  1. If you say so. You seem less than OK with my and GB's differing opinion with the reviewer. I agree. The reviewer gushes about how great the leads are and how interesting the teenagers are, how FtWD shows the early days of the outbreak when the main show "slept through it"... Where is that show because it's not Fear the Walking Dead. The teenagers are annoying and boring, Kim and Cliff aren't good in this show, and it skipped over large chunks of the important parts of the early outbreak which resulted in not learning anything new after all.
  2. ^ Oh, FFS! They want confirmation Beth is dead? So having half her brain get launched through her skull wasn't proof enough, or that no one at the HOSPITAL including the DOCTOR moved to try to help Beth after she fell to the floor because it was screamingly obvious she was dead? If they want a statement about Beth then I get one about Jim and Axel. They died first so I get mine first. (Barf. Those nutters have a raging case of SSS - Special Snowflake Syndrome.)
  3. This. I've seen the Bethyl and related threads at spoilthedead and they're fucking insane. They're the same nutters who called the people who brought us Beth's death spoiler lairs and haters and demanded that their spoiler board should be shut down, who said Beth was killed off because Scott Gimple must have sexually harassed EK and she rejected him and so he fired her as retaliation. Those wackjobs aren't a ringing endorsement of the Beth fandom. Oh, and SPOONS. As for staying in their little bubble because of fear of what will happen when they venture out, maybe they should stop acting like fools, then no one would make fun of them.
  4. I think the main characters of Sleepy Hollow are more appealing than the creepy whiners of Gracepoint, the casting is better in SH (comparing the two roles, Nicole Beharie acted circles around Anna Gunn) and, taking away the supernatural stuff, the police work in SH is superior to that of Gracepoint. At least the SH people DO police work. Gracepoint's police are just a farce and it took an outsider to get anything done, and even he screwed things up.

  6. Constantinople, I never thought of it that way. That sneaky bastard. He's evil like Bert is evil.
  7. With no limitations, an expansion to 13 episodes per season for 8 or 9 seasons would probably be as far as the series can go before the shark tank gets wheeled in. So the new guy is going to play "Malko" A Summer Islander? Someone from Dorne? Areo Hotah was already cast.
  8. If seeing Darth Vader in Disney on Ice gets GRRM to write faster, more power to him!
  9. I just hope the new series will have a team of writers who aren't afraid to pull the trigger on key characters. I want the threat of a grisly death to always be there and not just be background noise. Topic? Beth is still dead.
  10. 1) "redshirt" is perfectly fitting for Beth. She was just an overglorified redshirt. 2) Those same Beth/Daryl romance fans who were making fun of Twilight were posting their own Beth/Daryl fantasies, fanfics, and blog posts and plot suggestions with the same kinds of poorly written treacle as Twilight. They're Twihards in spirit. 3) As for the concerns of young girls, I would have loved to have seen more from Sophia, Mika, and Lizzie. We never got to know Amy. I would have loved to have seen more from Beth if a better actress had been cast to play her. Emily Kinney is a weak actress and I was tired of watching her lurch through her scenes and now i'm glad she's gone. 4) I'm not going to hand out cookies for people who are "standing up for something" when I think that something is stupid. As far as I'm concerned civil rights being trampled on is an injustice, not a fictional redshirt getting killed off of a zombie apocalypse show. I'll save my cookies for those protesting real problems in the world.
  11. I could just as easily say that EK was a crybaby diva on set and they killed her off because they were sick of her antics and can now finally have some peace and quiet. That would make more sense than some bullshit NR/EK hookup drama but less sense than the fact that she was a temporary character and they were planning to kill her off all along. If they meant to keep her they would have cast a teenager to play the part, not someone who was almost 30 and would soon look too old for the part.
  12. She was just a plot device. That's all she ever was and all she was ever meant to be. Gimple straight up said so. She got a brief highlight so the audience would care when she was killed off but she was always just a plot device. Just like so many other characters on this show.
  13. Deaths for "no reason"?: Dale, Merle, Axel, T-Dog, Jim, Milton, Amy, Jenner, Andrea, dozens of others. Deaths to serve another character's storyline?: Lori, Lizzie, Bob, Ed, Sophia, Martinez, David, Karen, Mika, Hershel, Dawn, Randall, Michonne's baby, orange backpack guy, various villains and dozens of others. (Feel free to take some from column A and put them in column B and vice-versa depending on how you see the character.). Senseless death or to serve another character's story? Either way Beth ain't special. She was just another in a long line. Someone on another forum put forth the idea that Beth's death wasn't there to fuel anybody's manpain but to serve as the tipping point of loss for the entire family, and to further development of Daryl inside Carol's story and not in a sexual or romantic relationship kind of way. Beth is just another dead girl, like Sophia, like Mika, like Lizzie, and Daryl was put on the other side of the Carol-Daryl dynamic from when Sophia stumbled out of that barn so he understands better what Carol has been going through with the losses of those girls and can better support her with coping with those deaths instead of just following her around like a forlorn puppy. It was also suggested that her loss immediately after a peaceful negotiation might harden the group as a whole, "we should have just killed them all", and make it more difficult for them as individuals and collectively to integrate into a more "civilized" community should they come across one.
  14. Rick is like the Jessica Fletcher of the zombie apocalypse. People who are acquainted with Fletcher end up dead. People who end up in Rick's orbit end up dead or their camps blown to hell. I understand bringing Noah with them for the hostage exchange. Rick knew Dawn's position was precarious and if they needed cooperation from the wards and the good cops, them seeing Noah being treated well and not held prisoner by Rick's group would have helped. Stupid Beth. If only she had waited. If she needed to make a speech she could have turned to the other cops and wards and asked them if they wanted Dawn to continue to hold them hostage or if they wanted to do something to make their lives better by deposing Dawn. In that scene Beth was the first one to physically attack, had Dawn shot her on purpose she would have been almost justified since it could have been self defense.
