  1. I have skimmed some of the reviews, I haven't read any complete ones since I want to go into the movie and make my own opinions, but, but it sounds like what I suspected it would be since the first trailer came out. They seem to range from "that sucked and I would rather cut my own eyes out than watch it again" at worst, and "It had good elements and was more enjoyable than Batman v Superman, but is also a mess" at best. It really makes no sense, they did so well with Wonder Woman, why cant they do anything else with that level of quality. They've clearly out so many eggs into this basket, and it looks like a few eggs might be rotten. Even worse for DC, the esteemed competition across town have a movie out that is a big commercial and critical success, and has what will almost certainly have two more monster hits coming up. Considering how obvious DC has been in their half assed attempts to be Marvel, its an interesting slice of irony.
  2. I wonder if they could release it the same day Justice league comes out in theaters? I dont think they will, but if they do, that would be the most savage move in the Marvel vs. DC thing yet.
  3. Any episode with Keith David singing is atomically a classic, the fact that the rest of the episode was great was just the cherry on top! I liked seeing Mayas relationship with her mom, and the issues she has with her, and it was sweet that Jimmy was trying so hard to help make her Thanksgiving a happy one and connect her with her mother. I also liked seeing Billy again, even though his life seems to have taken some rather crappy turns. I mean...that hairpiece... I hope we get a continued rivalry between JJ and Taylor's brother, its pretty amazing. As long as it doesn't mess Taylor and Ray up, they really are just perfect for each other. Or, should I call Ray "Raymond"...
  4. JCP MINUS JEFF! Wow, those cell phones! You could break a window with that thing! I thought this was a fun episode, I like that the characters are developing more, especially Beverly. I think I've actually heard that legend about the ET games being buried somewhere. Was it on some cop show? It sounds super familiar. Loved that the Coach and his bother came by! And in watching outfits!
  5. I normally dislike that trope as well, but Cheryl has been kind of friends with the gang since the first season on and off, and she has always had nicer moments here and there, so none of this seems out of characters or a reaction to what happened. Cheryl hasn't had a lot to do this season, so I am glad she got more of a plot this week, even though I am always wary of writing these kinds of stories if it feels like "we need something for this female character to do. Lets throw in sexual assault! Thats something that happens to women, right?" but this seems to be alright so far. This was a really fun episode, I am just super glad that Betty finally told the truth about the Black Hood, and she made up with everyone and turned the tables on her phone stalker! Finally, we can move on from that and get to finding the actual killer. Its obviously up to Betty and the gang to find him, its not like the cops are going to figure it out! I laughed at the parents all freaking out about the kids getting busted for drugs, and then the kids being all pouty while doing community service. It actually looked like a somewhat normal parent reaction, and not just letting the teens run around getting into all kinds of crazy shit without any consequences or parental interest! Also, it was good on Reggie to admit that he was the one to supply the drugs, even though he mom wasn't definitely not thrilled. "You have a dealer?!?!" You have to hand it to the Mayor, she leads her authoritarian crackdowns personally! Kids doing drugs in broad daylight in the south side? It happens. Her daughter and her friends party for a night? ITS ON! You know, the Seapants might not be the main drug dealers, but they arent exactly innocent bystanders here. They do engage in drug deals, and worked as muscle for the Blossoms drug dealing, even helping Mr. Blossom murder his son and cover it up. I get that Jug has a personal connection with them, but its hard to feel so bad for them when they are totally into criminal activity. Not that arresting people just for being in a gang, without any proof of law breaking, isn't morally questionable (especially when they're teenagers), but still. You know, maybe South side High would be a nicer place if someone just TURNED ON A DAMN LIGHT! A drag race! Now this is the shit I signed up for! "Alright kids, I want you all to dress up in your best 1950s outfits!" Its funny, when I saw Cheryl in the trailer starting the race, I was like "yeah, Cheryl was made for this" and, as it turns out, Cheryl totally agrees with me! I can imagine she has had that outfit for years, and has been waiting for this for years. Looks like Archie and Betty both made up with Jughead (in different ways, presumably) after one whole episode of estrangement. Twitter and Tumblr couldn't handle Bughead not being a thing for any longer than a week or there could have been riots in lobby of the CW building. However, it seemed weird that they were just together now. Show us a reunion damn it! I do think Archie had a decent plan and didn't act like a bonehead, so there was that. Archie is having a pretty good season overall, actually. Nick really was a piece of garbage, and I knew as soon as he came back to cackle at Cheryl, he was toast, be it toasted by Cheryl or the Lodges. Honestly, I was convinced that Hiram was actually going to have him beheaded and leave his head in his parents bed after he found out Nick went after Veronica. Loved the whole Lodge family smirking over Nick getting into an "accident" and needing months of help. Say what you will about the Lodges, they do at least care about their daughter.
