  1. I thought it served her right. Dina had Justine all set up to go and Amy, as usual, bulldozed her way through and knocked Justine to the side after she discovered the guy was (supposedly) hot. Just like when the insurance co-op seemed to be going well and she just had to have everybody think it was her idea. She never learns. Now whether Dina really had planned for Justine to go on the date or was just doing it because she knew how Amy would react, who knows? I kind of want it to be the latter, with Dina using Amy's character flaws against her to get what she (Dina) wants after all.
  2. Hey! No harm in looking! Although with Blair or Aquaria, I feel like just looking might be breaking several laws.
  3. I'm as annoyed with Eureka as ever. That hair curl just makes me shudder and I hate the vanity glasses with no lens looks, although it was funny to see him trying to remember not to poke his fingers through the glasses when he was tearing up in the werk room. I'm trying to forgive Monet for the no glass glasses in the THs because I love her otherwise. I'm also Team Cracker over Aquaria just because I love Bob and Sharon might be my least favorite non-all star winner. Way sad for Vangie because Alexis is one of my all time faves and even more so after I saw Kalorie being such a bitch in Untucked. Also I'm glad Untucked is considered part of the show (on Directv, at least) so I don't have to have a separate recording. Not really into Dusty Rae Bottoms in drag, but I'm fine with her sticking around for her THs because boy Dusty gives me Ioan Gryffudd-ish vibes.
  4. Wasn't Jack Vincennes (Kevin Spacey's character in LA Confidential) kind of based on Danny Galindo? What I couldn't figure out is why the female cop didn't wait by the car. Or at least take down the plate and registration numbers before she ran off to pretty much nowhere. I think back then that the registrations were posted somewhere on the car so you could see who owned it.
  5. "I have to force myself to go to work because my arms are so embarrassing and my students laugh and make fun behind my back. So of course I'll wear this sleeveless top in class." Never gets old, except it does. Antonia should dump another 200 or so pounds and get rid of the selfish, non caretaker, points out other women he thinks look better than her, unsupportive jackass she calls her boyfriend. I kind of hope she watched this episode and actually listened to herself and what she said about him.
  6. I've seen a couple shows on Hiley, I didn't recognize the name until I read the link and saw the Robbi and Terri names. I've never seen American Monster (I don't watch much ID anymore other than ACtR and Homicide Hunter), but I think one of them was Deadly Women. Not sure that they'd do Cheryl Crane, since Stompanato wasn't a very sympathetic victim. Crane's autobio Detour was a fantastic book. Not sure it's in print these days, as I think I was still a teenager when I got it back when it first came out. Speaking of coming out, she was on some talk show at the time promoting the book (I think it might have been Donahue) and somebody from the audience actually yelled out the "Adam and Steve" question. It's really gratifying to think that we as a society have come such a long way, even though there's much farther to go. I had no idea Geza de Kaplany was still alive! I was wondering if they could do a show on somebody that's still alive (although he's really not in a position to complain about it) but I think that Kitty Genovese's killer just died in the last year or so and her episode was before that. Thinking about Cheryl Crane and Lana Turner made me think of another good subject for this show, Leo Frank. (Turner's first movie role was in They Won't Forget, a very fictionalized version of the Mary Phagan/Leo Frank case). That was definitely a crime with two innocent victims, where a tragedy was compounded.
  7. I mentioned it in another thread, but check out the movie Compulsion. Although the names are fictitious, Orson Welles plays the Darrow character and I think (not 100% sure) that his closing argument is close to verbatim. This movie was in the late 50s so it couldn't give all the gory details of the case, but it's a pretty compelling film. A decent novel as well, it pretty much sticks to the facts while fictionalizing them, probably for legal reasons since Leopold was still alive at the time.
  8. Thank you! I knew that tranquilized wasn't quite right, but just couldn't pull it out.
  9. I really thought Bebe would be stripping off the robe to reveal a disco jumpsuit much like that video. I think it's likely that she was unfamiliar with the song and just went with the Ross "look", which she nailed. Not that Trixie put up any roadblocks. Who learns that they will be performing a Diana Ross disco tune and thinks, "Hey, that sweet little pink and white gingham playsuit I brought will be perfect for this! Now where did I put my Dolly wig with the side bows and my white Beatle boots?" As soon as they took the stage and the song was revealed all I could think about was poor little Kenya Michaels looking like a little sprite dancing around and trying to compete with a pregnant Latrice Royale doing Aretha Franklin. I was all about Latrice that season, but it still seemed a bit like shooting fish in a barrel. Ba dum bump! ETA And just to show that I'm not all about the Trixie hate, I give her the line of the season for calling Pearl a semi- tranquilized? conscious? twink from Brooklyn. I loved it so much that I can't even remember exactly how she put it so I'll leave it to someone who hasn't already deleted it from their DVR to add it to the library thread.
