  1. The problem is, I'm watching two good actors, and a third, actually with MI, just not having anything to work with. I can't get past this bs. There is no Hank would be toiling away in some writer's room on a derivative show. But yeah, no Karen is better.
  2. What year is it on the show? I'm wondering how long it is till the presidential election since TPTBs are kind of constrained (in a sense) with how they unfold the show. I mean, they can run a whole season where only a month passes if they want.
  3. I think Kent and Sue are dating now. I don't know when it actually happened, but they walked into the bar so casually together and then she took the seat right next to him when everyone left. He also texted her, and I doubt she'd give her number out otherwise. Sue of course wouldn't mention it to anyone. I don't know if this is how it's written or if the actors chose to play it that way, but I like how he's so obviously into her and she plays it so cool. I'm really liking the direction of the season, having Selina run for president. It gets her out of the office and there's new challenges for everyone. I don't see how she was going to convince Maddox not to run. She's seen as being 'attached' to potus, and most on the show view him with contempt so Maddox probably thinks he's got a leg up since he's a fresh choice.
  4. The show is finally clicking with me. E1 was uneven with the pacing, but I like the concept. I usually stick around for about 5 episodes for a show anyway. I still can't name the characters. I know Abe. And Burn Gorman because I like him in everything. Which is weird because I know all the characters on Game of Thrones and that has like a million people in it. I really liked this episode because I knew Burn was playing a mindfuck. Just basing this type of show around that kind of concept was really interesting to me. I really hope those colonists can kick some redcoat ass! The girl screaming from being tortured while playing cards and banging on the table injected a needed dose of humor. I think the show needs moments like this. I was going back and forth on whether this was calculated. The actor makes Abe look kind of clueless a lot, which I suppose is directed since you don't want anyone to know your the sooperspy. But on the other hand, it's hard as a viewer to read when he's plotting things.
  5. I'm not convinced Norman's memory is actually what happened. It was shot really weird.
  6. I would think that being the Doctor is an all-consuming job, but I think the resolution of the Cardinal on the show is funny. "Where is he?" "uh" Marc Warren should be good. I like him in everything. I hope he'll bring The Coat! The cool thing is at the end of series one, they finally got one over on the Cardinal. So even though he's not around anymore, the Musketeers and the Queen know they got him in the end.
  7. This was actually my favorite scene in the episode because it was really creepy to me. I know that Cosima isn't doing any actiony stuff, but she's an academic, and I do think it's important to learn about the clones from the scientific pov. I posted last night that this guy should be thanking his agent. He was on the under-rated Treme as well and had a really nice character arc.
  8. Well, we know Riario, DaVinci, and Machiavelli make it back to Italy. Riario's ship is gone, so he's going to need a ride home. They've got all that time at sea.
  9. This is a classic case of 'know the show you have,' which so many TPTBs just can't seem to do. *coughLostcough* This is the show. So just go with it. I mean, you basically have a gay bdsm porn with the Duke of Naples and the current ruler of the Florence republic ffs. Who has to shoot a horse to stay alive. Roll the cameras! I can't imagine what the director said for the cornfield scene. "So, uh, we're going strip Riario down and paint him all weird and shit. Then, you have to basically just go primal. We don't have any dialogue per se, so do a whole bunch of grunts and screams and act like you're getting super horny after you kill the other guys." They reeled me in with Blind Dracula On Fire. I was like, "so it's going to be like this now? Ok."
  10. On this episode, Lorenzo faces the Kobayahshi Maru, Riaro goes Apocalypse Now on crack, and DaVinci gets super high and fucks a very fit and shapely Aztec princess who is from an advanced civilization we know because she grooms well. More. Of This. Please. Show. I actually don't care much for the Italy stuff, but this was a good study into Medici and having the brother come back for both plots was cool. And those scenes in the cornfield were *nuts*. I refuse to believe that Riario loves anyone but DaVinci. TPTBs can tell me what they want, but the actors are totally playing the hoyay. Please. That's what makes a show like this work. Two straight men don't eye fuck one another, shirtless, and then one slaps the other. I honestly didn't know enough about Riario's woman to care about her much at all. I do hope Medici can put one over on Naples on his own without any fancy DaVinci magic. I have a feeling this "book of leaves" isn't going to be what we would call a "book." The "dead" stuff was cool too, showing the Mona Lisa and old DaVinci kind of looked like how he's been depicted. The dialogue was sufficiently cryptic, which was expected, but I liked how young DaVinci was all like, "wait, this is a causal loop, and you're there, so..." And the old one was, "ugh. Shut up already."
  11. This is the similar problem, to me, as TPTBs from the original SG1 movie wanting to make a direct sequel and ignoring over 10 years of tv canon. Most BSG fans don't know the 70s show or what it was really about. BSG to them is the RDM version. If Larson makes his "vision" based on the 70s tv show of BSG again, people are going to be like, wtf is this? Simply because the BSG zeitgeist is the RDM version. I suppose one could make a pre-skin job BSG movie, but you need more than just fans of the show to see the movie for it to make money. Then it's just a movie about killer robots, and most people are going to be like, "wasn't there just a Terminator movie?"
  12. That's a good call. She's been slated as a potential caretaker for a while. Claudia getting her shit together is part of that. I don't have nerd-girl-cool-geek characters on the other shows I watch, but I know it's popular now. I kind of think it's a good thing because there's been decades of "oh, lol, the dorky boy in his basement who likes Star Trek does computers." Even in this episode, Pete thought the Faire was cool and everyone at the Faire was having a good time. Nerding out on something is in and it's pervading tv.