  6. I wonder if they're going to get a decently well known actor to play Omar, and thats why they didn't show him. Because I get why they didn't show him if maybe they didn't want to show up (to let us make our own guesses on how Omar is) again, but if he ever shows up, why bother not showing him? So this was another Very Special Black-ish, where the episode is mostly about a social issue and less about humor. I mean, those arent awful or anything, and its great that they want to bring attention to important issues, but an ideal episode of Very Special Black-ish has a balance between the issue (like the episode this season about public school) and the humor, and this one was MUCH more heavy on the issue. I also cant help but notice how many old friends and relatives of Dre and Bow tend to pop up in these episodes. Ruby ended up having the best subplot, her constant stories to Junior were a great break from the more depressing A plot.
  7. I laughed my head off when the great grandma blew up, and then felt like a bad person. Then I laughed again. That happens a lot with this show. Maybe having the new house and their comatose grandpa around will give the season a bit more momentum.
  8. Honey and her drunk not memories were pretty amazing. I also really enjoyed the brothers all having a plot, and keeping them all likable. I like when they all have a plot together. The Barney Incident was a perfect weird thing to bring up.
  9. I also enjoyed this exchange between Sara and DD when they were about to sword fight: Damien: "I dont need magic to kill you" Sara: "Funny, thats what Oliver Queen said before he killed you." I just imagine Oliver and Sara Skyping in the Waverider, laughing about all the bad guys who`s asses they've kicked. "You should have seen it Ollie, Julius Caesar had the funniest expression when I roundhouse kicked him!" As for Helen of Troy being blond, I always assumed it was because early central European artists couldn't imagine a woman who want a blond with blue eyes and a light complexion being the hottest hottie ever. Now everyone just pictures her looking that way. Of course, there are blond people in Greece, so I assume they existed back then too, so who knows what she was originally pictured as?
  10. I swear, I sometimes think the LoT writers create their episodes by throwing darts on a dartboard. "Alright guys, the first dart landed on Old Hollywood, lets see what the next dart lands on" *throws dart* "It landed on Helen of Troy! Lets get writing!" I say this as a compliment, because I love how LoT can take these wacky, bizarre stories, and make them really work, and give the characters real development and pathos. And they can can make an episode focused around the female members of the team and just have them kick ass without any awkward #feminism catchphrases. They just have them doing awesome thing like they do every week! I love this show so much y'all. I want to sing its praises through song and dance.
