  1. Actually, I believe they were singing "Go have sex Jane." That was when she got married to Michael (sigh).
  2. I will say this: I really did love Rogelio's disgusted look when Darcy and Esteban reunited. It's the first time this season has made me laugh.
  3. Yeah...not sure where the heck this is going. Like everyone has said, Rafael sucks, but Michael is barely present, so I don't know where this show is headed. I will be sad if it does indeed end up being a How I Met Your Mother-type situation where the ending is just so bad that fans literally cannot even. Maybe I'm making this up, but was there once an episode where Jane had to learn to "show, don't tell" in her writing? If so, then the show's writers should follow their own advice, because we kind of got to see Jane's feelings for Michael rekindled, but for the most part we were only told it happened. And if not...c'mon, JtV writers. You should still know better! I just hate how poor Michael has been reduced to a mere plot point. I will say, I grieved his death when he "died" but I enjoyed the show even before I became really invested in his character, so the last season felt sad, but I was still interested in the show sans Michael. Bringing him back in this way just sucks. I also hated the way Jane's family pushed her birthday party on her because the guests had already been invited. Why not just call all the invitees, tell people Jane had gotten sick and that the party was cancelled? Sheesh.
  4. Word to this. Throughout the episode my excitement that Michael was seemingly back completely deflated. I'd rather the writers would have just kept him dead. Bringing him back as Not-Michael feels way worse and his inevitable return as Real Michael once he gets his memories back is just gonna be another kick in the pants for the reason you state. Sheesh.
  5. I have mixed feelings on Jane's monologue. I understand that the purpose was to really capture the emotional upheaval Jane was going through, but that said, it seemed just a tiny bit too long. I was actually shifting in my seat and thinking, "Okay, how much longer is this going to last?" when it did finally end.
  6. I think the last time I cried this much at a sitcom was the last episode of Scrubs, season 8, when JD's final fantasy is a video montage of what he hopes the future will look like. So lesson learned: whenever an NBC sitcom breaks out a video montage--watch out, tear ducts. You don't stand a chance.
  7. Rake/Rafael's old-timey villain mustache made me laugh. Also, I don't know what is different, but Rafael (sans beard) is looking really hot these days. In the episode's flashbacks from the first season, I didn't find him all that attractive. But something about his appearance now has upped the wow factor. Maybe it's the longer hair.
  8. WORD to this. I keep on thinking of Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad. He was supposed to die early on but the writers saw what gold they had struck with him and kept him--and look what a powerful force he ended up being! I sincerely wish the writers had done the same with Michael. So what if having a happy, loving couple isn't telenovela-like? Jane the Virgin moves its storylines along at a pretty good clip, instead of dragging them along endlessly, which also isn't telenovela-like, so I don't see why they decided to stick to the structure here. I also keep thinking of whether I'd want Michael to somehow be revealed as not dead or brought back somehow, given the narrator's discussion of unreliable narrators. Even if they brought him back, I think I'm too emotionally scarred by now to care. And with the reference to his death in Season 1 and the fake-out almost-death in Season 3, I think I would just feel tired of the whole thing if he were to come back. I will keep watching out of curiosity, but I will definitely be in mourning. RIP Michael Cordero.
  9. This was a sweet episode. Sgt. Bosco scoldingly hitting Joel on the head with his notepad made me laugh.
  10. I noticed her name showing up in the beginning credits (I expected her to be the performer at the reception, honestly), but I got so caught up in the other goings-on that I missed her! That's funny. Love that she didn't have that big of a role in this episode but she was still part of the wedding!
  11. Loved this episode. Rogelio was cracking me up throughout. The last twenty minutes was so intense--if only because I was tearing up at the wedding, but also waiting for the other shoe to drop. And poor Petra. Girlfriend just can't catch a break! Yael Grobglas has been doing an excellent job playing twins.
  12. I did not expect to tear up while watching the finale, but I did. Twice. The first time was when Xo arrives in the delivery room and all three Villanueva women are crying. The second time was when Jane got to the "Rogelio" part of Mateo's full name. They also did a nice job of summarizing the story and including some callbacks to the early part of the season. I liked Jane's seeing Rogelio/Santos coming to life on the bus, and like an earlier poster said, seeing all the bus passengers wave at Jane at the hospital was a very sweet moment. This episode has some major re-watch value!
  13. I felt that way about this episode, too. Usually the white on-screen text is a delight, but in this episode it felt tacked on. The only place it was actually effective was the scene where Jane was playing peek-a-boo with the baby. How many times can you play peek-a-boo with a baby? "127…and counting." It bugs me whenever Jane gives Xo attitude. I get that they're different and they have their emotional, feel-good moments, but the ones where Jane is judgmental or critical of her mother stand out to me more. I wish she'd cut the poor woman some slack and realize that even if Xo is more impulsive and supposedly has poorer judgment, Xo still has more life experience and Jane could learn a thing or two from her.
  14. Loved seeing Boyz for Now as the band at the ball in Tina's story.
  15. I was pretty meh on Petra until this episode. When Milos "murdered" her, I was both upset that she was suddenly being killed and shocked that they went there. I'm glad they didn't actually go there. Also loved how they intercut Santos and co.'s scene and dialogue with Milos' murderous spiel to Petra. I hope Jane and Petra develop a friendship. Both of them could use a female friend in their own age group (Jane's sucky hotel friends don't count).
