  1. I’m genuinely struck by some of the responses here, especially from those who also read the book. He nearly died and he acknowledges that the reason was because of something he did in terms of his drug use. That he has to live with the fact his mother and rest of his family had to hear doctors say he had less than a 2% chance to live. He’s rarely been able to string two years sober together at a time without relapsing. He’s honest about how the disease of addiction has a hold on him and that he will never be without it, even if he’s able to maintain sobriety. He’s spent nearly 9 million dollars on rehabs and treatment, and acknowledges the irony that someone who should have felt at the top of the world was spiraling behind the scenes despite fame and money (also, not that this should matter, but his addictions issues started long before he was ever cast on Friends). He’s lost his teeth and had to have implants done. Anyone who has watched his interviews can hear that his speech is off (not as bad as the Friends reunion which was right after dental surgery, but his enunciation is still off). His past struggles on set (movie sets being shut down due to his actions, showing up high on the set of The Odd Couple, etc.) don’t exactly make him a hot property for Hollywood to take a chance on. I’m not sure how anyone could read his book and have their takeaway be that he’s attempting to relaunch his career. He has been very clear that the reason he wrote this book was to reach and possibly help others who struggle with addiction. And the idea that he, or anyone else, “got himself into a drug problem” just shows a shocking lack of understanding of what a disease addiction is. Having lost people close to me who dealt with addiction throughout their lives, these kinds of comments come across as unnecessarily callous. Did I think the book is clunky and cringeworthy at times? Absolutely. He didn’t have a ghostwriter, and it shows (the Keanu Reeves references alone are deeply unfortunate/uncomfortable and should have been tagged by an editor at the very least). I can completely understand not enjoying the book or thinking it’s poorly executed. But I don’t understand how someone can see everything he’s been through and sneer at it. The fact that he’s still breathing is frankly nothing short of a miracle.
  2. I understand why he would back out (either the rumors about the lack of respect toward the source material or simply getting a higher paycheck from film commitments as Superman seem decent enough reasons), but Liam Hemsworth is just the wrong replacement for this. He had neither the grit or gravitas that Cavill has in this role. I beyond cannot picture it, and I think they really shot themselves in the foot with this casting change. Looks like the show will end with Season 3 for me.
  3. I am almost certain Gorn got shot almost immediately on screen as the battle in the vault started. Went down very quickly. Cassian shooting Skeen, practically, made a lot of sense to me. Skeen made it clear that splitting the credits in half would make him "forget" Cassian's face. He doesn't have a real name, but he does have Cassian's description and other details, and could have easily ratted Cassian and Vel out if he thought it would save his own skin.
  4. That took me right out of the episode. Could not see Bob doing that - it’s just so out of character. Park it across the street to show her, or at home, but to leave it in the ambulance lane? And blast the horn? And ignore multiple requests to move it? Come on, now.
  5. I have to say I’m really loving The Deep Dive with June Diane Raphael and Jessica St. Clair. It really runs the gamut in terms of topics and they have on some great guests. It’s honestly a very empowering podcast and reminds me of some of the conversational deep dives I have with my own group of friends.
  6. One of the best Emmy moments I’ve seen. So happy for her.
  7. This was a Ru-shenanigans episode if there ever was one. In no way did Chakra and Donna outperform Poppy and Chic-La-Fey.
  8. I am so thrilled by this announcement. SO excited to see her in this role.
  9. Well, now we officially know how they're dealing with Murray in Season 10
  10. My roommate and I thought Electra and Jackie were solidly the bottom two - but if Jackie is who we think, we figured the producers wouldn’t let them be eliminated on a night Carson wasn’t on the judging panel. I’ll be very surprised if Jackie makes it past next week.
  11. I definitely interpreted that as her just trying to save face with Kenicke.
  12. I agree with you on those. Chakra 7 is almost certainly Tatiana Ali, and Chic-Li-Fay is DEFINITELY Kevin McHale from Glee. Pretty sure that Donna Bellissima is Damien from Mean Girls, and Milli Von Sunshine I think may be Jenna Ushkowitz, but the makeup made it very hard to tell on that one, so I'm less sure there. The only one I'm flummoxed on is Electra Owl. I enjoyed it, but I also think the format needs tweaking. Masked Singer there's no way to know who someone is until they reveal themselves, but even in full drag some folks are distinguishable. Loretta Devine still looked like herself, but even without that, the SECOND she opened her mouth to speak you knew who she was. I'm not sure why they aren't taking pains to disguise their voices, etc. as well.
