  1. What is that shirtless action figure on David's headboard???? Also wouldn't the cops make sure Noah had a license to have a gun before just handing him a gun? Sure it's America but it's California!
  2. I went to private school, so we have a reunion every 5 years because they're fundraisers. Even so, the 5th was at a bar instead of on campus because it was super casual, and there has certainly never been any kind of book, even pre-Facebook. AND WTF WITH THE CORSAGES?? THAT'S NOT A THING!! I've generally found that as we get older we all really like each other. I've made new friends with people I knew but never really talked to in high school. Only hanging out one night every 5 years is plenty, but still. Like I'd never have been friends with a Steve or Dylan in high school but I imagine we'd get along now. And Brandon and Kelly would be in the completely insufferable minority. (Brenda would be a total f** hag and we'd sit in a corner making snide remarks about everyone and wondering why we weren't better friends in high school, despite having done theatre together.)
  3. Prop Cop needs to know what's up with that water damaged diploma.
  4. Also I honestly thought that Dramatic Cop music cue was the beginning of "Baby Merchant" from Cop Rock.
  5. The wall of that interrogation room is giving me RuPaul's Drag Race workroom realness.
  6. Bless you for posting the link to the recipe. I want to make it right now!
  7. Katharine McPhee and Jack Davenport are currently making their Broadway debuts across the street from each other.
  8. I plan to finish it too! I just didn't manage to before the podcast. There's a LOT of TV and internet out there...
  9. “Chlamydia is not a flower” was the actual title of a brochure in my college health services office that my friends and I reference to this day. Now I wonder if any time I’ve said that since 2005 people thought I was quoting VM!
  10. Is that a Zip disk drive on the desk? 100 whole megabytes on a disk that weighed half a pound and required special equipment to read!
  11. My college commencement experience is somewhere in between you guys. My class was about the same size as Sarah's, but we definitely had to sit through everyone walking across the stage and a fucking speech and all of that. It was SO tedious. I don't remember how seating worked but I feel confident I was with some friends or I would have killed myself? It's possible it was coincidence; I think maybe someone was sitting behind me (I'm a G and he's a K). It wasn't by department. In high school (class of 120 or so) we got to choose who we walked in with (in either pairs or trios), so we had a deadline to submit that and then they just made an arbitrary order. In hindsight that seems fraught but I guess no one had NO friends? I think it's possible that something similar happened in college, but it's entirely possible I'm conflating the two.
  12. I know it's not, but I buy that it could be the same guy plus 20 pounds and minus some hair? Maybe he's pregnant too!
  13. If you were really dedicated you'd render it yourself. :)
  14. When I did a quick Google of "stodgy" for the podcast last night, it gave me the food-related meaning as a second definition. Merriam-Webster actually has it first. "Having a rich, filling quality. Heavy." I'd only heard the "old-fashioned" or "stuffy" meaning too before. I always thought "pudding" was an all-purpose British term for dessert, and Googling "British pudding" or even "school pudding" kind of bears that out. I wonder if in the US this will get dubbed into "Dessert Week?" In any case, the school pudding seems like a very specific TYPE of pudding.
  15. I love them both but Charlotte Rae and Bea Arthur singing a song from "Dreamgirls" should be in the dictionary next to "White people, am I right?"
  16. Wait...KitchenAid mixers are expensive. (And, you know, useful in the kitchen.) Why is Nat using one for decoration?!?
  17. Re: the questions about earlier (and future!) seasons on PBS/Netflix: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/11/arts/television/british-baking-show.html
  18. Totally. I just meant that from a TV standpoint there wasn't much to SEE in terms of process, since he'd made the molds at home. The actual process of making the the pies wasn't that different from anyone else's, and they're not going to just show an oven door for 5 minutes. Not to take away from his accomplishment, which was something indeed!
  19. Aw, thanks. I wasn't fishing. :) We can try to include these segments more if we do another season. I think Andrew's molds did most of the work of making the gears. And the stand, which he arrived with. Not that they weren't impressive, but yeah there wasn't much process to see. I don't think Candice is "pulling faces," as many on here keep saying, I think that's just her face.
  20. Honestly, since the podcast isn't meant to be a straight recap, we discuss them when we're interested and don't when we're not. Usually we're not! But I appreciate that your mileage may vary. We recorded this one a couple of weeks ago and tbh I don't remember what the history lesson was. Anyone know if the episodes are uncut on PBS.org?
  21. Thank you for being one of the three people that joke was for. Couldn't resist.
