  1. Is anyone watching ID's Serial Thriller; Angel of Decay? I've only seen Part 1 so far, but zzzzzzzzzzz....... Maybe parts 2 & 3 will be better. No matter how many times its been attempted, there has never been a more chilling depiction of Bundy and his crimes than Mark Harmon's in The Deliberate Stranger. JMO
  2. I can't see Josh's actions as anything but repulsive, however, I've been torn on the release of the report. I could care less about Josh's ruined reputation, but I feel terribly for his sisters and his wife and children. I can't believe Jessa and Jill have to defend his heinous actions and tow the family line - in my opinion, thats worse than having people wonder if one of them were molested - by having to defend their brother by deflecting and diminishing, they're being made victims all over again. And most importantly, it reaffirms how f'd up J-Bob and Michelle are as parents. On the other hand, what if someone has knowledge that Josh's "tendencies" have occurred more recently? I'm not actually speculating that may be the case, but it's food for thought. Sometimes there IS no right or left-wing agenda and things just are what they are. J-Bob and Michelle want to play the victim card now that it serves their purposes. But maybe someone was trying to do what he/she felt was morally and ethically right by releasing the redacted report. We really have no proof of motive one way or the other.
  3. Am I the only one who thinks "Josh's" (aka J-Bob's) terms will be that "19 Kids and Counting" stays on the air as "18 Kids and Counting?" Or God forbid, they agree to Josh sitting for an interview in exchange for a new reality show featuring his redemption arc (Josh and his sisters in co-therapy).They put all their eggs (no pun intended!) in the TLC basket, so there's no telling what they'd be willing to do to keep that gravy train rolling.
  4. The more i think about their version of events, the more convinved I am that there's a whole lot more than anyone (except for Josh and his victims) will ever know. For starters, what 14-15 year old boy is going to run to mommy and daddy (not once, not twice, but three or more times) and tearfully confess to fondling/molesting his sisters?! I don't care if Josh thought Satan himself would appear if he didn't fess up, there's NO WAY IN HELL that a teenaged boy is going to tell his mom and dad something so shameful unless he was terrified his victims knew exactly what he was doing (as in NOT SLEEPING) and could tell on him first. No matter how much J-Bob tries to cover for Josh, most people who have raised teenagers know that no kid would voluntarily and repeatedly come forward to his parents and confess the same disgraceful, degenerate behavior unless he knew he was busted anyway. It just doesnt work that way in real life. Nice try, though.
  5. I'm willing to bet my retirement fund that the writers over at L&O SVU are chomping at the bit. Every time the Duggars talk, they provide more fodder for what will probably become the highest rated "ripped from the headlines" episode of all time.
  6. First things first... I'm definitely a "to each his own" kind of gal. People should be allowed to live their lives as they choose as long as they aren't harming others. BUT... I'm having a really hard time with Bruce/Caitlyn - not because of his transitioning, but because of what her chosen "look" says about women and ageism. He (she) hasn't had to endure years of periods, hormonal mood swings, stretch marks, baby pooch, fear of estrogen- based cancers, years of Pap tests and mammograms and Menopause. She's also never experienced (and never will) the miracle of carrying and bringing life into the world. Instead, he gets to "become" this fabulously sexy 65-year old woman, primarily because he had the means to afford the best plastic surgeons and make-up artists and clothes and physical trainers. In the meantime, most of us REAL women of a certain age are dealing with saggy tits, dry, crepey skin, hair loss and the beginnings of turkey neck. If Bruce/Caitlyn's main motivation was to identify as a woman, wouldn't she be more interested in experiencing what womanhood at 65 really feels/looks like? I know I sound bitter. I don't mean to. It's just I don't think Bruce can experience womanhood just by changing his looks, buying an awesome body and changing his name to Caitlyn. There's so much more to being a woman... And by 65, we've earned the right to be defined by so much more than just our looks. I understand his wanting to be attractive -we all do. But by being shaped and molded into a totally unrealistic version of what most 65-year old women look like, I feel he/she is devaluing women his/her age who have lived their entire lives as women and have all the battle scars and worry lines and saggy upper arms and the belly pooch to show for it. However, I do wish her well and hope that she is allowed to enjoy her new life without constant media attention. Oh wait....