  10. I've been pretty happy with the eliminations so far (I really like Chi Chi, but it was getting painful) so, while the comeback is generally a chance for me to get a favorite back, I won't be looking forward to any of them returning. Not having Milk and Thorgy have a chance does soften the blow a bit, though. I don't really have anything against Aja, other than wondering why she was an all star the very next season after she put in an atrocious performance (I really wanted to see Trinity K, Bonet). I do agree she has upped her game, but boy Aja was the very defintion of trying too hard. Sideways pink hat, check. Brooke Shield eyebrows, check, Pink poodle cut, check. Wait, where's the pink plastic slave collar??? Oh, there it is hiding under my pink faux fur jacket! check. I also hope we've heard the last of "sis". I know a lot of people like it as a new term, but to me it will always be reserved for old men and country rednecks. My grandpa wasn't a redneck, but his family was originally from around the Ozarks, and he used to call all females (regardless of age) Sis. Blake Shelton also uses it quite a lot on The Voice when he's talking to one of the women.
  11. It seems like they all have Jeannette's nose.
  12. I'm pretty sure that Grandpa's (and maybe Greg's) main objection is that they are Jewish. Sure, lots of the newer generation of Jews don't heed the "no marks" law but they are the newer generation. I'm glad that Jeanette got the stone faces at dinner when she was supposed to be the center of attention. She deserved it for going behind Greg's back. I can give her a pass on the surgery scheduling as, if the events played as shown, she never really had a chance to talk to Greg about that before Jazz "pulled a Jazz". Pulling a Jazz being taking any occassion and turning it into all about her. She must have been ready to explode since nobody had noticed the tattoo under the short sleeves and sheer lace she'd been wearing. She's got to know that even if her grandparents aren't practicing Jews, that kind of stuff would not fly with them.
  13. Since Dela and Shangela are two of my all time favorites (yeah, I said it!) I've been having a blast watching this year. Never been a Thorgy or Milk fan, so them getting gone early was good for me as well. Now, Trixie... I like boy Trixie better now that he shaved his head and doesn't remind me of India Ferrah every time I look at him, but. I've never cared for a grotesque type painting and I think I'm still annoyed that she wanted to do Anne Frank for Snatch Game in her season, Also, I loved Mrs. Kasha Davis and thought she should have won the comeback challenge. So I have to admit that I kind of loved how she botched her Ru. As someone said upthread, she still painted as Trixie (same with her Dolly Parton). With the overdrawn lips, wig choice and subtle (at first) chicken necking I thought she changed her mind and was doing Chad doing Cher doing Vicki the Living Doll. It's not enough to memorize "Ru" lines, you have to think on your feet and go with what's given to you. Which brings us to Ben. At first I thought he was more Charles Nelson Reilly than Paul Lynde, but then he got into the swing of things and I was glad he chose Lynde just for the 'circle gets the square' line if nothing else. Ben and Shangela are quick wits and excel at adlibs and playing off others' lines and that's why they're so great at this. Reading articles, I'm shocked about how many people are totally unaware of Paul Lynde. Damn, people, you can find Bewitched on any hour of any day on some cable channel or the other. Shangela won, so I'm not knocking her choice, but I would have loved seeing her take the Irish read and run with it, playing Miss Cleo as an Irish granny pretending to be a Jamaican psychic. Barring that, Chi Chi should have asked to borrow her tarot cards and turn Maya into Cleo as that would have fit the look she already had.
  14. I'm really looking forward to this one, since I've always been of the opinion that Heirens was framed by the police. Coincidentally, I mentioned the Black Dahlia in the "what would you like to have covered" thread a week or so back. There are theories that have connected these murders to the Dahlia (I think a case was made for George Hodel possibly being in Chicago at that time) and I'm hoping they might bring that up in the course of the show. Some of it is rather far fetched, but a few of the similarities are compelling.