It's not google? Because the color scheme was pretty much the same. I supposed it could be a conglomeration of the two.
  14. I found Karen's response at the beginning of the episode to be predictable and way out of proportion. As she correctly pointed out, this happened before Hank even knew her. I'll give Hank a shred of credit by trying to be involved in the kid's life. But "she's always going to be Baby Mama #1." How old are you, Karen? And really, ok, they have to tell Becca. But Karen ranting about it was whatever to me. Do they actually know Becca? She's either going to roll with it or spend a few months ignoring Hank and making pithy remarks and then will come around. It's not like they really have to worry about her mental stability on the issue. Really. I just don't know what the show is doing or the show knows what it's doing. Is Hank in the writers' room because TPTB just wanted to flip it up and do something new? I can get that, but I just don't by that Hank needs this kind of job. Are they showing that Hank's influence on his just-now son might be helpful to the kid? Then don't have his mother fighting the battles for him. Having him apologize is an important thing to do, ok. But he's got to go in and do it on his own. The actor coming on to Hank and using his finger to finger herself, is funny because that's typical Hank. And it's true that with his reputation he could bring a lot of heat down on the office. Well, then, Christofuh, *don't leave Hank alone in a room with the actors*. It's not that difficult. I'm not really finding Levon funny. If he's mentally ill; it's not funny because he should be getting help. If he's not and just a social nitwit, then it's not funny because it's a tired cliche. It's like everything is just absurd for the sake of absurdity. I wonder if DD is just sick of smoking? It might be just that. They could have him just quit. Some people do.
  15. I don't think this was too much of a focus on Claudia. They brought up the sister plot last season and pretty much resolved it in 2 episodes. I thought this episode was fairly balanced between Claudia/Claire, Myka venting, and the Faire. I mean, it's no where near Holly on Eureka. I thought they were going to drag this out over the final six episodes, so I was pleased they went in this direction. Since there's three episodes left, I'd like to see everyone together more.
  16. False. GOB is an illusionist. This was a magician who does tricks, like a whore for money. There's just not enough "Amy in the street" this season, but I like the sketches. Also, "my fantasy is to sit on your face while I read tweets" was hilarious. (also, please call me, Amy)

I don't know if it was in the script, but I think the actor was definitely playing it that way. On top of that, she pretty much was the only professional being surrounded by boys and I think she was attracted to Amy's no-BS.
  18. That's the problem. If they go to a cable outlet, Carol *needs* to be involved somehow, but it has to be done in a way that's not contrived. She realistically could be studio head again and just let Sean and Bev develop their new show without interference. Unless Carol becomes and EP and they shop the show around to cable outlets instead. I can't seem Bev wanting to get into that mess. But for the time being, Pucks is commissioned for 6 more episodes, so they'll have to produce them. I'd like if they just did whatever they wanted for the episodes because they don't think they will air, but they turn out to be actually good.
  19. I always thought it could, sustain itself beyond John and Aeryn, like Star Trek. I've been saying it for years. They've done a good job with world-building to be sure. And, really, looking at Star Trek, TOS still got in several movies before Next Generation. I mean, everything is a megafranchise in movies nowadays, but they're the same thing. How many Spiderman movies are there? Oh, look there's a Batman *and* Superman movie. Farscape is still pretty original and fresh imo and there's all sorts stories to tell.
  20. I liked that Linda basically said, "Yes, Bob, my side of the family is nuts. Now, move on."
  21. There's no way DaVinci would leave his bf behind.
  22. So we're calling it Vespuccia? Fine by me. This episode provided the right proportion of DaVinci in the, uh, Vespiccias, and the plots in Italy for me. I agree, since TPTBs aren't constrained by history with the the Incas, they might as well go wild on it. We know Nico and DaVinci make it out, but that's it.
  23. This was great, but I really liked, "So...you're gay." "My sexuality isn't the most interesting thing about me." More of this please. In life. I didn't see the 'mirror' coming, but I'm fine with it. I'm worried about Helena being trapped there, but I don't think those people know how batshit she is, so good luck with that. Not only Mrs S shooting and stabbing everyone, but the way the show shot the scene, almost from Kira's pov in the truck looking up at the window and then the guy was blown away. It was a really well-shot scene. If this was Lost, Felix would be Alison's constant. I've liked Peter Outerbridge in many roles, most notably, ReGenesis. I think this was good casting here. I'm excited to see what his character's about. TPTB clearly wanted to expand the 'world' in this second season, and for only 2 episodes, they've done a one hell of a job with world-building. I'm still worried about Art.
  24. Hank did ask if he was definitely the father, and one of the guys in the writer's room said he could hook Hank up with a lawyer. I think Runkle said something too.
  25. Real scientists doing work in real labs also are subject to peer review as well. From getting funding in the first place to publishing and verifying results/conclusions. So if any one particular person thinks they are above being fallible, then the reviewers will be happy to knock them down a peg. This is the problem in that people generally don't know how science is "done" for lack of a better word. I think scientists need to up the public communication, but a show like it very good in that effort. Look at all the work that went into figuring out how old the planet is. It's just a single number in the end, but when people brush it off like, "I don't believe it. I wasn't there," I don't think they really understand not only the work, but the rigorous effort that went into it. And it's not their fault totally, but there needs to be something more where people generally understand how something like that was achieved. It's more like the lack of interest in wanting to know that, is pretty much a bummer.