  13. Just read I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy last night (former actress of iCarly and Sam & Cat). It was a great memoir, though difficult at times reading about the abuse she went through at the hands of her mother. Funny and searing. Definitely recommend it.
  14. It's part of their Collectors edition line - they've done things like The Office, the members of KISS, RuPaul's Drag Race, Golden Girls, and Lord of the Rings in the past.
  15. If you’re referring to the geodesic dome folks, I agree. Not only that, but it didn’t even seem they were truly on the show because they thought the house was ugly, the husband seemed to imply they’d entered just to hopefully get money for updates/upkeep. The husband certainly still seems very enamored with it. They rent out the other two domes, I assume to tourists. While I don’t think they’ll ultimately be chosen for the money and the makeover, I don’t think they should have qualified for the show, much less been chosen as a finalist.
  16. I think both actors do well with what they were given, but at the same time the rest of the movie is so beautifully crafted that I almost wish the characters were excised entirely and the focus had been on the actual real life passengers. I know Cameron wanted an anchor for the audience to root for and care about, but there were so many actual folks on board whose stories could have been featured instead. The brief shot of the Straus couple together in bed as the water rushes in, for example, is more affecting to me than anything between Rose and Jack.
  17. I also got the giggles at Jack's death scene (I'm sorry, I couldn't help it, and I did *try* to muffle the giggles, but my sister was absolutely gaga for the guy - we shared a room at the time and she had THE POSTER of them on the staircase prominently displayed, etc., so I was doubly cracking up sitting next to her while she was absolutely DISTRAUGHT) and someone threw a soda at me (thankfully, not much left in it, and their aim was terrible) 😆 . Ahh, memories. I loved (and continue to love) the film, but almost in spite of the romance storyline between Rose and Jack. I was obsessed with the backstory of the Titanic when I was younger, and the stories of the actual passengers was far more interesting to me, so that's where my focus is on subsequent rewatches.
  18. She’s on “civilian exchange from the Stanford Morehouse Epigenics Project” - mentioned by M’Benga to Pike before they get into the genetic alterations for the landing party in the first episode.
  19. Posted this under the Fast Foodies thread, but posting here as well since Justin competed in the last season of Tournament of Champions - Justin was in a massive boating accident over the holiday weekend and is now in the hospital. While it looks like he'll make a full recovery, he doesn't have health insurance, and his family has started a GoFundMe: Justin Sutherland GoFundMe From the site: On Sunday, July 3rd, like many Minnesotans, Justin was enjoying a day off, boating on the water with friends. Of course, he was the "Captain" and of course, he had to wear an official captain's hat. While piloting his boat, Justin’s hat blew off. He tried to grab it, hit a wave, and was knocked off the boat. He fell into the water near the motor, and the propeller did a number on his head and left arm. His arm is broken, but his grip remains strong and there appears to be no nerve damage. His jaw is severely broken, but doctors are optimistic that with several more surgeries he will be grinning in no time. In addition to his broken bones, he sustained many lacerations, but with plastic surgery, they will become a reminder of his survival story. The great news is, he is going to be fine. With some time, he will possibly be better than fine. He is adding more character to the face we know and love, and the most important news, his beard is intact. Justin is currently in the hospital and set to be there for some time, having had many surgeries so far and facing many more to come.

  21. B Positive Canceled Thank god…what a shell of itself it was this season, and what a waste of a cast. Hope everyone can land better projects for themselves.
  22. Mythic Quest: F. Murray Abraham Exits Ahead of Season 3 — But Why? The cryptic nature of his exit reads a bit concerning to me.
  23. Leslie actually did do drag when he was very young, as Miss Baby Wipes - he talks about it in his book (a fun read). Here’s an article that touches on it as well: https://bittersoutherner.com/southern-perspective/2020/beforetv-leslie-jordan-was-miss-baby-wipes
