  1. My favourite episode yet! Daemon really embracing his inner asshole by killing his wife and then later on, lowkey bragging about it to her family while also plotting to steal her money. Viserys and his Hand (can't remember this guy's name, sorry) looking like they wanted to be anywhere but there but also wanting to soak up that gossip. Totally believable reaction. Alicent's entrance in that green dress was magnificent. There's declaring war and then there's declaring war! The way she was looking at Rhaenrya the rest of the wedding was chilling. Poor girl doesn't even realise yet the knifes are coming out for her. Whenever there's a royal wedding, there's always some murder damn. We even have another Joffrey who fucked around and found out. What is dead may never die indeed. Criston turned that dude' face to pulp. Looks like a timeskip with a bunch of new characters next week. Really looking forward to it.
  2. The point is that no, living a transitory life with no guarantee of safety with people out there ready and willing to kill you is not going to create a society conducive to kindness towards the less advantaged.
  3. This is just semantics to me. Yes, Morgoth started the whole thing, but it was pigheaded Feanor who escalated it to a level where frankly, it did not need to go. If someone said Feanor started the war, I wouldn't side-eye it. Why would there need to be a guard right next to his cell? Not sure the Harfoots were ever portrayed as purely sympathetic. It's clear that they let their fear blind and limit them to all the other things they can be doing. Ungoliant was working for Morgoth, so... Clearly Silmarrion stuff they can't use. Never thought of it this way before, but after everything she and her family have been through, wouldn't surprise if they're basically gaslighting themselves just to stay sane.
  4. Great episode. Daemon really coming across as that lad who looks super fit when you see him across the bar but after hanging out for a while in the light of day you realize he's actually a loser. Regardless of whatever reason he had for not laying with his niece, taking advantage of Viserys finding out what happened and selling her out so he could get himself on the Iron Throne was a dick move and I'm glad Viserys realized this and got rid of him. I also liked the way how they portrayed Rhaenya picking up some bad habits from her uncle, such as manipulating people you have power over in sexual relationships. Ser Criston is in troubled waters now, he needs watch himself. The contrast between Rhaenya's sexual escapades and Alicent's deeply depressing dead fish sex life was jarring. That poor girl has a tough life. I was delighted to see Otto fucking himself over. Man was in such an almighty rush to screw over a teenage girl that he forgot to use a catspaw like any civilized person. Kudos to our young Lord Blackwood. He didn't play around with that Bracken guy! There's also the fact that while incest and polygamy might be allowed technically, that doesn't mean there aren't opponents willing to stir up trouble over it, which the realm can ill afford right now.
  5. Here I was last week thinking Otto was scum for pimping out his daughter but this week we have Corys sending out his 12 year old daughter while he watches on like she out having fun at the park. 🤮 Viserys was just so done with the whole thing when she told him he'd have to sleep with her at 14. Daemon continued his reign as the uncontested king of savages by stealing his dead nephew's dragon egg and leaving behind a note taunting his brother with it. I really liked seeing Rhaenrya call out his bluff. That's the kind of iron she'll need in the future. Emma D' Arcy doing some phenomenal acting. The way she just turned her head when she heard her father would be marrying her best friend was just *chef's kiss* So much emotion in there! Correction: Milly Arlock, not Emma D' Arcy
  6. Kinda felt like I was watching season 1 GoT again, only bloodier and edgier. A fine first episode. Switching scenes between the pointless butchery of the tournament and the Queen experiencing real, legitimate pain and yes violence inflicted on her body against her will was somewhat heavy handed, but it got the point across. I confess to chuckling when Lady Velaryon was deriding the knights as summer boys whilst someone's head was getting imploded on the field. Urk. Matt Smith does an excellent job playing Daemon as a complete and total asshat. he was really one of the highlights of the episode. You can see how people gravitate towards this man while also acknowledging what an awful person he is. "Heir for a day" indeed. Man fucked around and found out. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Rhaenya. The actress is giving me major Arya vibes but the series is already taking her a totally different direction from that character, which is quite interesting. Well done, HBO.
  7. This is basically exactly waht happened with the Marvel Netflix shows and Agents of SHIELD. They're just retconning stuff so it's no longer part of the shared universe. Part of me is wondering if the showrunners had heard about the possibility of the sale earlier than everyone else, thus the pretending like it wasn't in the Arrowverse since early on.
  8. Even the folks in the audience were side-eying her, that was the most hilarious part. I guess they just like musicals? I mean, there must be some fans who like it?
  9. It's true that Claire didn't seem to know the sleep medication made people suggestible (you'd think someone would have mentioned this is some company document or maybe Claire just took it out without looking, which is in itself another issue) but once she confirmed this she went straight to asking how she could become CEO so that was surely on her mind.
  10. Much improved from the pilot, this show is really fulfilling it's potential now. The whole Darby/Swift thing was giving me some real deja vu, they really hit the mark with the Darbys as the church friends who come over for Sunday dinner and your parents seem to like them, but as soon as they leave, your parents start kvetching. Tom and Zenzi's friendship was much better portrayed this episode, now I can really feel why these two have maintained a close personal relationship throughout the years beyond just their parents running in the same circles. I really, really liked Tom stance that not all secrets are bad. This is so refreshing coming from the CW where oversharing is seen as a virtue and keeping secrets is equivalent to murder. Zenzi had a point too about needing to be looped in if necessary, but there are limits to that! I'm glad the show acknowledged this, if even slightly. Yeah, this part was wonderful. You can really see how Tom has developed a certain persona just to cope and how it shapes how he interacts with his family, friends, even his business. The way Tom's mom reacted was very realistic too. My own mom would have reacted just the same. People can treat you like a dog in your own house, but be polite! To be fair, apparently Guion Bluford is a personal hero of his dad.
