Racj82, I agree about Teddy Dunn - I don't find him terrible at all. He's not as good as the others, certainly, but I've seen a lot worse. Plus I'm not sure his character is supposed to be as charismatic as Logan. I didn't watch this show at the time (not sure it was on in the UK, tbh) so I had no idea what the consensus was on him. I do find the extensive criticism a bit jarring though. And the breakup worked for me too.

Have to agree with this point, that several others also made. Archie needs to be more connected to the crazy storylines. I know less than nothing about American football but at least there's potential for drama there, unlike the snoozy music stuff. On another note, Cheryl's makeup is so distracting! I can't stop staring at her overdone lipstick when she's on screen. Who wears that much to school? Or at all even?

I quite enjoyed this episode, whereas the first three had me rolling my eyes at some of the dialogue. It just seemed too try-hard, and as others have pointed out, really tonally inconsistent. This was better. I still think it's a bit weird how they're pushing a 50s vibe, but hey, I can try to overlook it. I agree with this. I thought it was quite well done overall, they made it fairly clear that the Grundy/Archie relationship was wrong even if Archie didn't believe it to be. I also agree that his dad probably thought it was better for him that she just leave town and not put his son through a big scandal. It was fairly obvious from the moment that Betty found the real ID that she would have some fleeing an abusive ex story, and I think there's room to say either she's lying or telling the truth about that. Nevertheless, it was clear at the end that she was eyeing up the other teenage boys (nice Lolita sunglasses!). Wonder if we'll see her again... Betty was a bit stupid though, taking the gun - why on earth would she do that? And she must know her mother's a nosy bitch by now, seeing as how she specifically called out her diary, so why is she still writing in it? Liked the Jughead and his dad interaction, although I really wish we could call him something else. Jughead? Juggy? Ugh. Still, his dad is hot. Hello Skeet Ulrich!

I enjoyed this one for all the reasons mentioned: starting in the middle of the action, the working together to fix the problem, the drinks after the mission. Some of the French was a bit dodgy, though... And I too like Wyatt. It's not his fault the show has to make him fail to kill Flynn every week, though I wish they could get round that in a better way. And the dead wife is a bit cliched. Still, he's being fleshed out.

I enjoyed most of this one - the Borden flashback was really good and I do hope he's not dead. Anything with Jane and Roman is automatically more interesting than pretty much everything else so I'll be interested to see where that goes. Though as someone else mentioned, that fight scene with Shepherd I expected to be much better. But as ever, I just rolled my eyes every time Weller was on screen. I'm not a fan of his romance with Nas but as long as that keeps him away from Jane, I'll deal with it.

Loved this episode for all the reasons everyone has said: Michael fitting into the family, Rafael getting over Jane and coparenting, dealing with the abortion without making it a massive issue et al. Also, JustaPerson, I kind of thought Scott was gay too. Totally agreed with all of your comment, ElectricBoogaloo. Just loving Michael more and more, he's so supportive and really gets the whole family. I'm so glad we're (apparently) free from the love triangle this season. It's my most hated TV trope because it really does no one any favours. It's so much better to watch Jane and her relationship with Michael being separate from her relationship with Rafael, which is now much more interesting to me. I do love seeing Rogelio inserting himself into important historical moments too, that is hilarious stuff! The Statue of Liberty poem judging panel was so funny.

So I've just started watching this show and I freely admit I have no idea what happened in the first season except very vaguely - I did read the recaps on this site. I might be missing a lot of details that were covered in season 1. But, am I to understand that Weller is our show's hero/protagonist/romantic lead? Because I am not buying it. Can he do anything other than glower or stare manically at people? Is he supposed to be a leader? Is he supposed to have a romantic connection with Jane? Nope, nope, nope. Tragic lack of chemistry aside, he is a total tool. Why on earth would anyone be attracted to him or think him a competent leader? This kind of forced romantic relationship is just awful, as well as being utterly predictable. This episode's plot was very shonky indeed, but it seems to be fitting a pattern of deciphering a tattoo and then going to foil a terrorist plot just in time. Like, what happens if the terrorist plot occurs before they decipher the tattoo? Or if there are weeks to go before the... never mind, it's obviously something that's going to happen week to week. They always get there just. in. time. Anyway, I hope this pregnancy storyline keeps Weller and Jane apart and not just for the obvious obstacle storyline that ends in the ex's death. They are like planks of wood together. Quite frankly, if they don't up the Shepherd/Roman stuff I won't be watching much longer. I'm much more interested in Jane's relationships with her shady family than the shoot-em-up stuff. Also, Luke Mitchell knows his way around a fight scene and can do emotional stuff and they should be using him more. I hope Jane does get some kind of romantic plot with the antipodean from last week because I can't take the lingering glances with that oaf Weller.

I liked that this episode was slightly less cheesy and manipulative than the pilot and am impressed by most of the acting, but I can't help agreeing with Indy (I think?) that I want to like the show more than I do. I'll stick with it for now though because I'm really liking Randall's family and I want to see where his and Kevin's relationship goes. I do have to agree with this. Toby is just too much of a creep.

Sigh. I just miss Agent Carter. But I'll give it a go if it's better than Blindspot and Quantico.

I may give it another go but I fear this one's not for me. Though I like Justin Hartley and Sterling K Brown, I loathed Milo Ventimiglia in Gilmore Girls and Heroes, and he did nothing to change my mind here unfortunately. The parents' storyline just came across as so hokey and forced. Sadly, Sterling's storyline also seemed forced after he met his bio dad. I did enjoy the sibling relationship between Kevin and Kate and I'd be interested in seeing how they interact with their other brother. Overall I just felt it was overly manipulative however. No tears here. And the lines about not having the conversation in the hospital because Jack 'knew' everything was going to be OK? WTF? I nearly threw my laptop across the room. Why would a doctor listen to that? I'll see what next week's like, I guess.

I have to say I agree with Artsda. I enjoy Michael as a character plus I don't see why Rafael should be endgame. Others have suggested some twists that could happen other than Michael's death. Also, how long do telenovelas last? I was under the impression they don't last as long as American series, though I may well be wrong. As much as I like Jane the Virgin, I find my patience runs out quite quickly with the standard 20-something episodes a season shows. Do we know how many series they are planning?

I just binged all of this on Netflix, too, and agree with most of what you say, stagmania. However, I definitely still hate love triangles and it's really the only part of the show I disliked. So I'm disappointed that it looks like they'll be revisiting that. Anyway, I'm just glad that they got married - the whole wedding was so lovely! I teared up when Michael started his vows in Spanish and again when he gave her the snow globe. Rogelio was a delight throughout. I didn't think Bruno Mars would actually appear when Rogelio namedropped him earlier so that was a nice surprise. Can't wait for season 3 - I just really hope Michael isn't dead (despite the number of death anvils) as I enjoy his character both with and without Jane, though I do prefer him as her partner. I find Rafael dull as dishwater and I like his chemistry with Petra, it just isn't there with Jane. And Brett Dier is just charming, so here's hoping he survives.

Agreed, I'd rather watch The Family than this nonsense. The only reason I watched to the end was to find out what happened to Brandon but apparently he just disappeared to some random FBI office after training. There's no way I'm watching next season to find out just how much more makeup they can trowel onto Shelby. Seriously, will we even be able to see her eyes under all the eyeliner and false lashes?