  11. Themyscira! Awesome! Just the cherry on top of an amazing episode! So the Amazons are now cannon in the Arrowverse which is just about the greatest thing ever. I love this show so much, it fills me with such glee, especially when you add on the prospect of Amazons. Add in Helen of Troy and old Hollywood, and you have an episode practically made for my personal enjoyment! As many others have said, this was such a better Girl Power episode then the Flash episode last week. And I liked the Flash episode! It didn't need to make a big deal about it being focused on the female members of the team, it just WAS about mostly the female members of the team. Who kick ass every week, so this isn't that huge of a change. Honestly there were so many great moments, I cant even list them all, but I am sure as hell gonna try! Jax and Martin switching places was a ton of fun, and I am thrilled they're giving Victor a lot of fun stuff to do before he leaves. Victor and Franz did a great job being each other, especially with their facial expressions. There were a few times when Victor would do an expression that was so Jax I was actually taken aback. I also laughed super hard at "I appear to be...African American..." and Jax as Martin is just like "You can say black Grey" in a tone that says "You share a literal brain with a black guy, your allowed to say black, man." They are always such a great duo. They're bond is so weird and adorable. The team works really well in the early to mid 20th century, their energy and look works really well in that era. They all look GREAT in the clothes of that era, especially this episode. The gang was looking great in their 30s Hollywood outfits! I also just generally love Glden Age Hollywood, there is so much to explore, and having Helen of Troy accidently almost start a war between studioes is weird but weirdly appricpriate. Shit was crazy between the studioes back then! Also loved Cecil B DeMile telling Ray that he should be in pictures! BR really does have a very old Hollywood handsome kind of look, doesent he? Poor sweet Ray would get destroyed in the Hollywood studio system though. I mean, everyones acting all shocked that Hollywood has tons of fucked up stuff happening behind closed doors, but it has ALWAYS been like that! If anything, it was probably worse back in the studio system days! Captain Sara being awesome as always. I enjoyed both the smaller scenes, like her telling Nate to take a damn shower and grounding the guys to the ship, to the bigger things like beating the crap out of DD, and her reaction to his possible deal. Her expression after was an impressive mix of "I am planning all the many ways I can kill you with just this dress" and "Can I risk my team to stop this guy?" Without Sara around, who knows what the gang will do? Hedy was an awesome guest star, and I love how much emphasis they put on her smarts. Of course shes Martins Hall Pass. "I like older men..."
  12. I LOVE a good Jake and Amy episode, and this one completely delivered. I just love how the show has found a way to make them work as a couple, and keep their stories both funny and sweet. Too many sitcoms will have all their couple related story lines filled with stupid misunderstandings and jealousy and constant mean "jokes" towards each other. Then they break up and get back together three hundred times until the finale where they end up together again, despite often having nothing in common and not even liking each other much. With Jake and Amy, even though they're opposites in many ways, you can totally see how they work together, and their plots are usually about them working as a team or dealing with couple stuff in relatable but funny ways. I think my favorite thing though is how much they clearly love and appreciate each others quirks and passions, even if they dont fully get it themselves. Like with Jake asking if they can wrap their flowers in crossword puzzles and Amy getting a Die Hard cake. They're just so adorable! Even though I do wish they had gotten their perfect wedding. It was fun to see The Vulture again, and I am glad they told the charity lady the truth about what a dick he is. The other plots were good too, and I like how they tied together at the end with Terry throwing a party for Charles. "Its finally happening!!!"
  13. I wonder if the next episode will have Kate being understandably devastated by the miscarriage, and at the end of the episode, Kevin overdoses on drugs and is in the hospital. Then Randall will be running around in a panic trying to keep his family together while beating himself up about not realizing that his brother was falling apart, trying to be strong for Kate, and trying not to have a total meltdown.
  14. I laughed pretty hard at the whole opening sequence with the mugger trying to rob Ralph and Barry. For one thing, why do muggers even exist in this city anymore? You seem to have a good 70% chance of mugging someone with super powers or ninja training something. And for another, I am basically convinced that the entire city knows that Barry is The Flash, they're just too polite to actually say anything. They think the fact that Barry thinks he is being sneaky is adorable.
  15. Yeah, Kevin was definitely bratty as a teen, probably due to a weird combination of cockiness and low self esteem, but I still felt for him when he broke his leg, and later when he was breaking down on the doctors lawn. He has always been stuck in a cycle of making bad choices due to his self worth issues, and now it seems like this is the culmination of a life of screw ups. He has always put so much of his self worth on his athletic ability or his looks, that he has never grown to like himself as a person. I can tell this will be a polarizing episode, based around how much you like Kevin. I do like Kevin, and I think this was a great episode for him. I am pretty much totally convinced now that this arc will end with Kevin ODing at a family function or something, with Randall or Kate finding him. Maybe before the Winter or season finale I also laughed really hard when, as jack was yelling at Kevin, he was like "get out of my sight!" then when Kevin started to leave, he was like "get back here!". It seems like a very parental moment.