  15. I'm wondering if this wouldn't be too intense, as it seems like ACtR doesn't go for the really hard core stuff. But one of the main things I like about the show that sets it apart from others is that they tend to focus on the victim/s rather than the criminal, and this case would be a good one from that angle. I heard a few years ago (I forgot where) that they were going to tear down Gert's house, did they ever do that? (I only use her first name because I can't spell her last without looking it up, which I don't want to do because it always makes me slightly sick). I'd like to see the Hall-Mills murder case. Lots of juicy stuff in that one. Have they done Black Dahlia yet? The too gruesome and intense is one of the reasons that I don't think they'll ever do Albert Fish.
  16. The next morning Evan greeted Jessica in Mandarin and she asked if they were going to keep at it. He said something to the effect of they ended in a tie and he wanted a win. Jessica, being Jessica, was all about that!
  17. I was checking my listings hoping they'd have a Crime to Remember marathon before the premiere, but no such luck. However, they are showing two episodes tomorrow morning including one of my top picks, 38 Witnesses. They're also showing a few old eps before the premiere on Saturday. AND, I don't know about other systems, but if you have Directv they have Season 4 On Demand right now. It's going to be weird getting used to it being on Saturdays. This is one of the few shows that I sometimes watch live and I'm never home on Saturday nights, which is no big deal because I always record it, anyway. It's probably better anyway, as my Monday night shows are really crowded and I don't have any conflicts on Saturdays (probably because I'm not home so I've never started watching weekend shows).
  18. Four seasons already? Doesn't seem like it, but I'm thinking that some of them were really short (like just a few episodes). Of course, it might have just felt that way since I'm always disappointed when the season finale comes and I'm not ready for it to end. My favorite part of the show is at the end where they show footage of the actor and then it morphs to a picture of the real person. Also the songs they play at the end over the pictures are absolutely heartbreaking, even when they appear to have nothing to do with the subject matter on the surface.
  19. I remember this coming up when Chaz Bono transitioned. His partner (I think long term) Jennifer was really confused, like "I've been a lesbian my entire life, if I still love Chaz does that mean I'm straight now?" I think this was in the doc that he did right after he made the announcement. I didn't really follow up so I don't know if they stayed together but I remember her really not liking how the testosterone was changing him emotionally. My mom had a lot to say about that, even though she had no prior interest in him or even Cher. We do not have the same opinions on such matters so I try to avoid discussing such topics with her, but I think it came up when he was on DWTS. I finally told her "Hey, you're against people being gay and now he's heterosexual. You should be for that, right?" That totally stumped her and I don't think she's mentioned his gender or sexuality since. I thought pansexual was keeping your options completely open while polysexual was being into more than one person at the same time. Or is that just polyamorous?
  20. I noticed that as well. I thought there was going to be some line about Sheldon making him shake. Maybe there was something like that but it got cut.
  21. It was mentioned in the Angels episode when they were in his hometown and at his family's shop and that was the first I heard of it. I think it was one of the southern cities, maybe Miami or Atlanta. He had colon cancer, so I think that the Angel face off involved people who had survived or been affected by cancer. Really sad that Matt went because I loved his art work and maybe just a little because he looked like a young Mandy Patinkin. But I despised DJ and his janky looking snakes last year and he's pretty much only intensified that feeling already this season, so I would love to see his team get wiped out off the bat. He reminds me of someone who got sand kicked in his face as a kid and tried to become a bully himself but just ended up as a bitchy twerp. If somebody refers to themselves as humble that's a pretty strong guarantee that they aren't.
  22. I'm surprised it's taken them this long to tackle the Clutters. I still have the two part doc from Sundance that I need to watch.
  23. How great would it have been if the detention teacher had been played by Grant Hill? Stunt casting maybe, but his mom was/is an educator so it would be sort of an homage as well. Barring that, if the show continues on that far, I really want a callback when he joins the Magic. Random weirdness: A few days ago, Tig Notaro popped into my head for no particular reason but I could only remember her first name. A day or so later, her last name popped into my head just as randomly. Then she shows up on my tv last night!

    Season 4 Talk

I put that in the "Dre speaking fluent Vietnamese at the nail salon" file. Which is right next to the "Rainbow 'I'm a DOCTOR!' Johnson doesn't know that cereal consisting entirely of sugar isn't the best choice for kids" binder.
