I meant a renewing of their vows. Not an actual wedding ceremony. Forgot to add that. It would be like another "candle house" moment. Them re-committing to each other. Just a thought.

I have a new theory about what will happen after reading that casting side for 11X24...and for the first time in 2 days it's got my thinking Derek won't die after all! I think the couple in that side is Meredith and Derek! Didn't one of the sides for 11X22 or 11X23 mention one of the main characters being pregnant? I either read that here or on Twitter. I have read so much speculation that I can't remember where I read what! Lol I think Derek ends up in a coma after 11X21 and I think Meredith finds out she is pregnant. That could be one of the reasons she is vomiting in the promo. There seems to be a significant time jump in at least 11X22 and maybe 11x23 too! They could have her pregnancy play out via time jumps in 11X22 and 11X23 to avoid another season long pregnancy arc, and have her deliver in the finale (11X24)...right after Derek wakes up out of the coma!! This would explain why both of those people in the side (the couple) were in hospital beds. Yes, it could be Richard and Catherine but honestly it did not read like them to me. This couple started kissing before the pastor even finished...that so reads like MerDer to me!! Plus, why would Richard AND Carherine be in hospital beds??? The only thing I question about my theory is this...it seems that this would happen at the end of the finale. Why release something so huge in a casting side? It's probably just wishful thinking on my part anyway! Lol

It just occurred to me another reason why I don't believe Derek will die. Not sure how many people here (if any) follow the Canadian airing of the show via Twitter. The new episode actually airs in Canada BEFORE it airs in the US. They have chosen to show the episode in Canada the night following the US airing, on previous occassions when they knew there was something big to show. Well. Thursdays episide is still airing before the US episode airs. As a matter of fact, I think it's airing earlier than it even normally does there. Now, I know that the vast majority of fans do not follow the Canadian airing but once it's on Twitter, etc word of what happens spreads like wildfire. Would the show allow this to happen if the episode were sooo huge???? Think of the fans it would piss off! I know, from my perspective, if I find out Derek dies I will not tune in when it airs in the US!

Well there goes my theory of it being a case of "mistaken indentity" with the burn victim. Unless the person's body was burned beyond recognition, it's hard to not to know whether or not that's your husband laying in a hospital bed! I got the sides mixed up. The scene that Meredith is in says nothing about burns. I thought maybe the burn victim somehow ended up with Derek's ID or something. This kind of changes that...ugh!! As for the scenes on the ferry, I just can't see why in the world ABC would spring for a location shoot in Seattle on a ferry boat, just for a few scenes at the very beginning of the episode. That's wasting money and can't you "green screen" scenes like this??? I just think the ferry boat scenes have to be more meaningful than that. Also, maybe I am wrong to think this way but, if PD was leaving and being killed off, and those ferry boat scenes were his last, I just cannot see him "rubbing it in" to the fans faces by posting about it on Twitter like he did. If he did it knowing he is leaving and being killed off then so much for what HE thinks of the fans too! I just don't think he's like that! He knows we have been invested for 10 years. Same goes for the scene with Meredith where she goes to the hospital after he is supposedly injured. He posted that day too when they were filming that scene and said something about EP being in love at her work. I just can't see him making light of Derek dying like that knowing how it would hurt the fans! I still stand by my opinion that those ferry boat scenes at the end may clue the audience into the fact that Derek IS alive, although Meredith may not know it. That accomplishes a couple of things. 1. It gets the fans off the ledge of "OMG Derek is going to die or "OMG is Derek going to die" because those freak outs are EVERYWHERE 2. To possibly "where is Derek going" or "Okay, Derek is alive but when will Meredith find out?" See that still provides ABC with something to promote, hashtag, etc! But at least the fans are off the ledge and still watching to see when he returns. Once we know he lives they can do these things to keep us watching to see what happens next. But if I even THINK he's dead then I am done! Shonda won't string me along for the rest of the season like a puppet! I think PD sometimes says things or words things unintetntionally without thinking about how it sounds or comes out. When he said he can concenttrate on racing for the rest of the year, I took it to mean the "Grey's year" the rest of the filming season. Not literally the rest of the year or even the rest of the racing year (November). I took it to mean he would not return to Grey's in July. Since Shonda is the creator and where "the buck ultimately stops" I would think she would do a lot of re-writes in general. If something does not jive with the way she wants it to go then she has the authority to re-write it. She has said this before and I have always assumed this to be the case. I took it that it would be. It better be solved with the resolution that he is very much alive if they want a lot of the fans to continue watching! I will not be stringed along because I am not her puppet! The more I read the sides for 11X22 it really sounds AU or dream-like or something. I can believe that PD and EP have it written in their contracts that they will appear less in season 12. Maybe that was part of the agreement. I can't find it right now but I am almost sure that PD went public after that article appeared and said that he would not leave Grey's early. He would finish out his contract at least.

