  1. " (Prediction: I watch the season from start to finish at least three more times before it returns.)" Seconded! "It's got the same sort of "this is life" vibe as Louie yet isn't so self-important." Agreed. Louis mostly felt like medicine to me most of the time. I really love his standup (mostly), so it seemed like I should love this thing that so many folks seemed to agree was this giant step forward for a whole genre of television. Insofar as it paved the way for this much better show, I guess they were right.
  2. Will I watch this show if it doesn't just show up in my Hulu feed every week? Hmmm.
  3. "Why are there so many damned commercial breaks during this show? It seems to be 41 minutes of drama, 19 minutes of commercial." Because that is the exact ratio that AMC one hour shows stick to. The best you can hope for is 43/17 on a commercial network.
  4. I actually found the movie fairly compelling. I would also add Up In the Air (though not a Soderbergh joint) to that list of films concerning the transactional nature of human behavior, and I thought they all had interesting things to say. This review does not make me want to run to watch this show, which is kind of a bummer.
  5. "Does she really want to jeopardize her new job over "jobs" from/to/with Trey?" There is a reason Tara Ariano does words for a living. I don't want to jump on the "Hilary is no fun thing," but I did feel like her cameo last week was kind of forced. This Black Griffin cameo, though... Amazing!
  6. I wanted to point that one out as well. I can see Sarah's point that the jury debate was kind of silly, but that visit from the old Ironic Seque Fairy made it worthwhile. Not only is O.J. talking about Seinfeld and thus having his blackness undercut, but he also seems to be having a much better time in prison than the jury is having in their fancy hotel. Great stuff.
  7. I was also wondering about that "fucks like a dolphin" line. Very strange. Although, I might like it if that became the show's gimic. Just some random new idiom for describing talented whores. Seems like that kind of thing would fit in just fine in this ridiculous universe.
  8. "and GOD, is Kathryn Hahn just the best thing ever or what" The. Best. Thing. Between her and Kether Donahue, December has seen this fella crushing like crazy. (Also, this fella could benefit from a tip on that boxing the quotes thing ya'll do.)
  9. "And I must say, I do not like Judith Light in the mother role. Her acting feels forced and stereotypical to me. Ugh." I wish I could agree with you, but I've had several moments where I've exclaimed to myself, "Oh my god! Shelly Pfefferman is my mother."