  7. I think he played "Sunshine" in the movie "Remember the Titans." (With Denzel Washington at his sexiest best!)
  8. I remember thinking she was very pretty and statuesque but awkward as hell. She always seemed to be flailing around trying to figure out what to do with her hands and/or body. I wonder what seasons 5 & 6 would have been like with a stellar actress in that role (hell, even a competent actress). Just my opinion....
  9. Annnnd.... (Suddenly I have a lot to say..LOL), for those viewers who got tired of the trajectory of Don's story (continuing to make the same bad decisions over and over and constantly needing to feed ego beast with new and different women and career drama), that's exactly the story of my Dad's life. He was on his fourth wife when he died at 71 of congestive heart failure (years of smoking, which he started in the Marines as an 18-year old, led to a quadruple bypass, a pacemaker and a defibrillator by the time he was 55). Like Dick Whitman, he had an extremely tragic childhood (losing both of his parents at the hand of his father), and suffered with those demons his whole life. But no matter what, he was ALWAYS there for my brother and I when we needed him. No matter where he lived, no matter how old my bother and/or I were, if we called and asked him for help, he'd hop on the next plane to wherever we were. That's why I want so desperately for Don to realize that the unconditional love he's always seeking is right there for the taking with his kids. If he steps up and becomes the father the kids need (and that he never had), he'll be able to live the rest of his life with few regrets.
  10. "The Good News" is one of my favorite episodes. Lane is so funny and happy (which makes his ultimate demise so much more tragic). And I love the nuanced scenes between Don and Anna. I think this was one of Jon Hamm's strongest episodes.
  11. I haven't moved from the couch since the marathon started (except when nature has called). Unfortunately, I fell asleep last night before the episode where Peggy tells Pete about their baby. Thank God for Netflix. I wanted to thank all of you for your insightful comments. Like many of you, I've watched MM since the first episode and so much of Sally's story mirrors my own... My dad was Don Draper and my mom was a Betty. It took me years to understand how being married to a man like that can change a woman. I know my mom wanted to be a better mother, but it's hard when you're too busy trying to figure out ways to keep your wandering husband satisfied (which is impossible). Binge watching the series has given me a whole new perspective and some different opinions. I used to think January Jones was the weak acting link. But I now see her as playing the role perfectly. I've also never given enough credit to the actress who played Anna Draper. She was only in a handful of episodes but Melinda Page Harrison's portrayal of this compassionate salt-of-the-earth character was beautiful. Unfortunately, the Megan era is fast approaching and I know I won't change my opinion of Jessica Pare's acting. I've really loved several of this final season's episodes (the ones without the human Eeyore), but I can honestly say the Megan heavy seasons were my least favorite (although there were some excellent episodes throughout). Is someone going to ask the mods to create a thread called "The Crying Room" for those of us who will undobtedly be in mourning after the final episode airs?
  12. I'm right there with you. The singing competitions should just retire "A Song For You" because NO ONE will EVER sing it like Elliot Yamin. Bar none, one of the best live vocal performances I've ever heard. *Sigh* I still can't believe he didn't win that season.
  13. My all-time favorite Chopped cheftastant is going to be on this year's Chopped All Stars. You GO Madison!
  14. Loved everything about the show. My hubby and I binge-watched it in two days and were so bummed when we reached the end. Can't wait for season two (although I can't imagine how they'll fill the void left by Danny's death...I love, love. love Kyle Chander but Ben Mendelsohn was a revelation).
  15. No love for Brian? I thought he did a beautiful job with his song (and it made me think of Family Ties, too).