I literally go back and forth on what I think will happen every day! Lol Some days I think Derek will die just because there are SO many things pointing to it. However, deep down I mostly don't believe PD would leave and allow it to happen and I don't believe Shonda and ABC would do this because it would absolutely be THE END of the show! The final nail in it's coffin! I know..it's only my opinion...but there are a lot of people out there who agree with me. I would be so done and no I would not even watch the remaining episodes this season if he dies. Having said all that...here is my theory about what will happen. Meredith will THINK he died or is brain dead (for those who read sides, isn't it speculated that Derek is the burn victim who has had no brain activity for 12 hours???) This is where I think those scenes that PD filmed in Seattle on the ferry boat come into play! The episode will end with Meredith standing over "Derek" in the hospital bed brain dead. Then it goes to DEREK on the ferry boat (why I have not figured out yet!) very much alive!!! I think the next episode jumps ahead 6 months or so to show what her life would be like without him. AU, dream, whatever. Maybe episode 23 too?? But in the finale Derek returns to her alive and well!

Just saw speculation on Twitter that Derek could be in a coma through the SF, wake up at the end of 11X24 but have Amnesia, then their entire season 12 story could be all about Meredith reminding HIM who SHE is every day. That would be sooo Shonda but that is going to piss me off so bad if it happens!

It seems very odd to me that he would pre-shoot his scenes and be done with the season already when his next race is not for another 3 weeks. Heck, they will all be done shooting for the season by then! Does not make much sense to me. He does not need the next 3 weeks to prepare. I think it's more likely that those scenes on the ferry boat are for epi 21 (MAYBE 22 since they were shooring it simulateously) Also he is wearing the same blue shirt that he had on in the last episode. I really don't get why they spent the money to fly him all the way to Seattle to shoot on a ferry boat when they could have done it with a green screen. It must be a big scene and important to the episode. I also wondered if that pic of Mer and the kids was a BTS pic or it is just before she finds out he is in bad shape when she goes to visit him. She sure does look happy but something tells me Shonda is messing with the fans. She just better not kill Derek that's all I have to say! For the sake of the success of the show I hope she knows that is not in her best interest! I still think he might be hurt but to me there is just way too much hype around something happening to Derek, for him to be the one who is in major trouble.

Count me among the many MerDer shippers who will be done with this show if he dies! I will not watch without Derek! With that being said, I don't think he will actually die (and goodness I hope for no coma either). There is too much hye surrounding this. They are going out of their way to make us believe something happens to Derek. Too many anvils. So I think it will be someone else. A red herring. I keep thinking about Richard in that car in front of a green screen for epi 20. Also, I think if PD breaks his contract he can count his racing career over. He has said before that the show and his racing help each other. Like it or not, his sponsors are with him because he is so loved by so many for his role on Grey's. He is loved because he is McDreamy. Take that away and I don't think he would be so appealing to sponsors, etc for racing!