  16. Damn, even Kevin's drug addled meltdowns get upstaged by his siblings stuff. Not that its Kate's fault or anything, it just sucks that its all happening at once. Kevin certainly has a point about how no one can really see him. The guy looks like an extra on The Walking Dead, and no one seems to notice, or care. No one is going to realize whats going on until he ODs in the finale or something. How did that doctor NOT see that Kevin was drunk and strung out when she slept with him? Even if she is a plastic surgeon, she should be able to tell! At least Kevin didn't go party with high schoolers. Now THAT is a real low point. I think the tears started when Kevin was getting to the stage, and saw his coach as Jack. Oh good lord.
  17. I gotta say, I think Ralph has a lot of potential. He will hopefully dial back on the sleazy now (the comments about women's bra sizes seems REALLY bad in light of recent events) but it was nice seeing him realize being a hero was a serious commitment, and it was nice of him to send that artifact to the tribe it came from and how hard he was hit by people getting hurt. I think its a good idea to have a character here who is really different than the other characters and doesn't automatically click with everyone, and has a different power set. Plus, the actor is just naturally very likable, and I like his relationship with Barry. Its nice to see Barry being sort of a mentor. The Counsel of Wells was pretty amusing, and you can tell this is Cavanaghs dream job. I especially enjoyed pretentious German Wells who dresses like Steve Jobs. And Cisco got to give him a speech about loving yourself, which was pretty sweet. I admit I giggled a lot when Harry mentioned calling his friends, and Cisco was just like "we know literally all of your friends" and everyone was nodding in agreement. I liked Nina, and I hope that she can come back and maybe learn her lesson about fighting the good fight without murdering people with statues. Her goal was pretty admirable, but how she went about it was WAY too far. Its kind of funny that for all Brain Guy created the bus metas for his evil means, these metas are significantly less evil than the particle accelerator metas.
  18. Poor Jaime is just having a seriously crappy time of it. His nephew is kidnapped, cant stand on a ship without puking, his adopted son is marrying his bitchy step daughter, his buddy almost gets thrown off the boat, and now he has to go fight pirates or something. This episode REALLY makes me want to go back and watch Black Sails again. That show was so freaking awesome. Anyway, I thought it was a decent episode, but I like boats so that helps. Wow, Marseli really is a bunny brewer off the old block isn't she? Why does Fergus even like her, doesn't he have other options for women? I do like seeing Jaime in Dad mode, you can almost hear him saying "Damn it Fergus, I will drag your French ass back to Scotland if you dont stop this! Dont think I wont turn this boat around!". Claire was being pretty unnecessarily hostile to the captain this week wasn't she? I mean, she was more justified later when the crew was about to make a guy walk the plank, but why was she giving him shit earlier? Yeah its great that shes a 20th century woman of science, but she knows how people are about their cultures and traditions, so why be so judgmental? At that point it wasn't hurting anyone, so who cares?
  19. This was a really great stand alone episode, and I love when they get more into the cosmic side of the show and Lucifer's demonic nature. I like the mystery/cop stuff, but its the combination of procedural and supernatural that makes the show really unique for me, so this kind of episode is right up my ally. I thought the episode was starting out strange, and I continued to think "this episode seems off somehow" throughout. Then, when Dan and Lucifer were being really snippy towards each other, with Lucifer calling him Detective Deuche again instead of Daniel, it hit me that we must be in the past, but it took me until the end to realize we were in this guys personal Hell. I thought it was a cool twist, and one that cant be done on any other cop show. Actually, Reese is an interesting counterpoint to Dan, considering how Dan resented Lucifer and blamed him for everything in the past. Remember the murder knife episode, where Dan got the knife and almost killed Lucifer because he blamed him for everything wrong in his life? However, unlike Reese, Dan realized that he was to blame to blame for his own problems, and is now trying to be a better person and fix his own problems. I wonder if there are different levels of Hell for different sinners? Some end up in this kind of Groundhog Day Hell, while others get more of the fire and pokers and such? Or maybe behind every monster in history, theres just some asshole still convinced, in their core, that they were the good guys all along and that it was someone elses fault that they killed hundreds or thousands of people, or what they did was somehow justified. Still not enough Maze for my liking, even though I guess I will have to be happy with my one little scene for now. Maybe people like that, who are too broken or sick that they cant even understand what they did was wrong or have no ability to feel guilt, or except from Hell, on the grounds that their evil wasn't really their fault? I wonder if that might be the category this serial killer guy falls into? He really truly seemed to think his killings were justified, and was furious when he found out he was manipulated into almost killing an honest man, and accidentally killing a random person. He might be too out of his mind to even comprehend what he did. Who knows?
