  1. I work for a top level university and I would tell ANYONE who has a kid looking at college to seriously consider the two year community college route and then transfer to a four year to finish a BA/BS. It’s insanely cheaper, you can usually get your general requirements out of the way, and no one looking at jobs (unless you are in a VERY specialized field) will care you went anywhere else - your diploma would still ultimately read the four year university. My father did the community college route and was given free ride offers to almost every Ivy when he left. There is a massive stigma regarding cc’s and it’s incredible to me that folks will drop 250K and put themselves in massive debt to come to a school like ours - while we are good, it’s not like you are getting a education THAT much different than you would otherwise (certainly not at that price point, and I say this as both an admin an an alum). Frankly, I’d put many of my father’s former cc professors ahead of ours in the rigors of their coursework (we still keep in touch). This whole storyline just makes me angry.
  2. My family couldn’t be more different than the Roys, but damn this hit home. My father died extremely suddenly a decade ago and this called up so many flashbacks I cried throughout the episode. Superbly acted by everyone. They absolutely nailed what it’s like to have to triage an event like this, and the sibling dynamic was spot on. Even the gallows humor moments…this was an utterly fantastic piece of television.
  3. And my concern has been they might kill Talos off! Here’s hoping both survive lol.
  4. Am loving this season so far. Sondheim/Kander & Ebb, etc. tend to be more my jam, and all the Fosse references were delightful. And I love Titus as the narrator. I think Aaron’s character is supposed to be a mashup from Pippin/Hair/Godspell. I cracked up at the hand puppet. I also cracked up at that random Bye Bye Birdie reference in the jail. Loved that. Dove Cameron would make an excellent Sally Bowles.
  5. Looking at the first airing episodes, it looks like they are moving at least some of the previous Fast Foodies episodes to Food Network from TruTV. However, it was implied by the announcement on Justin’s instagram that there will also be new episodes. So maybe the repeats are to lure in those who haven’t seen it previously? Thank god, Justin seems to be making an incredible recovery. I’m sure he’s still got a long road ahead of him, but I know he’s had posts of himself cooking again and he’d been making the rounds for a cookbook he did. Cannot believe how much he has improved since that accident. After hearing about the initial injuries, he’s honestly lucky to be alive.
  6. Selleck and Wahlburg are the biggest name draws from an audience standpoint. I could see them literally set fire to the house with all other characters inside before they got rid of either of those two, lol, unless they themselves were ready to move on.
  7. I had purchased Acqua Alta on a whim right before a trip to Italy in 2019 and loved it - when the pandemic began, I went on eBay and bought a giant lot of Donna Leon books and started reading the series from the beginning. Absolutely love those books.
  8. Lance Reddick has passed away.
  9. Lance Reddick has passed away.
  10. Every single part of this. It made no sense to me and was just plot contrivance after plot contrivance.
  11. It is on Freevee. I’ve been doing a rewatch through Amazon Prime. Enjoying it immensely.
  12. I can understand why you and others may not want to see some of those elements unfold on screen. But my issue stems from the fact that Young Sheldon is derived directly from the life and characters laid down by TBBT. I would be interested in a sitcom about a family who has a super-genius son and is dealing with everyday life. But that’s not this show, and I feel like the writers keep trying to have it both ways and coming up short for both parties.
  13. I’m deeply frustrated with the writers dancing around this. It’s canon that George was chronically unfaithful. It’s not a misunderstanding based on the hazy memories of youth. I don’t know if it’s because they like the actor and are hesitant to go this route because of it, or what, but I really hate how they’ve handled this storyline. The fact that they are doing the whole thing with Pastor Rob and Mary also irks me, because it comes across like the show is trying give George an excuse for eventually cheating. People are three dimensional, and I’m fine with exploring that, but the show writers seem like they’re really trying to avoid one of the key historical facts of this family, which is very aggravating. “They keep meeting secretly in the chicken coop, but nothing has actually happened between them!” Come on, show.
  14. RRR is absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended viewing. It really is an “epic” in the best possible way.
  15. Trejo doing Vanjie was far and away the funniest part of the episode. LOVED that.
  16. Uncoupled Picked Up By Showtime Saved by Showtime!
  17. I think part of is the overall lack of films being released in comparison to pre-pandemic. I’ve been going to the movies weekly and seen some truly odd selections for the previews. Last week a romantic comedy I was seeing had Cocaine Bear and horror films for previews. Sometimes seems like studios are just throwing out everything and hoping something sticks with the audience.
  18. The statues were just statues. The initial fire was fueled from when she destroyed the bar and lit the liquor on the floor on fire, which carried up and lit the rest of the bar remnants.
  19. His partner mentioned having watched him in DS9 and in Will & Grace. Leslie did have a brief appearance in DS9 in an episode as a Ferengi character, so that was probably what he was referencing, though it’s not one of his most memorable roles by any stretch.
  20. Four people died from the outbreak and over 650 were sickened. It was definitely the final nail in the coffin for them. Though I believe some products bearing their brand name still exist on grocery shelves, and they had some restaurants overseas until this year.
  21. That’s wonderful that has worked for you and your friends. However, the idea that because it works for you, it works that way for everyone else with addiction issues, simply isn’t true. I’ve had many in my life who the 12 steps has done wonders for. Many for whom it has not. He’s not forcing anyone to purchase this book. He’s not selling services or a miracle cure. I’m not sure how him publishing his own personal experiences with addiction is a commercial enterprise.
