. Those ninnies kept thinking everything they saw had to be used. Not a lot of brains between the two of them.

I'm still enjoying the heck out of this. It's different and fun. Joel seems to be having a good time hosting, too.

Poor, poor pitiful me. The remote for my Roku has stopped working, so I can't watch MM.  Damn.

FYI: You can download a free Roku app for your mobile (Apple or Android) that works as a remote, among other things. Very handy!

It's fun but I'm disappointed they are featuring desserts again.  I don't have a major sweet tooth and have never heard of many of the desserts they make.

Apparently, they will be doing savory things, too. In an interview with Joel McHale, he mentions this. First part of long interview is about the show, latter half is about his other shows.  https://tvline.com/lists/joel-mchale-crime-scene-kitchenseason-2-stargirl-cancelled/crime-scene-kitchen-secrets/

I'm glad this show is back. Fun and silliness for the summer!

  12. Acorn is weird that way. Sometimes you have to drill down in the show (select show, select season, select episode) to find the new eps. Especially before 8 am and that varies, too. I don't know why they're so wonky. BritBox is worse, though.

It seemed to me that Pasta Queen had talking heads way more than anyone else. Or maybe I just noticed her yellow dress. Not sure how she qualified for the show.

Nepo Pasta Baby. Family name/pasta co. Should have been axed long, long ago. Has she ever cooked anything decent? I don't remember. Wasn't even a half-assed capo, just rode on everyone else's coattails like a Nepo. Raw foodie girl (who doesn't really look clean or pulled together) cannot "cook" for her life. Everything turns into a salad. 🙄

Well, gonna meh-watch next week to see how it turns out. I'd rather watch Preston over Corey, but they'll probably choose Corey to really stir the pot. He's good, but not as good as he thinks.

Bet FN doesn't try this again. Wonder how much the Tuscan Villa set them back financially? Maybe they'll do it again with Guy F. (who I think is one of the most disgusting pigs on TV) and it'll be a hit with that crowd. 🤮

  14. With Primetimer awards coming up, how can I vote for anything as "Best Series Mindfuck" other than Joy revealing Mrs Davis began "life" as a Buffalo Wild Wings app!  🤯 Algorithms indeed. Probably a little too edgy for the Emmys, though.

All in all, it ended well. I don't think a 2nd season would go anywhere.

The actress who plays Flower… Does she consider herself a person of color?

South American American: "Sheila is from the South Side of Chicago and went to NYU and Harvard. She is half Chilean/Mapuche and half white American. " (IMDB)

"Sheila is an alum of the CBS Diversity Showcase as a performer in 2018 and as head writer in 2019. She is a former member of the prestigious Groundlings Sunday Company and has produced and starred in a series of videos for Broadway Video’s Latino comedy studio, Mas Mejor, based on her original character ‘Marisol at the Market.’"

Clearly, she is also a lot more intelligent than Flower!

do they have such short time constraints on other cooking competition shows?

Yes. And it's something that is consistently complained about across the board. The "Seasonal" Baking Competitions are the worst, with little twists thrown in at the last minute to muck things up even more.

While I'm enjoying the Tuscan scenery and all, this competition is the worst! I especially hate the lunch/dinner choice with the waiting team getting to watch everything going on and critiquing the food of the currently cooking team. Not really sporting!