Does anyone else besides me have moments where they wonder if Derek really told Meredith about the kiss? I originally thought he did. Otherwise, why would she get so upset??? That he told her and Meredith was going over what he told her, in her head, and that's where the flashbacks came from. I guess I really do still believe that but somewhere in the back of my mind I am wondering if he omitted the kiss from the story. I read a roundtable discussion about episode 17 on TV Fanatic and ALL FOUR writers seemed to think he did not tell her about the kiss. That and they were just so happy in last night's epsiode. No fallout from his admission of kissing another woman, whatsoever! This is just weird to me.

This is so, so, so stupid I truly believe Derek did not even do anything and now we will have to go through several episodes of MerDer being apart and Meredith not trusting him! Ugh!!

I really think that Derek is going to reveal to Meredith that he did not do anything and that the girl tried to come on to him and kiss him and he stopped it and walked away (regarding the flashback scene shown in the promo), this is what I hope really happened anyway. I have watched the promo a couple of times and Meredith says something to the effect of "I really want to believe you but I don't know if I can". My concern is that Meredith will not realize the role she played in all of this...the role her attitude played in pushing him away in the first place. She will once again digress into "old flighty Meredith" and say she cannot trust him and that she wants time apart to sort it out in her mind. If this happens I am going to be so aggravated because it is: 1. Way overboard to act this way towards your husband who never actually did anything wrong AND thought enough of you as his wife, and his family, to come home and work through the problems with you! And 2. It is sooo repetitive! We have seen Meredith act this way before in season 4 (and in every episode leading up to that season) and it would be such a regression to see MerDer reduced to this once again! I'm not saying they don't have problems to work through, and that could be very interesting to watch, but there are better ways to do it than to have them "split". Even if it's for just a few episodes I won't be happy!

Exactly! The rest of the episode was sort of "so so" to me. It had it's bright spots. I loved the scene in the basement where Callie said "Team MerDer"! That was awesome! Everything else was kind of boring to me. However, that 30 second scene at the end when PD/Derek FINALLY returned made the entire show for me!!! The past 6 weeks without him have been horrible imo so I am really looking forward to this show finding it's footing again!

The side for Renee in epi 17 and the press release for the episode really has me concerned that it's true about the cheating (though deep down I don't believe Shonda and the writers would do such a thing as having Derek cheat). The press release stated something to the effect of Meredith, being rattled by recent events, has to decide what to do about Derek. I did not think much of that, of course, until I saw the end of 11X15 and the promo for next week. Now it has me wondering. The side for 11X17 really sounds like the Brain Mapping Lab and it could be a flashback. However, logically, there are 3 sperate scenes for the character of Renee in that side. It does not really read like a flashback in my opinion. It reads like a "real time" scene at the hospital.Each scene takes place at different points in the day and ultimately, in the last scene nothing happens. Whoever the doctor in the scene is, he leaves the room. Unless there is another scene that we don't know about after that, I really don't see the point of a flashback to Derek in DC that does not show us anything. Maybe it is Jackson or one of the other male doctors. Here's what I hope happens. I hope the episode opens up showing the viewers Derek rushing around trying to get to the airport or whatever to come back to Seattle. In all the craziness he has left or lost his phone somewhere. Then at the end or torwards the end he is back in Seattle and with Meredith and he can explain to her what happened. I think Meredith will spend the entire episode questioning what is going on (questioning Derek) but I hope they show the audience, at least, quickly that it was all a misunderstandiing!

Just read the press release for episode 11X16 and am wondering what Meredith's "fear" about Derek could be??? Hope they are not planning on continuing to play Meredith as "Little Miss Independent" and she thinks she can get along just fine without Derek! Turning Meredith into Ellis 2.0 would be a good way to lose the viewers they have left! If they break Meredith and Derek up or turn this into a prolonged fight and separation, so help me I am so done with this show! Waiting for Derek's return..
