  1. Was anyone else waiting for Liz Lemon's middle name, and Dave's sure-to-be-amazing attempt to pronounce it?
  2. You've probably looked it up already (or you don't care!) but Beaver Falls, PA is real (west side of the state, close to the Ohio border, just north of Pittsburgh) and is mostly known for being the hometown of Joe Namath. Or so my dad tells me, every time we drive through it.
  3. The Martin Sheen one--no fault of his--was TERRIBLE. It got the tone all wrong and it sliced away half of the story including the end (for some reason). I'll reserve some hope for this one.
  4. Y-necklaces need to come back. They were cute.
  5. I quite liked the movie, but the TV show kind of lost me when I found out the dad's present is 1996. The original took place in 1965 and 2000, I think, a 35-year difference to this show's 20. There was a very old-school new-school investigation element to the two guys solving the crime. In 1996 they already had the internet, for crying out loud. Cool that they made it a daughter, though.
  6. I can't be the only person who thought the dress Monica lost to blackmail was better than the one she eventually wore, right?
  7. I've never watched this show, though I love Tara's recaps of it. My question is, do you all see much of the little black dog in the second picture? I think he/she might be the real star here.
  8. I listen to the podcast without watching the show. I have watched episodes of it here and there, mostly if someone I really like is on, but it is an HOUR long which is about three times longer than I have the patience for. However, Tara & Joe's gameplay process discussion and celeb judgment is exactly what I'm interested in, and it only takes them about 20 minutes. I do watch the clips on the HGN writeup.
  9. I thought the same thing, but IMDb tells a different story. He was on The Heights in 1992 and 90210 from 1994-1996. Maybe Fox reran The Heights after his arc on 90210? Networks reran things sometimes back then, strange as it may seem now.
  10. Thank you for saving me a Google. Yes her, of course, also the girl from Venkman's first scene in Ghostbusters where he helps her cheat at being psychic.
  11. Whenever I'm really, intensely hungry, I think of George saying "I can feel my stomach sucking up against my spine!"
  12. I'm doing the Official Seinfeld Hulu Rewatch, and can I tell you--I never noticed this joke before (or possibly as a teenager I didn't know what it was referencing) but it really is hilarious. And he must call him that five times in five different episodes, it really was a thing for awhile. Also, the jacket Kramer takes from that guy--they set that up and then pay it off about ten times. I always admired how Seinfeld could knit three or four plotlines together (they did this better than almost any other show) and these continuing jokes just reinforce how narratively advanced it was.
  13. I loved Rachel's dad. "His name is *Bobby* *Bobby*?"
  14. I thought the same thing. Vaughn got himself a hitman free of charge with that plan. I felt the same way. Everybody stumbling around drunk, being bleak. It's been done. I started to imagine what it would be like if just one of the three law enforcement characters had actually had a functional life. Not Colin Farrell, because I actually like what he is doing, and with his character's history he certainly has a ton to be depressed about. Then I rejected Taylor Kitsch's character for the idea, because I immediately imagined a straight-laced, naive cop, probably with a wife and small children, getting in over his head with organized crime. So, Rachel McAdams. Imagine this: her character is a good detective who also has a happy home life. Husband or boyfriend (/girlfriend?), keeps a clean house, goes to the farmer's market on the weekends. It certainly would have provided some variety. Of course, the case would wear on her as the season goes on. So that's my alternate timeline for the show right now. I also thought of Terriers, especially when they started talking about land deals and holding companies. I said to my boyfriend, who only ever made it through two episodes before deciding it was not for him, "Can we please try Terriers again? Please?" He'll think about it.