  11. A rough and filled to the brim primere, but I liked it. It has potential. Seeing Tom and friends going on a fetch quest while dodging the Roadback (I figured this show would involve them) should be fun. Pretty sure the footage was from the telescope in Tom's observatory. People said the same about Nancy Drew and I find that to be an excellent show even as it does its own thing.
  12. Again, I'll have to disagree with you on this. A family's reputation is a big deal, especially in a small town. Clark at least certainly thought so, given how he mentioned Jonathan had "misrepresented this family". If Jon had told the truth from the start, they might not have found out about the juicing.
  13. I'll have to strongly disagree with this. Jonathan lying about the incident with Candice did harm his family, particularly their reputation in town and caused not insignificant problems for the, not to mention the football team for example. Jonathan and Clark's lies both hurt their family, the only difference is who the lie ended up protecting in turn.
  14. Pretty sure Bizarro Kent family filled him in.
  15. Hmm, Tabitha went back in time to figure out how to stop the Big Bad from destroying the world but it turns out Jughead may have to die to make it happen? It's a total coincidence this episode came out just before Multiverse of Madness, I'm sure. Anyway, this was a surprisingly down to earth episode of Riverdale. I was very proud of Reggie this trip, I've thought that his relationship with Veronica was shaping up too much like Hiram's hijinks and I'm glad he figured that out and decided to try and be better. If this is really the last we'll see of Penelope, going away to a convent in the Himalayas is kinda on brand for her. I'm glad Cheryl got to air her grievances at least. TBF, there is some information she just might not have been able to get. Watching this episode, I was fairly sure that they're gonna go back to Choni. Fangs' bad behavior is a sure sign that they're gonna break up to me. Remember Chad and Glen?
  16. Should have known the black flame would be Ronnie when they played the Firestorm theme. I do like that they finally brought up Carla's ice powers and the fact that Frost is so reckless because she was created to protect Caitlin; that seems like the sort of stuff she needs to have a long conversation with someone about. I laughed when Caitlin, who was so against Frost's plan to sacrifice herself, suddenly was cool with it when there was a possibility her mom would get killed instead. That thing Sue pulled to get the No Order restriction lifted was...yeah, I love Sue, but I felt it for that poor clerk.
  17. Couple weeks ago, I was joking about Archie and friends turning into the Avengers, turns out I had the wrong MCU franchise. They're actually the Defenders! Archie is Luke Cage, Jughead is Matt Murdock, Percival is Killgrave and Betty is...Iron Fist maybe, with the auras? I'm wondering now if this was deliberate or just a coincidence. It was so nice to see Archie and Jughead talking and working together again, even if Archie kind of wanted to beat him up at first. The tiny homes thing may have been ripped from the headlines, but it was such a nice thing to see them doing together. It almost felt like old times in a good way. Unfortunately, the show also reminded us of old times in a bad way with Kevin. First, we only see him when he gets attacked and then he ends up getting manipulated by the creepy guy again? Really, writers, some new material please. If I was Mark Consuelos watching today's episode, I'd be howling. Hiram is gone but forgotten. Veronica's whole good CEO shtick only lasted so long, huh? First she puts up Daddykin's picture as a reminder what not to be like and reverts to type near instantly? I wonder how long it is before she's asking his image for advice on the lastest caper? Reggie was almost refreshing with how his only interest was just scamming and side hustling. Never change, Reggie! Speaking of never changing, after a lot of episodes being decent, Alice reminded me why she was so annoying today. All in all, a nice episode of the show.
  18. To be fair, Barry normally confines his activities to Central City, unlike Clark. I could understand why someone living in another city might not have heard of him, depending on how much they watch the news.
  19. He can put in for a transfer, though that probably would take a while. Do military officers sign contracts that forbid them from quitting?
  20. She got addicted to her own hype and viewed any conflicting message as a personal attack on her own self mythology. She went from 'fake it till you make it' to just "fake it", which is the whole problem with that saying. At some point, you have to show the proof in the pudding and when you keep faking it, it's hard to actually make it, because faking it is surprise, surprise, not very conducive to getting actual work done.
  21. After seeing the scale of the operation this episode, I don't doubt at all that Candice was just part of that dude's side hustle from skimming off the top. I did get a chuckle out of the scene where Candice showed up. The stink-eye Lois was giving her was legendary! This so much. I don't need a crossover (though I certainly wouldn't mind one), but they can at least write a plot that doesn't treat the idea of the shared universe like it doesn't exit. Would any of the folks in Smallville Lois lied to really go that far to check it out? The remote assignment thing might actually draw more attention as people would wonder why he went away so abruptly, especially when his kid was just accused of drug dealing not long ago. At least the Metropolis thing, no one would really think about him being there, they would simply assume e was working long hours over there and they didn't see him when he was back.
  22. That line got me too! It feels like they realized Dee's actor has got some comic abilities after that episode with Annabel and decided to work that in more. I approve.
  23. I thought Barry already knew about the time sickness, it was just her losing time recently she didn't tell him about? It is dumb, but people in real life have been known to keep potential medial stuff secret until they have concrete evidence so as not to worry them. Same.
