  1. Both. Fall is a huge tourism season for fall colors. It’s nearly impossible to book a hotel room up north for this weekend. And it’s people getting outdoors before the winter sets in. Also, the way fall goes here, color change lasts the entire month of October. The UP and the northern tip of the lower peninsula is what’s changing right now. Where I live won’t start change until the end of the month. And there are far more trees up north than down south.
  2. Longtime lurker, I’m glad LWT finally did a PFAs story. I live in Western Michigan, and our local news has been reporting on the Wolverine Worldwide contamination for five+ years at this point. Based on everything we’ve been told about PFAs, I have to believe that a lot of areas aren’t thoroughly testing for it. Michigan’s been testing now for five-ish years and the first time I went to EWG.org, it looked like this was a Michigan-only problem. So while it’s sad to see, it’s good that other states (New Jersey, North Carolina, Colorado and Massachusetts) are testing for it as well. The worst contaminated places in our state are the Wolverine Worldwide area (where they just dumped the old scotchguarding chemicals in the 1950s and 1960s - which there was no law against at the time), a former Air Force Base in northern Michigan and a current Army National Guard Base. We have a seasonal residence near the Guard base and we have to get our well water tested multiple times a year for contaminants, including PFAs. They’ve also found contamination areas near airports (it’s the foam used to put out fires, which is what is used on military bases as well). As the show said, these are forever chemicals, they don’t go away over time. As such, I believe the problem is probably a lot larger than what the map indicates. Here’s a timeline of activities just on the Wolverine Worldwide Case: https://www.mlive.com/news/2019/06/timeline-the-wolverine-world-wide-3m-scotchgard-contamination.html Also fall color tours (no one really calls it leaf peeping here) are huge in Michigan. I’m going north this weekend for that very reason.
  3. Aside from apparently needing to forget S7, I think my biggest pet peeve with the revival is ASP and DP's treatment of thirtysomethings. They even created the "thirtysomething gang," who all live at home and apparently still need their parents to review their resumes. As a resident thirtysomething (between Rory and Logan's ages), it really irks me. The most "thirtysomething" thirtysomethings in the GG universe appear to be Lane and Zach, and Jess - provided he's still not pining for Rory. I'd say Paris too. Paris is flailing in her own Paris way, but not in a way that feels like someone a decade younger would be flailing.
  4. I never watched Gilmore Girls when it aired, I just completed my first viewing in a "getting ready for work" binge from August to October this year. I lurked inside this forum along the way. A few things stuck out to me watching, free from the nostalgia factor: As the series progressed through the seasons, I grew to only tolerate Lorelai and Rory. Given the rise of anti-hero shows, I felt distinct anti-hero vibes from Lorelai. I knew of the disdain for season 7, but didn't feel it. My favorite characters ended up being Logan (for his growth in season 7) and Sookie. I think it was better to watch this show live, and over time. I didn't feel the Luke/Lorelai burn before the season 4 hook up as much. I think it's because I plowed through episodes so quickly. I did plow through all four revival episodes yesterday. I wasn't super excited, because I hadn't waited for years, but I was curious. I'm in the camp that you can't go home again. Hated how they regressed Logan. Disliked the excuses for Sookie not being there (even though I knew she wouldn't be there) and how it appears that no time had passed in eight years, like they'd just been churning, repeating the same motions until Richard's death. Things should have naturally progressed over 8 years more than it did.
  5. You guys are killing me. Karaoke and "Greetings from Paris, Dr. Scorpio." Another YouTube wormhole will commence. October 12, 2011 - "It's her birthday and I'm stealing her for an hour to celebrate. You can deal." Yeah, this was a pretty perfect day for them. February 7, 2012 - "You're going to be OK?" "I'm sorry, you're stuck with me." His glee is so great. Of course Robin "dies" two weeks later. And this isn't a sparkly scene, but damn if this wasn't a great confrontation.
  6. Heatlifer, I almost posted that one. And no KMc here, but this is one of the many reasons Epiphany should have been at yesterday's wedding. Start at 2:00. I remember posting on TWoP about something being in my eye then too. It's the "with Robin gone, I can't even get air" line.
  7. No kidding. Here's Another great Matt/Patrick day with Matt/Patrick banter. http://youtu.be/PAp_4-DvJsc
  8. If I remember properly, they were asked by then Metro Court manager Olivia to treat the mayors mistress on the down low. She ended up dying. Alexis became a suspect for some reason. And Robin wanted to clear Alexis' name.
