  1. I'm not sure why people think Trevor's the one who needed to back down. France, in large part because of immigration, won the World Cup with black players. That somehow is supposed to make France look bad? That's a mockable offense? Are Americans supposed to feel bad about all of the track & field Olympic medals we've won because the sport is dominated by people of African descent? "Africa" and "african" are not insults. There's no reason to be offended by the suggestion that your people come from that particular continent. The human race originated in Africa. Is there a better time to tell a joke about the winners of the World Cup than right after they've won? Trevor never used the word "monkey". Again, why is everyone standing up to Trevor and not the racists?
  2. Drew said in one episode that the market had softened and he’d be lucky to make any profit. I’m guessing that they went in expecting much bigger profits but just got in at the wrong time.
  3. I think it’s fair to assume that his supporters are lost causes. These segments aren’t for them. It’s for everyone to their left, some of whom are confused. I’m not tired of these pieces. They’re funny and they help me understand how they’re thinking. Most of their positions I know but I’ve been utterly perplexed by the space force thing. It’s just as ridiculous and unnecessary as I suspected.
  4. Putting your right hand over your heart during the national anthem is standard, except for soldiers who salute. It's in the US flag code. I'm surprised how many of you don't know this. You should see it everywhere.
  5. The whole thing goes: She's transgendered, Obama's actually gay and they kidnapped Sasha and Malianto use as a cover. Also It's a common insult directed at black women, who are considered by many to be less attractive and more manly than their white or Asian counterparts. It's meant to dehumanize and defeminize her.
  6. I seriously doubt that applies to Joe. He's either a late baby boomer or early Gen X. Plus he didn't seem to care that they'd moved in together. I think it was just more of the same discomfort he felt when Barry and Iris started kissing in front of him. Or it was just the idea that his daughter was asking him for advice on getting pregnant, which is just a weird conversation to have.
  7. There's a bit of a difference between a woman saying a man can "grab her (insert body part here)" than a man saying it. One is consent. The other is assault. If Biden had said what Trump did, then we'd need to worry about holding them to the same standard.
  8. I'm pretty sure Jarvis ends up raising Tony after his parents are killed. That's why Tony named his computer program J.A.R.V.I.S. I don't think that was an issue of him underestimating Dottie but overestimating himself. He believes himself to be deserving of his position or wants to believe it. That's why he keeps either messing up or taking credit he doesn't deserve. Wow! First, Tony's mother is Maria Stark. Second, Whitney Frost is clearly evil. I think we can be sure she's not Tony's mother. I haven't watched AoS this season so I can't talk about whatever's happening there. I'm thinking the zero matter might actually be the infinity stone from "The Dark World". We know it's on Earth somewhere. Isodyne seems to think they accidentally created it but I think they just uncovered it.
  9. Are they actually working overtime to distance themselves from him? I know some of the old-school ones have a problem with him but (for example) I don't see how saying you'd only let Christian refugees in the country is all that far from banning Muslims.
  10. I didn't realize that there were people who actually thought bad of Jon Stewart speech. I mean aside from the folks at Fox News. I was grateful that there was at least one person in the media who actually gets it and used his public platform to say it, even if it wasn't funny.
  11. I did but only because I jumped the gun and Googled Maseo Yamashiro weeks ago. I hope they make Katana/Tatsu at least a recurring character. She's already more interesting than Laurel will ever be. NO! I almost quit watching last season because she somehow managed to be even more irritating than Laurel. If they want to bring anyone back, I'm good with Moira. Or Shado. Or Shado's twin. Or that last mayor they killed. Anyone but Sara.
  12. The only thing that bugged me bout this episode is that when Fisk is taking off Anatoly's head, he's clearly and understandably causing the SUV to rock back in forth but when they cut to the inside of the the SUV, Wesley isn't being rocked around like he should be. At first I thought it was a different car but then you see Wesley get out of that SUV. The mistake kind of took me out of the scene, which is probably a good thing as I get queasy quite easily, but still... Reportedly there's things in her back-story that once revealed will (hopefully) explain some of her decision-making. Something is definitely off with her.
  13. But clearly much happier, which was the one thing I REALLY didn't expect.
  14. You do know that she's a co-founder of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Some 70 years later Simmons on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be gushing over her signature. Her career's not going to get overshadowed. What I do when things like that come up is remind myself that the MCU is an alternate universe. It's very close to but not the same as the world we live in. Unlike DC, Marvel didn't bother about coming up with new cities.
  15. I'm glad Barry moved back in with Joe because it was driving me crazy that Barry didn't seem to live anywhere. The love triangle between Iris/Eddie/Barry is probably there to set up one of the reasons Eddie turns evil. (I'm convinced that he's the Reverse Flash not Wells.)
