  1. I just hope Blair doesn't have to deal with Carly this time around, hasn't she suffered enough?
  2. Blair! So when last we saw her on GH, she was going off with Tea and Skye to look for Tomas slash maybe Alcazar, right?
  3. Some observations: So two years have passed, smart to use a time jump to explain why so many street residents are gone. Did they SORAS Nelle and Hugo? A tad too much Mischa Barton, though noticeably never speaking.
  4. Yeah, that story thread with Dan and Amelia has done and is doing nothing for me. Ah, so Rishi conveniently wants to be buried in India, making it easier for Nikhil and Priya to attend off-screen. Backing up to yesterday, I hope, when she inevitably learns about her trying to kiss Billy, Dawn gets to shove Gabby through a window.
  5. How much control does a head writer have over this kind of thing versus a producer? To pull a OLTL example, I feel like we heard that Frank was the one who signed up Kim ZImmer and Ron had to write to it, not that Ron had all these big plans for Echo DiSavoy going in. I also think it's just Soaps now, that these shows will do the easiest/laziest thing to draw any extra eyes in and so they hope time and time again that bringing in stars from other soaps - and their preestablished fanbases - will move the needle.
  6. I wish I had mentioned this earlier because now it reads like I'm being all Monday Morning Quarterback about it, but as soon as Suni showed up, I guessed his dad was also Jai's dad. It's kinda a lazy choice given we saw something similar not that long ago with the Bartons, but it's miles better than the other guess I'd seen going around, that Jai was the product of rape. Moving on to today, oof, that opening scene of the mail being pushed through the letterbox with Rishi's dead body laying there, having been there all night, was rough. Nice performances all around as the news spread. I also liked Manpreet being pulled in, being the one to call Priya. Can't wait to hear how they explain her and Nikhil not being at the funeral. Oh, we were supposed to be caring about the whole Bob/Wendy/Liam thing? I never have.
  7. Hey, Bobbie, if you're just handing chunks of your estate away, maybe your son Lucas (who?) would have enjoyed a basically free turnkey business and the profits thereof?
  8. Carly: I'm standing on my own two feet! Also Carly: My mommy sold me a turnkey business for a dollar! In other news...Terry has been dating that bodyguard guy for A YEAR? How many scenes have they had together, three?
  9. Given how this team has written Carly thus far, I'm expecting disaster, that it'll be her teaming with mini-Carly Joss to make Kelly's a cool, hip place for the youngz, or it's a David vs. Goliath thing with Carly the underdog vs. Nina while everyone blows smoke up her bum, ugh. But I don't see them renaming Kelly's to Carly's. If anything, when they (presumably) write in JZ's death, I could see them renaming it Bobbie's.
  10. It's interesting how those (tough) stories speak to each other, with Melissa Archer speaking about being worried about her future as an actress as she got older/if she became too ingrained as a soap actress and Kim Zimmer feeling like she had to take a gig that was steps down because she was an actress of a certain age who was known only from soaps.
  11. Friends, I have been Barbenheimer-ed. No spoilers (though given the huge box office, it's likely a bunch of you have already seen it lol), but it was super fun seeing Scott Evans (Oliver Fish) on the "Barbie" big screen as one of the Kens. And given the large cast of White Men of a Certain Age, it's kinda surprising a Brian Kerwin or Tuc Watkins or John Brotherton didn't sneak into "Oppenheimer".
  12. So I'm reading spoilers about Carly's new status quo - she's going to be the new owner of Kelly's, which she buys from Bobbie (this was apparently written pre-JZ's death BTW) for a dollar and for which she has big plans. My thoughts are thus: 1) Ugh. 2) Carly being the steward of a Spencer family institution seems wrong. I get she is a Spencer, but she's felt so divorced from that identity for most of her on-screen life. 3) Of course independent, strong Carly needs a man or her mom to hand a business to her. 4) It's almost like a metaphor for the show itself, beloved institution gets Carly's talons in it and slowly morphs into something unrecognizable.
  13. But in the previous scenes when she and Felicia first went to Jackson's office, she gave no indication then she knew who he was and, IIRC, was worried she'd have to flirt with an uggo, she hadn't even seen his picture.
  14. Lucy (to Jackson): You were married to Erica Kane? Again, if Lucy knows who Erica Kane is - which today's dialogue confirmed - she would have known that Jackson is a former Mr. Erica Kane. Did Lucy forget that during one of her delusions of vampires? That idiocy made it all the more satisfying that Jack was like, "You're an extremely public figure, Lucy Coe, it was not hard at all to investigate your ass."