  9. A couple more. Can you tell I'm a fan of the banter? August 4, 2009 - I trust your instincts too." And the lean in almost kiss is a killer move. August 11, 2009 - "and we almost made it." I dislike Spinelli, but Robin and Patrick's reaction to Spinelli and Maxie's engagement is great. August 19, 2009 - "0ooo, roll play later?" Start at 2:00 and just watch the murder re-enactment. September 4, 2009 - "You throw like a girl, what was that? I happen to be a girl, you like me that way." Patrick taunting people from a dunk tank leads to Patrick in the dunk tank. And finally, Nov. 3, 2011 - "I'm looking at you because you're beautiful." That line plus the video messages, gah.
  10. I started watching GH again when Laura returned in 2006. It was hyped and I was curious as I watched GH with my mom after school from 93-95/96. Got sucked back in to the show because of Scrubs' love declaration, their bantering, their bickering, their sparkle. Plus I definitely had a JT crush for a while. I watched religiously until Robin's "death" and have since only returned twice - Robin's two rescues. My favorite Scrubs runs were Nov 2006 through the Metro Court Crisis, (Yes I even liked the arguing over the couch. And the beyond reason scenes above. Gah!), Aug 2008-real wedding, and post-PPD through Lisa's arrival in 2009. Now some of my favorite scenes (not already shared). December 29, 2006 - "Do you trust me?" "Implicity, yes." October 17, 2008 - "See, isn't this fun?" Yes, naming our child after strippers." December 4, 2008 - "Emma watch this, this is Daddy passing Uncle Matt." "And this is Uncle Matt putting Daddy in the wall." OK, this is for the Patrick/Matt brotherly banter. How the show ultimately wasted that relationship is a shame. June 6, 2009 - "It's like, god, I remember that. That's the woman that I fell in love with. That's...that's Dr. Scorpio."
  11. Longtime lurker of this forum because I love snark and used to contribute at TWoP. Scrubs fan from 2006-Robin's death. Returned briefly in 2013/2014 with Robin. Returned again to see Scrubs off. I even suffered through the Hulu version this time as I no longer subscribe to cable/have a DVR. There's something in my eye after watching today's show. Then I got sucked down a Scrubs YouTube hole, so I'm going to head to the history thread to share favorite scenes. No comments on how the rest of the show....just focusing on the sparkly.
  12. My unpopular opinion is that I have few criticisms for this show. This might be the first show that hit my sense of humor square in the bullseye. I had thought 30 Rock had come the closest, with its rapid-fire wit and girl-crush Tina Fey, or Arrested Development with its layered payoffs and callbacks (broadcast run only) or Friends, which was my teen years fav and featured a character I absolutely adored in Chandler. Nope, I just needed to meet Knope. I thoroughly enjoy genuinely funny sweetness. Who'd have thought my teen crush on the character Chandler Bing would be surpassed by a not-teen crush on Ben Wyatt? While I haven't loved everything: Jamm; the Larry, Terry name change ; or parts of steamroller Leslie, I consider those just minor gripes. I can't even pick a favorite episode, or even two. With the shows listed above, I have a definitive favorite. Every time I try with Parks and Rec, I can only get it to five. And they change. This week they'd probably be Master Plan, Jerry's Painting, the Treaty, Leslie and Ben, and Unity Concert. But then I realize I'm leaving out classics like The Camel, Harvest Festival, Fancy Party, The Fight, the Comeback Kid, Two Parties and The Cones of Dunshire. Ugh. Hello, my name is Fruittree36 and my unpopular opinion is that I have no negative opinion about this show. I'll miss it when it's gone. And it's the only show I watch live and with any regularity, so my TV viewing habits will shift dramatically after Tuesday night.
  13. No, a tweet from Michael Schur (@kentremendous) says since they only did 13 episodes 1 week would only have 1 new epi. This is it. So much in this episode. Jen Barkely (your life is gross, my life is amazing), Lavondrious, Ginuwine, nicey-meany, GARRY!!!, drunk Ben. I'm appreciating this abbreviated, accelerated last season.
  14. A note about the ending from Katims: http://www.ew.com/article/2015/01/29/jason-katims-parenthood-series-finale Joel and Julia's 4th kid is biological. Amber's second is a step-daughter. Aliconehead, you beat me to it. Almost jinx.
  15. I loved this show, and loved to be mad at this show. And I loved every sappy, sentimental moment of the finale. It even produced tears and I'm pretty heartless most of the time. I'll miss it. But let's talk about the real champion of the series, whomever coordinated the music. Absolutely pitch perfect (pun intended).
