  1. Wow, I was impressed with Ronan Farrow. I'm a new viewer and hadn't seen him before. Imagine my surprise when I looked him up and find out his parents are Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, and he's a Rhodes Scholar, and he went to Yale Law School, and he worked with Secretary of State Clinton, and he's all of 29. I especially liked that he dissed NBC for not reporting the Weinstein story first. This is a big part of the problem; companies/networks/publications didn't report on it earlier due to potential retaliation. I hope that culture is changing.
  2. Wow, I was impressed with Carla Bruni. I especially loved that she seemed so respectful of her First Lady of France position, such as she seemed surprised that anyone would ever consider taking something from the presidential palace. As I think she said, it's not mine, it's the people's. What a refreshing concept. And she recorded "Highway to Hell?" That's crazy! I'm definitely going to listen to her album. And on the Housewives side, I loved how Carla casually mentions David Foster's name and Yolanda has to just sit there silently seething. Heh. And I was wondering if anyone explained what "pleading the fifth" meant. She was a great guest.
  3. I loved when Leslie broke during Kate's wedding speech. It wasn't even as if she were trying to suppress the laughter, it looked for a split second as if she forgot she was in sketch and was just enjoying the zaniness of Kate. This makes me wonder how different the dress rehearsal is from the live show. My immediate thought when Sasheer started her WU bit was that she was trying to follow in the footsteps of Leslie, which of course is ironic because Sasheer was on camera first. I agree with the poster above that her delivery was very non-descript. I feel badly for Sasheer because there was such hype when she came on the show, but now there's more talk about Leslie. And I don't know the timing of personnel, but was Leslie a writer before they hired Sasheer? If so, it seems odd no one noticed that Leslie has a wonderful persona that translates well on television. But I'm glad she's on now.
  4. Right now I enjoy this non-shrieking, non-ugly American in an obviously lesser land show. We'll see how long this lasts. I understand the reason Kyle is fine with trying to make Portia a TV/movie actress. Your opinions are based on what you know and how you've lived, and Kyle is obviously familiar with child actors. I just don't think she is sophisticated enough to realize it's a different world now than it was 30 years ago, specifically all the media. I wouldn't have a strong enough skin to withstand all the criticism directed towards my child. I think part of being a good parent is shielding your child from unnecessary hurt, regardless if the child thinks she really wants it. I know a lot of viewers are tired of all the leaving for college drama, but I do believe that these are authentic feelings. Unfortunately only those who are experiencing it right this second can empathize with it. If it hasn't happened to you, you just don't get it, and if you have experienced it you tend to forget the feelings pretty fast. I think it's just bad timing that a lot of the kids are leaving for college at the same time. But I do believe it is a big part of the ladies' lives right now and it's fair to show it. I thought Kyle was quite gracious in regards to the Mother of the Bride dress. She said she liked it, without real conviction. Now that's how you do it Little Kathy. I too didn't know that Eileen was married to Vince Van Patten. I heard someone mention Van Patten in an earlier episode but I didn't know the reference, so like in many other areas of my life, I just glossed over it. I love watching people I've heard about. This is the reason I watch. Harry Hamlin, Vince Van Patten, will Leif Garrett be showing up next?
