  1. Deja is older than Tess. Tess is 13 now. I only know this because in the Halloween episode when she was born, it was dated Halloween 2008. I have a son born November 2008 and I was shocked at that because I thought Tess was older. She’s way more mature than the kids I know of the same age. She and Deja have always been written older than their age in my opinion.
  2. How old is Tess? I thought in the Halloween episode a few years ago it set her birthdate as October 31, 2008. That makes her a few weeks older than my 12 year old son, but I’ve always thought they write her character like she’s older than that.
  3. I feel like recent episodes are trying to cram in too many storylines. Could have done without William and Jessie tonight. Liked Miguel standing up for Rebecca to his kids, and can’t understand why they seemed to blame Rebecca for their parents divorce. Loved Annie this episode! i liked the Tess storyline but was a bit taken out of it because I feel like she’s a bit young for it. Last year’s Halloween episode established that she was born Halloween 2008, so she just turned 10. My son also just turned 10 so I remember being surprised at that because she seems to be written older, more like a 12-13 year old. Kate did reference being about her age and 12 when she got her first period, so maybe I’m remembering Tess’ birth year wrong.
  4. I'm an adoptive mom and had an adopted brother, and I gasped when Kate made that comment. Not only would I be offended about my own place in the family if I was Randall, but I would be even more upset to think that my sister considered my child to be something "less" in the family because they weren't blood related. What Kate said was offensive to Kevin and Randall, but also Tess, Annie and soon Deja.
  5. What is the school year age cut off in New York? Where I live, it's December 31. My DS has a November birthday and is one of the youngest in his class - several of his friends have January birthdays so that makes them 10 or more months older than him even though they are in the same grade. So Riley turning 13 in December and her best friend turning 14 early in the New Year wouldn't be unusual here.