  20. I chuckled at how everyone on the ship just kind of goes with Lorca`s clear and obvious ignoring of orders, and even enjoys it a bit. When he was ordered to come home and started his "well, it sure would suck if we couldn't make it in time...." everyone else just started nodding, like "yeah, so many unfortunate things could happen to keep us from following these orders..." *wink* Of course, ignoring orders from Star Fleet to run off and do something probably dangerous and pigheaded because the Captain thinks its the Right Thing to Do, and then everything getting rewarded for it, is classic Trek in any incarnation.
  21. That was an awesome finale, and made me super pumped to see what happens next in January! This show started off rather clunky, but I think when Michael got onto the Discovery onward, things have been getting better and better and the cast and characters have really started to work well. Its definitely different than much of Trek, but it also has enough Trek staples to show its still a a prt of the same series. Its certainly darker than most people associate with classic Trek, but the rest of the series, going back to TOS, was never all happy rainbows and butterflies either. If Ash is Voq, he must be some kind of sleeper agent with false, human memories, because no way could a Klingon like Voq so accurately show signs of PTSD, especially around other Klingons. I like the theory that Voqs contentiousness is inside his head, and it was put in during his torture, and its just now coming out, and will eventually try to take over Ashs personality. That means they can have their Klingon twist while also keeping Ash the character. I thought his PTSD was really well done (especially considering how strong of a front he has put up) and I honestly find the story of Ash dealing with being a survivor or months of torture and rape to be much more interesting than any alien conspiracy theories. Damn it, as soon as Paul started talking about not jumping anymore and spending time with Culmets, I knew he was in trouble! The two of them were great this week (although Culmets probably shouldn't be his doctor), and that kiss made me all happy inside. Trek has certainly come a long way since Whoopie Goldburg had to guilt trip the writers of TNG to simply acknowledge that LGBTQ people actually exist! I also liked his interactions with Lorca, and trying to figure out how much was real, and how much was manipulation. Its always hard to tell with Lorca, if its just manipulation or earnestness. Maybe he did really want to use this tech for exploration, but he ALSO needed Paul to get behind his new plan. I do think it was nice when he said he wanted to give his medal to Paul, and I think there was something sincere in that, even if there was even more manipulation. Still, it was nice seeing them more on the same page. Speaking of Lorca, I thought he might know what area of space he wanted to get dumped into, but he seemed really surprised by where they went, so who knows? Also, I loved Lorca putting in his eye drops so he can fully see the explosions! He needs a full screen view of those bastards exploding. Yea, Cornwall is still alive! She was badly hurt this week, but was still kickass, firing off phasers and talking Ash out of his PTSD breakdown. Glad she made it out before...whatever happened happened. Could we have ended up in the...mirror universe?!?! Maybe trying into that creepy Paul reflection we saw earlier this season?
  22. Evil AI taking over the world is bad, but you know what is worse? That lousy stupid Terry and his many Instagram likes! We know your up to something Terry! If I had an AI running my building, I would probably want to have my own intro music too. Leroy is just the best.
  23. Yeah, I will give them that. They do seem to be throwing in a few more Disney references lately, like last week when Rogers was dragging in some bad guy and said he had been drunk and disorderly at Pleasure Island Burlesque House or something, and he said that the place turned everyone into Jackasses. That was funny.
  24. Well, that was silly. At least we`ll always have Lockjaw!