  15. It is surprising how short that switch was, just November to May, not even a whole year. I do like the idea of the swap staying secret for years, but the one downside is that we, the audience, would know that Jess wasn't truly integrated that whole time, which would make watching whatever she got up to a bit messy.
  16. Ah, so one of the newbies is actually a recast of Jane's son Byron: https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/neighbours/a44552188/neighbours-recast-byron-stone-xavier-molyneux/
  17. I always appreciate that the foreign soaps do this, particularly with new families, setting up siblings or children off-screen that could be brought in at any time. But I guess the US soaps were less prone to introduce new families at all (I mean, OLTL's last family were the Fords, who were terrible) so it's more about retconning characters into existing families.
  18. JPL (Rex Balsom) is going back to "Days of our Lives". I feel like I remember that not working out so well for him last time, but...sure? https://www.soapsindepth.com/posts/days-of-our-lives/john-paul-lavoisier-returns-to-days-of-our-lives-as-philip
  19. More ridiculous posturing from Gabby today. Bragging about snagging a big chunk of Kim's money while threatening Caleb? Girl, you didn't put together some flawless scheme, you got pregnant completely by accident and then had to send your grandma in to broker the deal for you. The show really seems to think Gabby is the new Kim, but I ain't seeing it. In other news, this little Clemmie subplot made me realize that I like Dawn more than I thought, she's a solid B-level heroine in these family-type stories.
  20. Gabby is becoming another character who is impossible to feel bad for even when their feelings are valid. She caused this whole mess with Clemmie in the first place and, as Kim pointed out, it's a fuckin' mansion, decamp to the opposite wing from Nicky and cram it for one night. It's kinda funny how warm Kim and Dawn are with each other now given I remember scenes where they were calling up each other whores and the like lol.
  21. Meghann Fahy (Crazy Hannah) got nominated for a supporting actress Emmy today for her work on "The White Lotus".
  22. To belatedly continue my 2017 watch, I decided to jump to the episode where we, the audience, learn this Dee is really an imposter: - So Toadie and Sonya apparently just found out about Willow and are reacting in different ways. I always liked Willow and how she became a daughter to Toadie and family to Sonya anyway down the line and it's sweet to see the seeds here, with Sonya being gentle and apologetic about the paternity test she (and Dee) insist on and then Willow being charmed that Toadie is actually listening to her when she talks about her goals and dreams. - Steph catches Mark in a lie about standing her up for work when he was in fact comforting Sonya. It appears to be the last straw for her amidst Mark and Sonya's growing closeness over the surrogacy as she drops her engagement ring on his desk at work after he rushes off to check in on Sonya again. - Elly and Paige have a little spat when gossipy judgement Elly passes on Dee and Willow hits a little too close to home with Paige re: her pregnancy (Jack is still in the dark and people think David is the father at this point). Elly apologies - and mentions a miscarriage she had with an ex, don't know this history - and the girls agree to be gal pals. - There's also some banter between Elly and Ned, though I don't know if this is before or after they were together. Ned is also doing community service for some crime I don't know about on Jack's church. - Finally, the rapid-fire reveals in the last two minutes - Willow saying she's not Toadie's kid, Dee gleefully explaining how she got a sample from Nelle to use for the paternity test, Willow revealing she's actually two years older than any kid of Toadie and Dee's could be, and then the name-drop - Andrea. It's soapy and great, particularly how Madeleine West starts letting these other notes slip into her performance as the Dee mask she's been wearing drops.
  23. Nice to see Walt Wiley, but he could have been playing any dayplayer lawyer today. We're seriously to believe Lucy would not know who Jackson Montgomery is given Erica Kane is a peer slash competitor of hers, not to mention a fixture in the type of tabloids Ms. Coe would definitely read? Lucy would for sure know Jackson is a former Mr. Erica Kane, it's ridiculous she didn't even mention it off-handedly to Felicia. And why did we spend so little time with Lucy and Jackson and instead watch Felicia snoop through drawers, try multiple file cabinet keys, etc.? In completely other news, my girl Amanda Setton was looking gorge today.
  24. On one hand, shut up Gabby, your resume is hardly free of schemes that involved manipulating peoples' emotions and/or relationships. On the other hand, Nicky, you had to know you wouldn't be welcome, you should have just stuck the card in the mail or approached a less angry party - like Dawn, for example - to pass it on. On yet another hand, shut up Gabby, how many times are you gonna throw a tantrum and blurt out Dawn and Billy's business in front of their kids?
  25. I can see Fillion as Guy (although I'm leery they're already racing to set up a universe instead of just telling a good Superman story, but that's OT). Some additional sunshine through the rain just for me:
